After a short twenty minute drive, the sedan's autppilot pulls up in front of an older building, in what looks to be a less reputable part of town. Bars on the windows and grafitti are the rule here. The building it's self looks like it used to be some sort of two story office, now fallen in to dissue. Except that there are lights on inside. The door is closed, but the metal fence ringing off the building form the rest of the area is open at the gate.

Apr 26 2007, 08:57 PM
Cooper, huh? I hope he has time..
Rayo stops and locks the car, walks in the gate and tries to find a door with buzzer or something.
fistandantilus4.0
Apr 26 2007, 09:20 PM
The door opens aat the buzz, presenting Rayo with a small 10'x10' room, with one door, and a tripod munted Ares Sentry II ponted at him. The AR comes to life, showing an ork, who doesn't look much like a doctor.
Do you have an appointment?
Deva
Apr 26 2007, 09:23 PM
I was sent here by a friend of mine. He's called Rob.
Rayo shows his left arm to man.
Bullet wounds.
fistandantilus4.0
Apr 26 2007, 09:43 PM
RIght, well, I don't know Rob, but I got the message. come on in.
The AR ork dissapears, and the door ahead of Rayo opens. The wall is quite thick, proably a bit armored. Just in side is a small examiniation room, with a few more doors leading out. Apparently Cooper is the type to get right down to business. The ork is waitng there. He's wearing a slightly stained doctor's jecket, and has what looks like a few power tools already laid out.
I'm Cooper. nice ta meet cha. Hmmm.. I was told cyber, but ... yo're bleeding. no problem, we can fix that. Sit down, sit down, we'l lget you fixed up.
Cooper busies him self getting a few different tools together, quickly puts a slap patch on Rayo to help with the pain, then gets to work.
Got shot huh? What happen, someone not like your sense o' humor or somethin'?
Deva
Apr 26 2007, 09:54 PM
Let's just say that some people just don't like postmans..
Rayo looks around a bit, only a little bit worried, while taking of his jacket, putting the machine pistol on the table and taking of his shirt and under arm holster too.
So.. nice place you got here. Not really many diplomas on the walls, but what I am to judge.
fistandantilus4.0
Apr 26 2007, 09:59 PM
Diplomas? what would I need a diploma for?!
The ork quickly goes to work on the flesh first, then the arm. His work is quick and efficent, no time wated on chit chat , or bed side manner. It's not the nicest patch job he's had, but it's certainly efficent. At a guess, he's probably running a skill soft.
Healed 4 boxes phsyical. Missed a gltich by 1!

Apr 26 2007, 10:04 PM
Rayo streches his arm and starts dressing back up.
Thanks doc. Could you give me some more pain killers, it still hurts a hellawa lot, you know?
fistandantilus4.0
Apr 26 2007, 10:06 PM
The doc passes Rayo and AR bill for $1,600. Then he tags on another $100 for some strong painkilers as he passes Rayo a bottle.
Anything else while you're here?
Deva
Apr 26 2007, 10:14 PM
Rayo thinks of taking the maintenance check on his eyes, but decides that he wouldn't trust this making poking his eyes.
Thanks, but no thanks doc. Here..
Rayo hands on one of his certified credsticks he got from Rob or Benny, makes the tranfers to where Cooper wants his pay, thanks once again and heads out.
Then, the next stop will be Davenport and the pier where his boat lies.
fistandantilus4.0
Apr 26 2007, 10:21 PM
The drive is not too bad, affording Rayo a nice chance to catch a nap. He remember what happened when he was last here though, when he arrives and finds a lot of the place taped off with police tape. Thankfully though, there doesn't seem to be any police around, and his boat is still there, not taped off.
Deva
Apr 27 2007, 07:28 AM
As Rayo arrives, he leaves the car a block away from the docks, walks the rest of the way and checks the sights. He looks for any suspicious people, looking like they just wander around without purpose or sit in one place long time doing nothing really.
After a while Rayo just decides to take his changes. He drives the car nearly to same place he had picked it up, unloads his stuff (now putting his assault rifle inside the bag) and checks if he can put the autopilot to drive the car all the way to St.Louis. He sets the car to drive as far as possible in there, and makes his commlink to show with GPS where it's currently driving. After that he graps his bag and starts walking towards his boat, like nothing particular has ever happened at this pier. When he gets into the boat, he does a really quick check on everything, if anyone has done any sabotage, planted bombs or even signs of anyone been in here after him. You never know.

