*Bumped*

And. Actually very interested in the new novels that will hopefully be released within the next year. I heard that Mel Odom was writing one (Preying for Keeps and Headhunters were some of the best SR books post Nigel D. Findley)

What about the others? Any word on authors, titles, or plot synopsis?
Bull
Jason Hardy has one in the works, as does Phedra Weldon (WHo's done some BT fiction, I think). Plus one is an Anthology. At least this is info from GenCon 2008. I have no idea what the current status of any of these are frown.gif

All that is accurate. There were various bumps in the road in the past 12 months, but many of them are very close to being quite smooth. As far as my book goes, it's almost done. It's set in Lagos and involves six runners, three packages, and a very long bridge. It also features Cayman and X-Prime, who I have written about before. Phaedra's book is hacker-heaven. And I believe out own Jennifer Harding has something possibly in the works.

I think it's okay at this point for me to add that there is an intriguing new author potentially added to the pool who might pop up with a book before mine comes out . . . but I can say no more.

You know who could write a good SR novel, Joel Shepherd. His Cassandra novels are damn good, and the networking depicted is fairly close to how I picture the wireless matrix.

It would be awesome if Mel Odom wrote a new novel.

I've never been a gamer, but still regularly re-read many of the original novels. Some where better than others, of course. The "new" novels that came out a couple years back were mostly disappointing to me, so I'm hoping there's fresh energy with this new set. One thing I always said was good about the original series were a couple of meta-narratives that kept recurring, such as the insect spirits and the return of the evil creatures from that other plane. Books that are nothing more that game scenarios that don't advance the universe much don't appeal to me as much, but then again I'll admit to not being a gamer. I like the more conspiracy theory/illuminati type of plots i guess.

Anthology? Like Knasser's idea a bit back? Is he involved or is it coincidence?

The anthology has been in the works for a long time--I submitted a story for it at GenCon 2008. So I believe it predates what was discussed here.

The big question for the Souix is if they start it would the PCC, Salish support them? They are busy dealing with other messes (Tshman, UTE, LA). It might be a good time for the UCAS to start something.

Vice
Corp Book
Almanac
Toolkit
Several Novels
Ebooks
(Core Books Re - Release [In full color?])

Books for the future.

(jm_hardy: A sourcebook we're looking at for late 2010 might have some of the Neo A-type stuff in it, though to the exact same feel or anything.)

Anything I missed?

Edit: Added J Hardys post from chat for completeness.

Well, Running Wild is out now (is the limited edition of 4A out or just regular still?) and Seattle 2072 is almost here. Any Catalyst people want to hint as to which of the "in production" things is next in line, or most finished, or something? Alternately, you other folks, which are you looking forward to the most? I'm stoked for the Almanac, since my players' chars have connections to some relatively out of the way places (Laos, the AMC, Wales, et al).

My guess is Seattle 2072 is comming out in Hardcopy next as it was pre-released in limited quantiites at Gen Con if I am not mistaken.

Except for Drops of Corruption, that was a "new" novel that was awesome, right? *looks around for JM Hardy*

You're sucking up, and I love it!

Lessee--it looks like Dawn of the Artifacts 2 and Vice will be next in line, though I can't say just when they'll pop out. And as for novel names, mine currently bears the title of Hell on Water, and the novel line developer seems okay with that.

Is there any info what War will be about? At least if it will be a source/setting book or adventure?
hobgoblin
i suspect its the military hardware book that was hinted about around the time arsenal was released.

that is, tanks, t-birds, fighter jets, ships and subs, all the stuff that would give a rigger a "hard-on" wink.gif
Sengir
Hmmm, Fields of Fire II? love.gif
hobgoblin
not sure, tho i suspect it will be more like the mercenary chapter of sota:63
Sengir
As long as I get milspec gear and places to use that firepower I'm a happy man

What, the local Mall not good enough for your Minigun anymore?
Zen Shooter01
I'd be surprised if 4th ed. did a military gear book. I think War will be a campaign book, about a war.
hobgoblin
there already is mil spec armor and some lower class vehicles in arsenal.

i for one would love to see them clear up those launch weapons in terms of hardpoint/firmpoint use...
