Daylin stops and looks at her for a moment, not sure if she's kidding.
Deciding they can always replot later, he start putting in the coordinates.

At least it's a n easy sytem to find...
ludomastro
The ship fires on the Centurion Hawk with its tractor beam.

Tractor Beam Fire

Ophis
Rand glances around. Do we have a have turret I can use?
fistandantilus4.0
Turret's in mid-ships!

Tractor Beam!

Ophis
Cool! I'll do what I can

Rand runs and slides down the ladder to the turret quickly strapping himself in and activating the fire control systems.

If I need a roll for this, Mechanical I presume. 3d+2= 1, 2, 2 for a total of 7, well how hard can it be?
fistandantilus4.0
"cool"? We're about to get blwon to space dust, and he thinks it's "cool". Kids these days ...

Stepping into the cockpit O'olan says to the older gentleman piloting

Is there anything Gand can help with Captain?
fistandantilus4.0
Pointing frantically to the female in the other chair...
She's the captain! I'm the mechanic!

If you know anything about piloting a starship, plot us a course to Dantooine! We're trying to dodge a tractor beam here!

They had better not be looking for you and your wookie friend!

Daylin continues frantically working on evening out the power levels, then works on zeroing in on where the tractor beam is on the Victory class destroyer, checking as well to see if their shields are up.
Ophis
Over the speakers, This seems to be about what I was expecting down here, anything you want shooting? I doubt any wild shot's will scare them off.
Lady Door
Piloting Roll
[ Spoiler ]

Hal struggles against the pull of the tractor beam, pushing the ship to it's limits trying to break free.
fistandantilus4.0
[ Spoiler ]

Stand by! See if you can target the tractor beam! I don't want them thinking we're too big of a threat, so don't fire unless you have to!

This is gonna be a close one Hal.
mom-on-the-run
Grrrrr'rrrrrraaa aargg'gg'gggggggh hhhhhooooooogg'gwwwwh hhhh

Seven (Kolbacca's translator droid) says With all due respect ma'am, I don't think I will be translating that.
Lady Door
Hal's face scrunches up in concentration. When she speaks it's through gritted teeth.
Less talking! More flying!
ludomastro
Hal is able to narrowly avoid the tractor beam shop for the Vic. She rolls the ship and heads toward the dark side of the planet using the curvature of the planet to hide them. The Victory fires again.

Hal performs a manuever that truly deserves to be named; however, no one is concerned with naming it while trying to escape Imperial prisons. The tractor beam fires wide and Hal is able to gain the trajectory she wanted. The Centurion Hawk is now out of range of the Vic.
fistandantilus4.0
Daylin picks up his jaw long enough to punch in the Dantooine coordiantes.

Why the hell are we goign to Dantooine again?!

He puts in the coordinates, praying she has some sort of plan.
Lady Door
I'm a leaf on the wind, watch how I... Daylin's voice interrupts Hal's train of thought.

What? ... oh, Dantooine. Of course I have a plan. Hal looks at Daylin as if he's lost his mind and turns her attention back to getting them and the Hawk the hell out of the Imperial's sights.
Lady Door
Astrogation Test
[ Spoiler ]

Hal sighs in frustration for the 15th time in 10 minutes. Turning the star chart upside down doesn't seem to help either. Out of the corner of her eye, Hal can see Daylin watching her. His face seems to grow more stern with every passing second.
Okay, so I know if we turn here... but that just puts us at... I could have sworn.... AAAAHAHH! Who made this map anyway?!
Hal slams the datapad down and takes a deep breath, trying to bring herself back to her center.
fistandantilus4.0
Oh, by the Force, don't let her just hit the button. Don't hit the button, dont' hit the button, don't ...
Lady Door
Feeling calm, peaceful and at one with her surroundings... Hal pushes the button that launches them into Hyperspace.
fistandantilus4.0
Daylin's head drops. He might be praying. Hard to tell.
ludomastro
On the bridge of the Victory Class Star Destroyer, Captain Donhager watches the freighter flicker away. He glances over to the weapons control officer and in a cold voice asks, I trust that you will drill your men more thoroughly in the future?

He then turns his focus back to his viewscreen to watch the subjugation of this pathetic world. He may not understand why the Grand Admiral wants this out of place world but he has learned not to question orders particularly when given by a genius.

--------------------

The stars stretch into the swirl of hyperspace and the navicomputer states that the journey should take approximately five-and-a-half days.

