This is a short film I was shown today. It seemed germaine to earlier discussions about AR and what it looks like.

Also, it's just generally awesome.

What's in the Box?

Just in case anyone is wondering, no, it is not the start of an Augmented Reality game (like I Love Bees or Vanishing Point). I decompiled the swf on the website and there's an array that holds random text to display very rapidly.

I kid you not, this is what the variable name is:

I believe it's the trailer for someone's film project in the Netherlands.

I like it. It's cool. Gives me an idea for a run as well.

It is very cool, but I must admit that I don't get it.

It's based on Half-Life 2. Almost all of the sounds and voices have been taken from that game and the giant tower is also a huge givaway. Dunno what the box is supposed to mean.

Maybe it's a miniaturized version of the Companion Cube from Portal (a puzzle game from the same HL universe).
Everybody falls in love for the cube... that's why they're trying to kill the one who carries it.

I was about to say the same thing. Poor Companion Cube...

That is awesome. Really well produced for an independent project.

crash2029: I'd just like to point out that you were given every opportunity to succeed. There was even going to be a party for you. A big party that all your friends were invited to. I invited your best friend the companion cube. Of course, he couldn't come because you murdered him. All your other friends couldn't come either because you don't have any other friends. Because of how unlikable you are. It says so here in your personnel file: Unlikable. Liked by no one. A bitter, unlikable loner whose passing shall not be mourned. 'Shall not be mourned.' That's exactly what it says. Very formal. Very official. It also says you were adopted. So that's funny, too.
