Night 1 in Lagos.

Chinese fire drills until 6AM. This will be continuing for the foreseeable future. I am very busy ruing the day I came to Lagos.

P.S. My butt hurts.

Oh, now that sounds ominous!

We'll be too busy fighting armies of cyberzombies for downtime.

That said, Hodder, Vera, and Hawkeye are going as a group right?

No. Hodder, Jane and Hawkeye. Vera is the lead person in the contact with Igbo.

Ah, right. Did Dartha ever get assigned to a group? I know Keren hasn't been around in a while, but was just curious.
pbangarth
Hodder, Jane and Hawkeye go to the markets. Vera, Dartha, Jack and Dexter go to the high level contact.
Karoline
Woo! Shopping trip wink.gif

I need FFBA, muscle enhancement, ultrawide band radar...
pbangarth
Hmmm. It just struck me, and therefore Hodder, that when Hodder[Delta] is out with Jane[Alpha] and Sakura[Hawkeye/Echo], by our earlier experience and Vera's[Beta's] admonition he is likely to be required to do most of the talking.

So.... just before they head out, Hodder will drop the Increase Attribute(WIL) and cast Increase Attribute(CHA).
[ Spoiler ]

There. CHA 7, and he will have his emotitoy along with him.
Karoline
The only real problem with the attribute boost without a foci is that you have +3 Cha but -2 to everything, so only a tiny little +1 bonus for all that risk you just had Hodder put himself through wink.gif
pbangarth
I recognize that. Originally, the Heightened Concentration would have taken care of this issue, but the background count eliminated that power. Nevertheless, Hodder thinks, and I agree with him, that social skills will be at the forefront in this information gathering trip. And if a situation develops that changes the equation, the spell can be dropped as a Free Action. And the risk was Drain of 1P, with a pool of 8 dice to resist it.

Yeah, I know he's been nuked recently by Drain. But come on! He's on an adventure! No place here for cowardice.
Mister Juan
I just got back from out of town. I’m totally burnt out, so I’m turning in early today.
What I have done though is read through what’s been posted. I have some sort of idea what I’ll write, so I’ll do my best to post tomorrow morning.
pbangarth
No problem, big guy. We seem to have also mislaid Kerenshara somewhere, last week.

She got really overworked and hasn't been on a computer in over a week, much less have time for DS.
SincereAgape
Hey Mister Juan, Welcome back.

Hey Pete. The rolls look good! Glad Hodder is finally getting the hang of not suffering from drain. It looks like you got rid of all of your bad rolls at the beginning of the adventure.

Thanks. Thanks a lot, buddy.

Going west to Alberta. If everything goes well, I'll be there by Sunday. I will try to connect to Dumpshock at least once a day.
SincereAgape
Hi. Everyone receives four karma after the first night in Lagos.

1 Meet with Jane.
1 Surviving first day in Lagos.
1 Fighting off Bunker the Sniper
1 Roleplaying and staying in character.
Mister Juan
Which brings up a question: how do we handle karma expenditure?
SincereAgape
Hey Dexter.

Let me know what you want to improve. If it's in the realm of reason such as Dexter taking a few hours to work on improving his ability with clubs by swinging around a pool stick in his room that is fine.

Take in mind the location and the access the character has to learning and developing it.

Something out of the question would be Dexter learns Piloting Anthroform.

Mister Juan
I was mainly thinking about giving him specializations that would fit with his background.
SincereAgape
That should be cool Dexter.
Mister Juan
@All
Just so I get the plan clearly:
Team 1: Vera, Jack, Dexter, Dartha
Team 2: Jane, Hodder, Hawkeye

Team 1 goes to meet Vera's contact
Team 2 hits the streets looking for info.

Also, I remember Jane mentioned we'd secure vehicles at some point. Has it been already done? If not, we probably should get on that like... now...

@Karoline
Does Hawkeye have a sleep regulator?
If not, Dexter would ask her to take his place for about 4 hours a night, so he can sleep. If she does, we might want to check if we can get roof access.