Scene is over. Please see OOC thread.

Well, here we are. Nothing to be done about it now but trust in the force.

Ah who am I kidding. We are going to be lost.

Steeling him self to the situation, Daylin stands, and pats Hal on the shoulder. Amazing fly Captain. Very well done. Any fate is better than being in Imperial hands.

So why Dantooine?

As he talks, he checks ship's systems to make sure everything is running nominally, just to make sure nothing came loose in the rush from atmo.
Lady Door
You asked if I had a plan. Don'ari was where the Imperials were. Dantooine was where the Imperials were not... and I hear it's nice this time of year. There you go... a plan perfectly executed.
Hal sits back in her chair and kicks her feet up onto the console in front of her (careful not to hit any buttons in the process). She puts her hands behind her head and smiles.
fistandantilus4.0
Daylin walks out of the cockpit, shaking his head.

Kids

On his way out, he hits the comms.

All ... passengers .... this is your mechanic speaking. We are out of Imperial range, and headed on a course to Dantooine. Please assemble in the Mess Hall.

.... It's the clean room with the tables in it.

He releases the button and walks out.
Ophis
That was some hellish fancy flying lady. Good thing to I would have hated to rely on my shooting.
Rand scoots down the ladder from the guns and heads for the mess hall.
fistandantilus4.0
Giving the "kid" a once over, Daylin chuckles to himself.
me too kid, me too.

Instead, Daylin pats him on the shoulder as he walks to the galley.

Against a Star Destroyer, me too. But speaks well of you that you would have tried.
Ophis
Rand grins, Thanks Pops. Better to try than roll over and die right?
fistandantilus4.0
Daylin stops cold.

"Pops"? "Pops!" Boy who the hell do you think you are talking to someone that way!? Get your tail into that galley, and learn some manners on the way!
Ophis
Rand Tarnich, pleased to meet you. Sorry to say Pops I aint managed to learn manners yet, so doubt a short walk will help there.

Rand grins and saunters along to the galley.
fistandantilus4.0
Again Daylin stops, considering the young man.
Hehe, alright Rand. Well then we've got something to start on. At least you're honest.

We'll talk over food until the captain comes down. We'll start with this 'pops' business. My name is Daylin. The Captain is Hal Mo'san.

He leads Rand down to the galley, where he has a quick shot to settle his nerves some, and offers one to Rand.
Ophis
Rand grins and accepts the shot downing it one with a composure that defies his 'tender' years.

You're either a masochist or has a Jedi's patience as my ol' mother used ta say. But you're welcome to try, sorry in advance if I spend a lot of time ignoring you.

Rand finds a place to settle. This could be an interesting voyage, this old coot seems okay, and the captain's kinda cute and one hell of a pilot. Not sure why my Dantooine idea bit, first damn system I could think of.

So what chow have we got? Something better than Imperial rations I hope.
fistandantilus4.0
Heh, yes, 'something' better.

Daylin walks over to one of the cabinets, opens it, and draws out a package of rations, setting them on a plate. He slides them over to Rand. The symbol of the Old Republic is on them.

Better than Imperial Rations. Old Republic. They'll keep for a century and more. Dig in. He says it with a wry grin.

NerfHerder
They also cater to more than just Human taste receptors, Gand will take one as well if it pleases.

O'Olan sits at the table, adjusting his harness filled with grenades and stun cuffs to fit his bulk in a little more comfortably.

Will we be recieving our own quarters? Gand needs to make preparations for the continuation of our hunt.

If I am able to pick up the trail after we have been flung so far off course that is.
fistandantilus4.0
Quarters are up to the Captain friend Gand, but you're welcome to the meal, such as it is.

I am called Daylin by the way. Make your selves comfortable. We're five days to Dantooine.
Lady Door
At that, Hal saunters into the kitchen and rifles through the cupboards for a moment before pulling a foil wrapped package out.
Hello gentleme... err.. Hi. Hal's words falter as she takes a look at Gand. Not quite sure what to classify it as she moves on.
I'm Hal... your captain. As Daylin told you we're headed to Dantooine. Hope that's okay with everyone. If not, well you're welcome to our air-lock and to try your luck somewhere else.
Hal digs into the protein bar, eating with gusto.
Ophis
Pleasure to meet you all. Name's Rand.

Rand returns his eyes to his food, eating with a gusto that says it is better tham Imp. Rations. He gives Gand a sly, wary glance, then switches a more lingering one towards Hal.
NerfHerder
Gand is called O'Olan.

