Yes, go watch "You Only Live Twice".

Iron Claw from Inspector Gadget comes to mind too ^^

It's ironic how back in the day Abbu Dhabi was probably just a joke on the part of the author who tried to look up the most obscure place he could find in an encyclopedia back in the 1970s, but how today if Nermal got shipped there he/she (forget Nermal's gender) would probably end up starting an international shipping/logistics business over there and would eventually return to buy out Garfield's neighborhood.

Nermal was male. He was just so sickeningly cute that he seemed female.

Ugh, Jim Davis is the worst kind of sell-out hack cartoonist. Which makes him so easy to make fun of!

Ever tried to put a cat that really does NOT like Water into a Tub and giving him a sponge bath? O.o
Now imagine that cat having the magical ability to make you see, think and do whatever it wants . .

Also, cats can NOT be tamed like dogs to do what they are told.
They do what they do because they want to.
If they want to have somthing, they will do what they can to get it.
If that means standing on their hind paws only to get something tasty, so be it.
But if they do NOT want the tasty(granted, that's pretty seldom), but if it happens, there's no way in hell making them stand on their hind-legs only . .

Explain LOLCATS then.

Just that I greatly enjoyed Lar's intro fiction for his chapter of Running Wild, and I think you will too.

Being horribly allergic to the little monstrosities I prefer my cats to be villains! They seem to know when they can kill you with there mere presence and I attract the little fraggers like magnets. EVEEEL!

Tiger stop teasing....really wanting Running Wild (not being careful what I wish for:).
Stahlseele
I don't think i would want to live if i were allergic to cats . .
And they do it more or less on purpose, but it's not to hurt/annoy you.
It's because people who are allergic generally don't smell like other cats and leave them alone.
So in giving them space to decide for their own, you become interesting and sympathic to them.
Thus they want your companionship.
hobgoblin
ugh, sounds like a howto on attracting female companionship...
Stahlseele
Yes well, there's a Reason for Cat-GIRLS as opposed to Cat-GUYS . .
hobgoblin
besides the hissy fits and "claws"?
Stahlseele
Cat-Fights, Women and Men fighting like Cats and Dogs. If they are wearing Make-Up they are afraid of/hate Water. They like to keep themselves clean as a cat does. Fish/TurDuckEn seems to be a bigger favourite among Women than Meat as opposed to Men. They are both horribly concerned about their hair. And their Nails. And their Smell. They are both Pickish like all hell. Hell hath no Fury like a Woman scorned. Or a wet Cat.
The List goes on and on and on ad nauseum *snickers*

Seriously guys.... Hijack someone elses thread if you want to discuss this off-topic stuff. I appreciate that you all love cats or what, but I'm trying to get some info related to gameplay and the same posters just keep coming in here to yak about their real world cats. Take it easy your still getting a nice chunk of ontopic info and at least its not 100% oftopic some of these cat anecdotes could help you make your para-cats more believable. A Backberry cat converts quite nicely to SR4 powers wise but stat wise in having a problem manly cos I've never played SR3. But Ill see what I can do.
edit: added stats but don't know how to re factor damage as of yet.

Indeed, unless you understand cattitude, you will never understand His Lordship, Sir Blackberry of Felis.

I ran a short (and silly) mission in which the character (1-1 group) was mentally kidnapped by a blackberry cat and forced to serve in his manor, where her duty was to feed all of Sir Blackberry's underlings (also cats) and provide pets and other services as appropriate. Really, a domesticated cat's needs are fairly modest, but require constant attention to provide. You can really tell you're in trouble though when you begin reading your cat bedtime stories.
BishopMcQ
Prime--Remember that geneticists have had plenty of time to do everything from cloning cats, to making them, well, better. If we can make a hypo-allergenic cat, imagine what SR science can do.

There are hints about Running Wild to be found in the monthly Dev Chats.
Stahlseele
I'd really like to see how they were able to mkae cats better O.o
In their own Size-Category, there's no other animal that is as perfect o.O
Cats have no natural enemies in their own size. aside for other cats.
Just like Humans have no natural enemy, aside from mankind itself . .
If cats had developed sentience, or a society of their own, scientists
would LAUGH at our opposable thumbs i guess . .
OK, in Shadowrun, Dogs seem to be bigger, better, stronger, faster, meaner, more dangerous and at the same time more tame-able . .

Well, I've said before that writing for Running Wild forced me to rethink traditional security measures and security practices in the Sixth World. Bad Moon Rising showed an example of seagulls as a security measure. Now think about what happens when the Renraku exec buys a kitten for his daughter and what measures he may take to keep her safe.

I wore my evil GM hat a lot while I was writing...

Edit: My Evil GM hat works just as well from a player stand-point. Imagine what a runner team could do, knowing there was a cat in the area that everyone expected to be there.

I can't remember which book I read it in, but there was a suggestion "no one knows whether or not critters can be technomancers"... Nice. I couldn't help but wonder how an animal would behave in the grid. What kind of prey might a gator technomancer pursue? Oh the sinister possibilities.

Not even being small, defenseless, and cute could save me if I went against CGL's policy of no-release-dates...

One of the PCs in my campaign had a Talis Cat as a pet. Then she had kittens. Then the mage - who saw the cat hunt down an ork before she got adopted by the other PC - got bullied into taking two of the kittens. Between the one room he had long since converted into a terrarium for his awakened chameleon and the grocery bills for the kittens he hasn't that much living space left in his flat (which also houses the ghost of his precedessor, and his ally spirit).

Two talis kittens were taken with the first PC when she was retired, but the mother stayed in the group's house, together with a regular cat.

Oh, and from "stupid ways to die" (back in the SR2 days):

GM: Upon coming home you find a cat in your bedroom.
Player: My apartment has an expensive high level security system.
GM: Yes, I know. The obvious conclusion is that someone cracked it to let the cat inside.
Player: Ah, so it must be a threat! Another attempt at assassination!
GM: Likely, yes, given your earlier troubles.
Player: I cast shapechange into a weasel and attack it!
GM: The cat seems to grow to the size of a cheetah.

Melee with something while having that nice +2 TN modifier for sustaining a spell never was that good an idea, compared to, like mana- or stunbolting it, shooting it, or closing the door and calling animal control.

10 rules for dealing with Blackberry cats.

1) Stay Away from them.
2) Do not go near them.
3) If you do find yourself near one, run away as quickly as possible.
4) If it follows you, try to find some catnip. But, for the love of god, don't carry any with you.
5) Do not attack the Blackberry cat.
6) Do not anger the Blackberry cat.
7) Do not annoy the Blackberry cat.
cool.gif Do not feed the Blackberry cat.
9) Do not look like you'd be fun to screw around with.
10) Plug your ears.

Daugther of executive finds aforementioned cat and takes home. Cat has fun with family and shadowrunners are hired for a hit against the family's guard Barghast

Team is hired to travel to London for some pricey wetwork. A little old lady living in a big empty house. Her Blackberry cat takes offense at the intruders and turns them against each other as they try to reach the old lady. (Who is a capable magician in her own right.) It's like Monty Python meets home alone.

Nothing better then a dry humored old British lady and her devil cat to spice up a good assassination.

Probbaly.
But that's the same with most Cat based critters.

It can just "make friends" with the barghast. Then it gets protected by them too. The damn things are really powerful.
LamplightSlasher
Any suggestions for a paranormal criiter that might be a little easier for the PCs to tackle out of the starting blocks?

It depends. They can be hugely deadly or just kind of fun. A blackberry cat that decides to move into your hideout could be interesting. But it could really annoy the players.
