BattleRun: Two great games that taste great together!
A product 45 years in the making! Though most of those years were concurrent!
As Battletech celebrates its 25th anniversary and Shadowrun celebrates its 20th, the visionaries at Catalyst Game Labs have, for the first time ever, brought these two worlds together! Join us in a universe that combines the best of two fantastic game universes in a tournament to decide who is the best warrior of all time!
Many warriors have fallen, and only four remain in the Best Ever Tournament: Kieren McCool, the wily immortal elf who pilots the most feared 'Mech on the battlefield; Asmodeal el Angel de la Muerte, the Manei Domini blood mage who is so evil that his mere presence destroys all photons in the immediate vicinity; Nadja Daviar, a refugee from the 21st century who has lost none of her wiles or extreme sex appeal; and newcomer Jonas Hadry, a MechWarrior and battlefield commander so charismatic and beloved that it seems that possibly the deck was a little stacked in his favor.
The Best Ever is a bold venture that bridges two universes. Exciting, visionary, and often a bit deranged, this is the project that no one was asking for but everyone will love!
Contains a summary of the new Eighth World setting, nine new character archetypes, and a roleplaying adventure that involves your characters in the excitement, glamor, and sheer ludicrousness of the Best Ever Tournament.

I like how the PDF is free, but if you buy the combo you get charged 3$ more than the book only.
I can't believe it's on the store. You guys are nuts! Someone try to buy it, I want to know what happens!

Umm. I haven't played any Battletech whatsoever. I really shouldn't want this.
Oh, who am I kidding? Downloading at C! Err... 1.1C, I'm actually reading it right now.

Already done - got the PDF. It's 50 pages of BattleTech and Shadowrun mashed together, full of ridiculous stuff, amusing little footnotes, and NPC profiles statted out for /both/ games. Well worth the time to download, even if only for the sheer absurdity.

Sooo tempted. From 1993 to 1995 we ran a campaign using this sort of mashup. VCRs were experimental and some of the characters had them. Ahh good times.

Very fun, looks like they had a good time writing it, bodes well for the future of both games that writers are also fan boys.
I'll leave it there and not get into any Machiavellian corporate scheme to get players from one game to play/buy the other too, and just enjoy the treat.

You know what is funny? If you stop and think about it: using the SR skill set and IPs system with battletech damage and heat, works out kind of interesting...In fact, it makes the Urbanmechs 11 heat sinks now make sense! If the pilot has 3 IP, they get 9 heat, and the heat from their movements those rounds...making it actually workable!

If my memories are correct, there was a topic about "Gaiaspheres" in the SR Nexus. It was quite interesting, since some interesting questions were stated, like "Can magicians somehow sling spells around in space?" or "Are there Gaiaspheres on other planets?". I don't now if you contributed to it, but the general opinion (or my own, sorry, i confuse those two very often

) was, that a space station could create a manasphere if it sported sufficient plant and animal life. So... if you want to crossover BT and SR, then those nifty drop- and jumpships need some extensive hydropondics
Stahlseele
Apr 2 2009, 03:52 PM
There ARE Jumpships with Hydroponics.
Especially the Larger Kind usually has them.
Even if not, there's a bit more Human Ressource on those Military Excursions in Battle-Tech, than there's in space as a whole in Shadowrun *snickers*
A complete Regiment Combat Group, is about 1000 People . . most of the time, carried in some Dropships on 2 Jumpships.
So about 500 People per Jumpshit. I think that would be enough Living tissue to create Mana-Able environment ^^
No, i did not contribute to that threat. I think.