The car does not have enough gas to reach St Louis on it's own, but you can fill it up first.
Going over the boat, everything looks fine and normal . No signs of tampering anywhere, or of Police activity.

Thougth so, but he can always rent a new one. Never know if somebody might be looking for that car anyways.
Rayo takes off towards St. Louis, but refills the tank before that. Now there's no hurry to anywhere, more than enough time to make couple of calls about boat berth, new rental van and wash the smuggler hold where the-other-Danny was hold. In St. Louis he could go and have a good dinner somewhere and then go meet the elf kid.

So what do you do with the car?
The cruise down river to St Louis is suprisingly pleasant. No worries about a corpse-to-be in the back, no Star on the tail, or even rush to find the next berth.
Rayo arrives late in the night, finding a dock easily enough.
Deva
Apr 28 2007, 08:11 AM
[ Spoiler ]
I let it drive as far as it can. When it's out of gas, it will stop there. Some mystery for somebody to solve. Maybe erasing my tags from it would be nice/essential touch.
Rayo checks his time while packing his new rental van, also wondering why he didn't do it in the first place. There was no need for any Tito guy screwing him over.
Next time, Rayo-boy, you need to use your own contacts. But it's really hard to keep an entire continent wide web of contacts with good relationship to everyone. That's why, maybe this Rob guy could help with that. Need to find out more of him, with many, many pints, when I get back. Except that Tito was his contact.. But now, I don't know how far is this Louis place. Maybe I need to cancel my dinner and just order take-away. Chinese would be nice or whatever I can find from here.

Oh I wasn't saying ditching the car was a bad thing. It's a safe move. There weren't goign to be any problems, but Rayo didn't know that. He was playing it safe. 1 CSP. Write it down.

After taking in some late night chinese take out, Rayo's van arives more or less at 11 at the back of the Fry's Electronics store. Sure enough, theres a rig back there. Just the trailer really. There's also a light on at the dock. After watching for a few moments, a young man, probably 19, walks out that seems to fit Benny's rather vague description. He walks in to the trailer, pulls out some boxes , then back in side the building, via the loading dock.
Deva
Apr 28 2007, 09:49 AM
Rayo checks his machine pistols clip, gets outside leaving the car still running and starts walking towards the stairs up to the dock. He gets up and when he sees next time some walking there he shouts.
Yo! You're Louis, right? Benny send me here.
fistandantilus4.0
Apr 28 2007, 03:24 PM
The young elf boy (perhaps 19) jumps in fright, his hand actually going to his chest.
Oh drek man! Geez, you scared the drek outta me! uh, man.
Yeah, yeah I'm Louis. I got Benny's stuff here man. Just help me unload it will ya?
Man I can't believe I'm doing this
Louis goes inside the trailer again, and starts handing boxes dow n to Rayo, full of what look to be middle-grade commlinks.
Deva
Apr 28 2007, 05:23 PM
Rayo takes the boxes, looks inside them and piles them next to him.
I know Benny said, not to worry about him. But.. Rayo gives a long sigh, nowadays he seems to do that more often than he wants, I just feel bad about this kid. He might be ruining rest of his life with this. Rayo-boy.. you really have too big heart for this business.
Hey, kiddo.. are you really sure this is okey? I do this as my business, but you.. you could get fired, and that is my optimist opinion.

Like now a good choise for me would be to shut the drek up, but.. I took my change because I walk my own path. Not one that somebody has laid before me.
Rayo takes one box and start carrying it to the car, letting the elf boy think about his words.
Let's see what this kid is made of. If he plays his cards right, I might even hire him. If not - then I might have to shoot him.

Deva
Apr 29 2007, 06:59 AM
Rayo gives a silent sigh and shakes his head.
Well.. at least I tried. He's on his own now.
Rayo continues to load the car, not saying anything more about previous conversation.

Apr 30 2007, 07:26 PM
Kid, I know, I know.
Rayo sighes, again, looks at a moment of his cargo and turns again back to Louis.
Hey. Benny doesn't know that I came with a van in here. So, let's just say that I came here with a sedan, we packed it full and then, the night guard surprised us, I shot him, we buried his body and we had to split when sirens started to yell. How does this sound? You tell this story to Benny, I leave and we never ever see each other again. You don't get yourself more in trouble and I don't lose my face in front of Benny. Deal?

