Seconded, given it's ties to the Borderlands marketing campaign it's no wonder it rings the right bells. Personally I've become rather partial to:
"Monster" by Skillet
"Devour" by Shinedown
"Knights of Cydonia" by Muse Infact that one somehow became the "theme" to an old d&d campaign we played way back when.

This thread needs more songs!
Khyron
Epica's "A new age dawns" part 4, 5 and 6
Almost anything by Kidney Thieves.

AngelisStorm
The Street Shaman theme song is my favorite.
D2F
Since Udoshi already took care of my favorite SR song, here some alternatives:

"Sound of Madness" - Shinedown
"Life will kill you" - Clawfiner (should be on their free player)
"Street Fighting Man" - Rage against the Machine

You're Gonna Go Far, Kid is another good one

the opening of it, had the base rhythm been toned down a bit, was very 80's, thats for sure.

i keep wondering where the need to have such a sharp bass came to be.

For me its 30 seconds to Mars and their self titled cd

here's a taste for those not familiar:

Capricorn - 30 Seconds to Mars

Edge of The Earth

edit: Added edge of the earth as that's the song that got me hooked on them; on a side note I first heard that song after my first run which is why I probably think it fits so well with the "game" (you'll hear it)

I enjoyed the bass, it made me think of the early 90's and 80's console games it was supposed to represent i.e. Streets of Rage, Road Rage, Double Dragon etc...

You might want to check out some Astronautalis.

When I'm looking for a gritty, violent feel, for life in streets I've always liked some Meshuggah,
but for infil raids, I prefer the sleezy but frenetic sound of Venetian Snares' more symphonic work.

i dont see the connection, as i cant recall those games having that level of bass. Said games where much more midi synth driven then bass driven.

still, road rage was a special case. It was one of the first games to include a recorded soundtrack.

here is the attract mode and first mission of double dragon:

2nd mission, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hTl8PcjfGDQ very bass heavy

Road Rash, my mistake - also very bass heavy http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DIKnjLSFRpA

To be honest though, I'm not a musician. I can only comment on the fact that I like Danger's 4h30 and that it does make me feel nostalgic of delightful old video games. Maybe he altered the bass to make it more club friendly, I don't know.
hobgoblin
try these then:
http://www.sacredpotato.com/cyberpunk.htm

btw, the second mission bass sounds more like someone thumbing a bass guitar then whens on the 4h30 track, at least to me.

as for road rash, i see that we both thought of the right game but wrote the wrong name. The version i had in mind however was the pc one (a variant of the version that was originally made for 3DO).

and thanks for bringing the club term to mind, as yes thats the basic problem i have with the bass. Its typical of what one find around the club or rave scene. Mostly the problem is that when the bass track kicks in, it basically drowns the rest of the audio rather then play along with it.

oh, and i am pretty much tone death, or at least thats my excuse for failing to learn to play any instrument, even tho i tried several while growing up.

Exquisite Machinery of Torture is totally the Cyberzombie theme song.

Sort of like Takeahnase by Neurosis is the Sidhe Ork Extremist theme song:

"[Recording of Chief Seattle:] (We are facing a dangerous period ahead. If we do not stop, correct and change some of these wrongdoings, now, we are all going to suffer. Either things that we make will overtake us, or nature will take over. Earthquake, flood, rain, severe drought, severe winter, lightning destruction, great wind destruction; These things will warn us that we are not following the law of the great spirit.)

When it begins!
Takeahnase. Takeahnase.
The Floods will sever the Christs from the Earth!
Thieves called it property!
Takeahnase. Takeahnase.
You'll drown for our Mother's disgrace!

Chorus:
We tried to tell you, now let us show you!
You'll know the way!
Like spiny fingers, you'll separate!
You'll know the way!
Takeahnase. Takeahnase. Takeahnase

Cold, distorted air!
Takeahnase. Takeahnase.
The blood must flow to pay for your hour!
This Human garbage!
Takeahnase. Takeahnase.
Will drown for our Mother's disgrace!
Disgrace.

Chorus.

Burn! Down!"

So good!

Dude, I loved the song. Here is my suggestion. Loosey by THE STRiPES. It is the intro song of Burst Angel (which's also a somewhat shadowrun themed anime, although a little pink-mowhak). Also, it totally mixes english plus japanese plus whatever into the song, sounding a lot like (what I think) city-speak sounds like.

city speak will probably be using whatever is the shortest, least complicated word for each concept being expressed, in whatever original languages available in an area.

and two things strike me after watching that video.

1. scifi anime is the place where the 80s never died. And it seems to run on pure awesome, as no other power source could power the future tech they make use of with such ease.

2. the more self-reliant a female is in fiction, the more outrageous is the dress. while in real life, the opposite may well be the truth (attempting to dress for confidence and such, and not really limited to just one gender).

Hey, it is just like the old saying: if hot chicks in minimal clotes is awesome and giant robots beating the shit out of each other is awesome then mixing the two would be SUPER-awesome, right?
Why do you think Transformers was such a hit? Optimus Prime + Megan Fox notworthy.gif
Also another shadowrun themed anime Cowboy Bebop. Ein: the best e-dog EVER. (I know it is augmentations in its brain, but the concept is what counts)

I would love if a hard trance DJ out there would may a "Shadowrun theme Mix" it would be cool. Like take a bunch of industrial sound but make in hard trance which would fit the genre. I also think that any and all political rock songs fit the bill. Personally almost all my characters in shadowrun take political rock through the ages as a knowledge skill.

IC "Start talking about how Neil Young is the inventor of Neo Punk with some kids these days and there eyes glaze over. I know the corps have all tried to bury all that ancient political stuff in order to try to make us forget, but lets face it chummers they had this shit started all the way back in the '60's, and I'm talk 1960's we were doomed from the start. We got to take it too the streets and let those waveslaves hear what their grandparents were listening too, maybe then people would start to understand!" *rest of crowd starts to slowly fade away as [enter name here] begins his music tirade AGAIN!

There are a number of compilations that will fit this.
This is Techno Body Music Vol 1 is a decent compilation for this.
Aggrotech bands like Combichrist mentioned above, Wumpscut, or Feindflug are electro-industrial similar to what you describe.

Funny, I was just listening to their first album today (first time in... years?). It's a lot less polished than their second (of which you speak). It may be more appropriate for certain areas. "Burn Like Brilliant Trash"!

Ancient History
Changeling (based on Creep by Radiohead)

Boy:
When you were here before
Couldn't look you in the eye
You were just like a catgirl
Your fur makes me cry

Girl:
You float like a mer-man
In a beautiful world
I wish I was special
You're so fucking special

Together:
But I'm a changeling, I'm a weirdo
What the hell am I doing here?
I don't belong here

Boy:
I don't care if it hurts
I want to have control
I want a perfect body
I want a perfect soul

Girl:
I want you to notice
When I'm not around
You're so fucking special
I wish I was special

Together:
But I'm a changeling, I'm a weirdo
What the hell am I doing here?
I don't belong here

Boy:
She's running out the door
She's running
She run, run, run, run
Shadowrun

Girl:
Whatever makes you happy
Whatever you want
You're so fucking special
I wish I was special

Together:
But I'm a changeling, I'm a weirdo
What the hell am I doing here?
I don't belong here
I don't belong here

Nice. This really gives you a good idea about how the awakening of an urban shaman might look like.

Vena Cava by Angelspit is like a Shadowrun adventure turned into a music video.

Janelle Monae's Many Moons is the inofficial main theme for my upcoming Emergence campaign.