She does not. It is one of the top things on my list of 'things to buy when I have some time and money' but it remains not in her brain for now.

Well, if she's ok with standing guard from midnight to 3am, she's got the job wink.gif

I'm sure she'll be ecstatic when you wake her to tell her that nyahnyah.gif

Those are the teams. Since Jane and Hawkeye have to wait for Hodder to finish his language lesson, there is time in the morning for Jane to arrange vehicles.

Stylin' vehicles that will make us stand out I hope. nyahnyah.gif We wouldn't want to not be targets of more assassination attempts after all.

Everyone has been fairly quiet for a few weeks or so. I'm guessing we're largely waiting on Keren to show back up, though she's been MIA for a while now (I've heard grape-vine style that she is alive and unhurt as of pre-thanksgiving).
Karoline
How about them... umm... team things with the sports?
pbangarth
SincereAgape, I assume you are putting this game on hold, as well as the Never Trust an Elf II game?
Mister Juan
Anyone still around?

Hai!
pbangarth
Still here!!
Karoline
That's three. Let the bloodbath high cautious game continue!

Unfortently Keren still hasn't been seen or heard from at all, so we'll likely need to move on without her.
pbangarth
SincereAgape backed out of another game because of time constraints, before Christmas. Maybe he's out of commission too. Might be hard to forge ahead if he is.
Karoline
Woo, finally back. Sorry I've been out so long.
Chrysalis
Ken told me in a private email he wants to focus more on real life and work less on the escape of the online world.

Sorry for not responding earlier. I am now working very long hours, 6 days a week too. So I just have the mental forwithal of answering things.
pbangarth
Well, it sounds as if we are on hiatus in Lagos for a while. Great place to be on vacation, huh?
pbangarth
Not that it matters at the moment, but it appears I have been hammering Hodder with physical drain when I shouldn't have. It appears from discussions HERE that for purposes of determining whether Drain is Physical or Stun, in SR4A one uses the whole Magic Attribute, not just the part allocated to Spellcasting and Summoning (which does still limit the maximum Force of spells and spirits).

So, if we ever do play again, Hodder won't be such a 'walking dead'.

Just walking brain dead.

Yeah, but brains regenerate faster. Ooh! Idea for a zombie movie!

Wow. Folks on that thread are really coming down hard on the side of a more inclusive reading of the SR4A rule on Mystic Adepts. The reading being pushed is that the full Magic Attribute is used to calculate the maximum Force of spell and spirit, as well as type of Drain.

Not that Hodder would dare higher Force than he has been using already. Well... with the Drain for him being Stun all the way up to Force 5, he may try it up to that number. Force 6 at physical Drain would just kill him. So if we do play again, and you see Hodder trying a high Force... stand back out of splatter range, 'cause he's agonna blow!

I don't know. The feeling on that thread is that Mystic Adepts being played the way I have played Hodder are crippled. I don't have that feeling for Hodder. Though we have hardly played together, do any of you have any thoughts on the matter?
Karoline
Yeah, he's been taking enough damage from the low force spirits. I'm just waiting for him to try binding an F5 spirit and have it get half a dozen hits on him. Then we can play "How many bullets does it take to get a spirit to stop possessing Hodder's body and running a rampage with it."

An interesting thought exercise. I hope it stays that way. question.gif

Has anybody heard from Kerenshara any time in the last month or two? Is she still alive??
Karoline

Haven't heard her, haven't seen her on YIM (Though I'm not on it often myself). I thought someone else knew her a bit better and said she was doing okay? Though I guess that was a few months ago.
pbangarth
Is there any hope of resurrecting this story?
Karoline
Well, I'm still alive at least.
pbangarth
I've started looking for other work for Hodder, but I really would like to stay with this gang. I don't know if SincereAgape will ever take up the reigns again, though.

A back-handed kind of benefit of games dying is that you have a stable of ready made character concepts to carry on to the next game that will abort after a month or two. If you judiciously pick new games with a higher BP start point, it's almost like the PC is gaining Karma anyway. frown.gif