O'olan takes out an older beat up looking datapad and starts typing.

I pull up any warrants that may be out on any of the names that I was just given
ludomastro
Roll Computer Skill or equivalent.
NerfHerder

Lady Door
Hal finishes her protein bar rather quickly and tosses the wrapper down the incinerator shute. Taking a drink from a bottle of water she glances over her new crew. Catching Rand's eye she smiles and throws him a wink.
Well.. maybe the trip won't be a total loss after all... hmmm... our new little bug man seems busy. Wonder what his story is.
So, O'olan... what brings you to the 'Hawk?
Ophis
Rand grins at Hal, finishes his rations and lazily lobs the remains down the chute.
ludomastro
O'olan
[ Spoiler ]
NerfHerder
O'lan turns off his datapad and shoves it back into a pocket in his coat. Looking at each of the others in the mess he says Gand and Gand's partner Kolbacca tracked a fugitive to Don'ari. When we caught the fugitive he proved harder to hold on to than he was to capture. Our ship was destroyed shortly before the Imperial fleet showed up in orbit. Kol was hitting the 'port looking for info and came upon you as the Imps attacked, and you know the rest. If you can provide any help in our search there is a fairly impressive reward for the arrest of our fugitive, even split several ways it is worth it to Gand and Kolbacca to have transportation. Besides, Kol is an excellent pilot and a fair mechanic, she may be of help if we run into any more flying opposition. And blasting out of the system like that has probably marked this ship to any Imperial patrols you may encounter in the future, if they were able to get a transponder ID.

O'olan looks around at each of the others and stretches out his senses, trying to get a feel of those around him.
Lady Door
If they were able to get an ID. Relax, Oolan. Once we arrive in Dantooine, we will consider your offer. Until then, you and Kolbacca are paying passengers. Make yourself at home.
Hal smiles as she speaks, but makes sure the word 'paying' is emphasized.
Bounty hunters. Just perfect.

Well, if you two would excuse us Daylin and I have a ship to be running. Hal smiles briefly at the two passengers and then shoots Daylin a "follow-me-now" sort of look. Without another word she heads out of the mess and back to the cockpit.
fistandantilus4.0
Daylin rises and gives the Gand and the boy a quick half salute, following Hal to the cockpit. Once inside, he closes the door behind himself.

Bounty hunters on the ship. You sure kow how to pick them Captain. Dantooine is a long time to be sitting around with two heavily armed 'passengers' that see credits on everyone's head.

He isn't wrong about the transponder though. Dantooine isn't Imperial controlled, but if that Vic got a chance to read us, there'll be trouble for it later. We'll need parts to change out the transponder ID tag. Might not make much difference though, as I doubt you'll want to change the ship's name. You have a plan?
Lady Door
I'm no fool, Daylin. I heard the warning in the Gand's voice as clear as you did. But, unless we're willing to usher them to the airlock there's not to be done about it now.
As for the transponder switch... if you have the tools, make the change. I'm much more fond of my flesh then the name painted on the hull. Does make me a mite nervous though. Changing the name of a ship before it's reached berth is a bad omen. It seems to me we have enough bad luck on board without inviting more to visit.

Hal sighs and sinks down into the pilots' chair. With a distracted air, she twirls her ponytail around her finger.
Things were so much easier back home.
Looking back up at Daylin, she shrugs. What do you suggest, D?
fistandantilus4.0
We'd need parts for the transponder. The trans code is hard wired in. Dantooine is pretty back water, but they should have parts at l;east . nothing to be done for that until we land.

In the mean time, our Gand friend "o'olan was accessing the ship's computer for something. Perhaps we can find what he was looking for . Unless he's just writing his memoirs that is. Which I doubt. Gand like their deeds to be known because of them, not becuase they wrote them down.

As you say though, nothing to be done for it now. Or this kid. Fif you manage to collect a fare from any of them by the way? If they actually have the credits, it could make the next leg of our trip a mite spot easier. No sense is jumping across the galaxy for nothing.

That was excellent flying by the way. Sorry I didn't say sooner. I've seen some tremendous pilots in my time. Some of the best in the galaxy. So believe me when I say it was good flying.

Feeling a bit uncomfortable, Daylin doesn't really wait for an answer. instead he heads to the engine room to make sure nothing came loose from the stress of heavy use.
