Today, just for laughs, I decided to set my current character aside, and introduce a crazy new character in. I told my GM I was gonna create a 500 bp twisted mage, and retire her as a NPC villain after a handful of runs.
Initially, I intended on creating a 'Scarecrow', focusing on 'insanity' themed magic. Remove Sight, Trid Phantasm, Agony, Bugs. Then I added buffs. Increase Reflexes, Increase Agility. Then I added some SURGE mutagenics, for fangs, nasty vibe, and bleeding extravagant eyes. We have a house rule for Initiation in character creation, so I Initiated once and took Sacrifice. A little pleading with the GM, and he let me put weapon foci on the fangs, and allowed them to count as the Sacrifice weapon too.
For backstory, I wrote that a ritual spell gone wrong left her with Magical wounds which never heal, resulting in a Magical Wounds quality which we worked out to mean she suffered from a constant 2 phys damage, and the disfigurement led her down the twisted path.
In gameplay, when we infiltrated the warehouse, she would chew someone's neck open, use the Sacrifice drain reduction to overcast huge insanity effects, passing the sustained spells to spirits to continue the madness. After everyone in the facility was suffering from huge dice pool modifiers from various area and single target effects, the GM had enough, and had the mage who's neck I was currently rending overcast a manaball, resulting in a 12 damage. After burning all my edge, I couldn't stage down the damage, and agreed to retire the character on the spot.
Regardless, me and my buddy alternate GMing, and he can expect to have a bloody witch convincing him he's covered in scorpions in short order