Relax kid. This secret will stay between us, m'kay? You will carry it to the grawe and so do I. But if I hear that you haven't kept our promise.. you know what will happen.
Rayo points the kid with his cyberarm like a gun, triggers his "gun" and same time slams the door loudly close. Rayo smirks and gives a wink.
See ya, Louis.

Apr 30 2007, 08:11 PM
Shame.. so shame. But I can't hire someone who doesn't have some guts. I could have taken anything I wanted, just saying "BOO!".
Rayo heads back to the docks, while eating rest of his peking duck with rice.
I could take even more cargo with me. To play safe, something legal, just for some extra cash. It could even hide my real cargo. It's just really hard to find anything, this late and from unknown city. And I really, really don't want to wait until the morning.
Rayo starts making calls to docks, trying to find someone who is up, who wants to move something to CAS, along Mississippi, something that is legal, something that his boat is able to carry and most important part - it doesn't smell like drek.

It leaves Rayo no other choice than just go without a fake cargo, load the electronics to his boat under smuggler holds and try to go over border again without any cargo.
I hope that same sarge won't be there on the border again.
Not wanting to waste any more time, Rayo cancels his rental vans deal and sets Rebecca's course to warmth of the south.

The system runs Rayo's ID, taking a bit longer than it should. All Rayo can do is sit and wait, watching the small but fast gun boats and the rafts with soldiers ready to inspect his boat. Eventually the ID scan comes back with a positive ID and signals him to join the inspection cue as usual.
Rayo's not sure of his luck when he sees the inspection boat come up with the same Sargeant from his previous border crossing. The man waves as he climbs aboard. Soon he's asking the same questions in the same bored drone ....or cadavers aomng your cargo?? No? okay then. Still carrying that Scorpion sir? Pick up anything on your trip?
Rayo tries desperately to remember what he told the man he was doing on his way up, wondering if the sargenat remembers either. He seems to remember the little detail about what weapon Rayo was carrying. Is there a reason for that??

Uh... si.... quatro cervesas pro favor. His accent is terrible, but he gets the point across. Soon, the Sargneant (his tags read Garrison) and his three men are inside the boat's cabin with Rayo "inspecting" his cache of beer. After all, they're not allowed to drink while on duty. So they must be inspecting it incase Rayo's really smuggling tequila inside the clearly labed and sealed beer bottles. Of course they each have to inspect two, all the way to the bottom of the bottle. Just to make sure you understand.
Alright sir, everything seems to check out here. Why don't you get along home, we've kept you long enough.

The rest of the trip down river is pretty easy going. There's the normal river traffic, boats, pleasure cruisers, and the like. Finalyl arriving in New Orleans, he heads back towards the boat house.
[ Spoiler ]
The way I figure it, these guys see people come through her all the time. Seeing a familiar face, who was a bit of an oddity before, and was more or less pleasant and amusing, they could warm to you a bit. That doesn't mean they like you enough to let smuggling slide. But it will give you bonus dice later on.
Besides, I figure a smuggler is the type of character that should be big on contacts. This'll help with that.
Oh, BTW, I can't remember if I included it in the Karma Rewards notes, but I meant to give you 3 karma for how you handled the situation with Louis. You could have really screwed him and gotten your self in better with Benny. All in all, you handled it well, at the possible expense of your self. So yeah, three karma.

You already gave me 2 karma of that. I really hoped that Louis would have been a good kid to make Rayo's associate, even to take him to the boat. Rayo really needs some bodyguard to his boat, he doesn't like the 3-on-1 shooting scene to happen ever again. But it will be more expenses and then later on actual Shadowrunning might become a problem.
Home sweet home.. now, let's call to Benny and make a meeting. Then I go to see how my little boy is doing. I should buy something to Heather. I should HAVE bought something to Heather. Man, why didn't I remember that. Maybe I just buy some flowers.. then I might go grap me a beer or two. Beer.. Beer? BEER?!OH DREK!Rayo jumps out of VR so quickly he almost gets dumpshocked, tries to get up, but he's nervous system isn't working properly, so he falls to the floor and stays there banging his fist to the floor.
Drek, drek, drek.. I had to buy Benny some northern beer! How did I forget that?! No, no, I did buy something. But those freaking big shots on the border drank them all.. Yes, yes, that's a good plan. Now, everything is cool Rayo-boy. Everything is cool. But don't ya ever again forget something you have promised. Speaking of that.. did I forget something?Rayo stays wondering what the hell did he forget while making a call to Benny.
