Well, I'm not sure what else I can add to my topic header, but here goes: I'm looking for the font used in SR sourcebooks--anyone know?

The body font is Friz Quadrata, and it is indeed publically available.

I thought it was
Francis - has this changed, or is Francis just a free lookalike font that people have used in place of Friz Quadrata?

Yes, Francis is very similar to Friz Quadrata.

Didn't Wordman host it?

I did a search for Friz Quadrata and everywhere I've got I've had to buy it for 20 bucks. My SearchFoo isn't that great, anyone know a place to get it free?

You
should find what you are looking for at
geocities.com/dreamrhythm/FrizQuadrata.zip (no direct linkage because Geoshities sucks big elephant toenails!)
If you're interested, Wordman has a font page that can be found
here.

Grey was--your link is much appreciated.

Strangely enough, some of the 2nd Ed D&D books also used Fritz Quadrata.
