As you can see from my name i play a TM, I have the the Armor CF but I'm wondering if i should be using it. the Armor protects from the Attack program while Biofeedback protects from Black hammer and Blackout because they (black IC) bypass the metrix condition monitor and go to the char's S or P track. when attacking a TM it all goes to the Chars damage tracks so why am i not using Biofeedback for everything?
I would sure hate to find out i have wasted all those BP and Karma on Armor if i shouldn't be using it.

I never did figure out why a TM couldn't defend against "matrix damage" with biofeedback.
Rationalization? No one else gets it.

Hm... that is a good question. Maybe because Black IC attacks the TM directly but Attack only attacks his Living Persona?

And damage to the Living Persona (specifically damage that would have only been done to the matrix condition monitor) can be healed by using the Defragmentation echo.
The RAW indicates that the biofeedback filter is a set of subroutines that monitor the changes in the simsense signals caused by black IC. Sure, the technomancer takes stun damage for normal matrix damage, but that damage isn't caused by the IC playing with the simsense signals, but by the nature of the technomancer. So, Armor helps for "normal" IC and biofeedback helps for the nastier stuff. (and of course Shield should always be maxed out, and maybe even threaded if the combat is dicey)

Just because everything makes you go "Ouch" doesn't mean that it's the same. Or is a Insect Bite not different from a Sawblade that cuts off your arm?
The Attack Program goes against the stability of code, it needs a different form of protection. The Armor CF protects against "mental instability" - if you allow that metapher.
Biofeedback Filter filter - Tadaa - Biofeedback, which Attack doesn't generate. But as said, Black Hammer and Friends bypass the Software (and therefore the TMs Living Persona) and needs a different form of protection than Attack. Like, dunno, Character Strength was linked to Charisma for example. Works for me.
I tried to argue with my GM about that issue too and now i think that this is the more logical conclusion.

There is a significant difference between Matrix Damage (which, in the case of Technomancers, gets converted to Stun), & Biofeedback Damage.
Armor protects against the former, Biofeedback Filter against the latter.

Do you see a difference between acid & fire damage?
So, why does Fire Resistance
not apply to Acid, Electricity, or Gunshots? After all, they all make you go 'Ow, that hurt!'.

Shield is used to defend against the attack and the armor or Biofeedback are used to soak the damage inflected by the attack or am i reading Unwired wrong
Unwired pg 136
Each rating in the Shield complex form adds +1 die to the Matrix defense pool.
I do love Shield with it i have 19 defense dice or 22 full defense dice.

Of course I see the difference between fire and acid. But I don't see the difference between intentionally lethal biofeedback and unintentional biofeedback.

I would argue that the biofeedback filter was never designed to prevent damage from an attack program. It isn't the attack program's fault that it also happens to cause damage to the TM. Just one of the disadvantages of being a TM.

Attack
never does Biofeedback damage.
A technomancer's brain functions as a computer - a technomancer's brain takes damage like a computer. This does not in any way make it biofeedback - it makes it matrix damage that affects a technomancer the same way it affects a commlink, because a technomancer
is a commlink.
