Or is it for real.....?

Observation: Holostreets now points to the same server as SR4.com.
Suspicion: Date-related tomfoolery.
Conclusion: SoLA is still scheduled for release after CGL finishes their work on Duke Nukem Forever.
Ryu
Observation: That page is old.
Conclusion: This is not the tomfoolery you are looking for.

Considering the day that it is....i am going to be taking everything new i find on the internets as being some kind of prank unless proven otherwise silly.gif

Let's put it this way: no one has paid me for two chapters of SoLA and since I'm no longer a freelancer for Catalyst, I'll let you judge how likely it is you'll see those chapters published by them. Further, Peter Taylor was the Catalyst staff member who wanted to see SoLA out there, and he's no longer the line developer, so...

On the plus side, all the reasons I had for not polishing those drafts up and posting them on the web are irrelevant now.

more or less.
there was a faux write-up for rules for that kind of thing, yeah . .
they only came out several weeks after first of april . . and the bad part?
those rules were actually written better than some of the legit stuff . .

Indeed.

It was put forth as possible PC race in the lead-up to Runner's Companion. It cost around 300 points to be one (more or less depending on type).

The PDF was posted on 4/2, iirc. That was part of the joke, see? Since they're always late for deadline. [/facepalm]

But what made matters worse is that they didn't come out and confirm that it was a joke until much later. (Was it really weeks?)

Yeah. Probably one of the worst April First jokes - evar - in the history of PnP RPGS.

Man, you guys are always so serious. Big deal. It was probably part of the joke in the first place. And the dragons were pretty balanced; I made a few sample ones using the rules and posted them on here. They were a little frontloaded, but nothing huge.

That was my conclusion too.

The real trick was figuring out how to disguise yourself as non-dragon so the opposition didn't automatically call in the Big Guns™ when they hear you are in the area.

I beg your pardon good sir, but would you dare to explain?
Dr Funfrock
QUEEG 5000 is a Red Dwarf reference. Lern 2 Wikipedia.

And there is absolutely nothing new about Shadows of Latin America. That page that crizh linked to is exactly the same as it was when I first saw it well over a year ago.

Ohh and here I was hoping for playable totem spirits this year and a hint at the return of T'Skrang.

Or a double fake and actually release a book on Foo's day.

For some reason this particular part of the adventure reminds me of Paranoia.

BTW, can we use this for Missions?

Heh. I saw that and noticed the Queeg reference. It was a very good episode but when I noticed "Queeg" I laughed. I wondered if it were deliberate and then I decided it had to be and thought - this is *not* going to end well!

As the dragon should be.

Lung / Ryomyo slash fiction, having relative familiarity with both yaoi hentai circles and Harry Potter slash writers, makes me think of the fangirls that have to exist within the Sixth World, and it cracks me up. I've even got an adventure seed plotted around them.

The likelyhood that I get squicked out is low.
Anyway, the SR version of 4chan is basically non-existent due to Eternal September having never occurred (no internet noobs, no internet noobs trying to squick the rest of the internet, no 4chan, 7chan or any otherChan).
However, it'd probably contain everything mentioned here.
So in all likelyhood we'll be getting bans.
But I suspect that we can keep it clean enough to only be temporary.

QUOTE
As the dragon should be.

Oh boy. And I thought that phrasing made it clear that the dragon is on the bottom in most cases. I've seen dragons done up in bondage and...played with, shall we say, by...well...anything you can think of.

One of those even covers that nice quote in Street Magic we like about rare magical ingredients:
"You want me to do what in a cup?"
Only less voluntary.

How about gender-shifting "gray goo" capable nanite-based hive-mind robotic lifeforms who's sole existence is to sexually please others?

Some days I wish I was making this shit up.

Then I remember its shit like this that makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside because the real world sucks.

That's not my idea to steal and I know the creator.

Assuming 4chan is really like I've heard, then it's not exactly going to change. Sure, the accoutrements might, but the fundamental nature of it is essentially the same no matter what the tech looks like. Humanity doesn't change it's stripes.

It wasn't an April Fool's joke. nyahnyah.gif

Seriously, I've got these two drafts that I wrote for SoLA (Aztlan and the Caribbean League). Because of the limbo SoLA ended up in, they were never purchased. I--like all the other SoLA authors--have put those drafts in cold storage because we knew Peter wanted to get the material published as a web supplement someday and if we tossed any of the drafts out on the web, he couldn't do that. But without Peter as the line developer, I wonder if there's really any reason for me to sit on the drafts. I would want to clean them up first, and replace the material in the Aztlan draft that has been used elsewhere, maybe update them to 2072 time, but I don't see much reason for them to gather dust.
Rotbart van Dainig
Well, updating them to the current timeline doesn't seem a bad idea in either case. Perhaps some of the other authors feel the same - so even if CGL doesn't decide to produce SoLA, there could be a release by committee.
ravensmuse
4chan's got this reputation that's just blown completely out of proportion. Look, 4chan, with the exception of one part of the site, is no different than any other message board out there with little to no moderation that just so happens to allow porn to be posted to certain parts of the site. That's about it. It's mean, nasty, will probably offend you at some point and will teach you all sorts of interesting and disgusting things about humanity.

/b/, is the 4chan you've heard about. /b/ is like Pandemonium from Dungeons and Dragons, the raw seed of creation. It is equal parts beautiful and horrifying, creative and destructive, holy and blasphemous. Terrible and awesome things erupt from within. Because basically, it's humanity at its rawest. There is no moderation there. There are no rules. You will be kicked out and banned if you step over the invisible and constantly shifting line that gets destroyed every five milliseconds. Its a lot of fun, but you have truly been warned.

Yeah, that's a little over the top, but what I'm trying to get at is that you can't predict what will come out of /b/ at any one time, and if you blink, it's probably gone. Yes, there are lots of terrible people posting there, but there are some really creative people too. That's the 4chan you've heard about.
Draco18s
I'm sorry, but nothing "comes out" of /b/. Anything posted in /b/ was not created by the poster.
GreyBrother
I beg to differ.
