"we need guns . . many guns!"
especially the Savalette needs to come back to daddy *g*
If the GM won't let me put Heavy Weapons into my Troll-Cyber-Arm he'd better let me decide what kind of HeavyPistol/Shotgun i want in there ^^
Grinder
"Guns, guns, guns - how would life be without it?"
Stahlseele
longer/quiter probably *g*
Exodus
early 2008 means 1st Quarter 2008

Heh. Everyone got all excited over Street Magic (and it was good), and everyone got all excited over Augmentation (and it was also good), but the moment people see a preview with a big machine gun in it, everyone is going to start having fits. I don't know why nothing gets most players as excited as a great big catalogue of equipment, but it's Arsenal that I think people want more than anything.

Drones for me - there have to be some good new drones, I hope. And maybe some really impressive body armour. Given how much care and thought has been put into other areas of 4th Edition so far, I'll be interested to see if the advanced melee rules are actually appealing for once.

Oh, and at least a couple of boats would be useful for my campaign, but I don't want to hope for everything.
Grinder
I don't get excited over the fact that Arsenal brings new toys and weapons, I'm excited for getting another core book for SR4.

Not everyone's character uses magic. Not everyone's character has cyberware. But everybody needs stuff.
MITJA3000+
Yes I am also very excited. In my opinion the quality of SR4 books has increased with each book, so why would Arsenal be any different? On the other hand, I have my worries that cramming too much stuff into one book will not be a good thing. IIRC the guys said that it will contain every weapon published in shadowrun books. That's a good thing. But in SR3 there was one book for guns and equipment, one for vehicles, and didn't SR3's cyberbook ( I forget the name ) have the rules for substance abuse? Add to that, none of these books had any fluff or fiction. So my worry is that how on earth will all this stuff plus the fluff fit into one book? I'd rather spend more money on more books than buy one book that's lacking in content.

But I am still definitely waiting with my tongue out for this book, no doubt.
Adam
I don't think it's saying too much to say that there are boats!
JonathanC
I was pleasantly surprised by Augmentation, so I'm pretty stoked for Arsenal.
Dashifen
Damnit! I saw Adam's name as the author of the most recent post and was hoping for a more substantial preview .... oh well.
Stahlseele
yaay . . boats . . hooray . . i guess . .

Hey look, I've got a smuggler character in my game. I need those boats. By the sounds of it, it's not as though Arsenal is short on anything for anyone else. (And thanks for that info, Adam).

I can't wait to see the cover art on this thing, either. Runner Havens was excellent, Street Magic good, Augmentation... open to debate. But I think Arsenal will be interesting.
Jaid
your smuggler could always just use the hovercraft =P

(or the yacht, i suppose, but post-errata yachts are a little expensive =P )
Ravor
I'm just happy that I'll finally be getting my lasers again. dead.gif

Powered Armour? Since when? I do not recall that ever in previous Shadowrun..wuld it require a new piloting skill?

Now..Cyborgs with Gyro-rifles.....that will be..interesting to see how players react to wink.gif
Kyoto Kid
...had fun in a 3rd ed campaign with a maxed out Cyberzombie packing a gyromounted Vindicator Minigun. Shoulda' seen the looks on the players faces. vegm.gif

Powered Armor and Gyrorifles . . Fallout or Battletech style? O.o

No, it wouldn't, since all skills are included in the BBB and the core books won't introduce new ones. ... Oh wait, that has been broken with Street Magic already. biggrin.gif
Fortune

I would think it would qualify for the Pilot Exotic Vehicle skill.

I have one suspect for the Troll in Battle Armor, that one would be close to a BT elemental.

But I´m generally going for a different, lighter style.
Stahlseele
i am one suspect for the troll in battlearmor . .
and if you want a light style do a light battlearmor with ruthenium like the ghost-suits of the grey legend *g*
Edit: btw, fuck boats . . but hovercrafts i can digg *g*
Gyrobike/Hovercraft? *hopes*

Pilot Anthroform. wink.gif
Stahlseele
isn't pilot anthroform for drones? O.o
btw, wouldn't cyberzombies/Cyborks more or less need that skill? x.x
Ryu
For anthroform bodies, yes.

Depending on the exact kind of implementation, I can see battle armor working without skill. If it only automatically supports your natural movement, and is on the light side of things (think Crysis), there is not much skill involved.

Regardless of Piloting skill, you´ll need Armorer skill to repair that thing.
Ezeckial
I have a rigger who dreams to pilot a mech. Powered armor would probably make his day =D
Stahlseele
technically speaking that has been doable(if verry hard/expansive/useless) since 3rd ed with big walker drones and JYM-suits *g*
but yes, i am fond of such foolery too ^^
Ezeckial
I know it was quasi doable in 3rd, and my GM actually had some house rules that made it more usable if you decided that was going to be your thing (though I never played 3rd indifferent.gif ). He was going to port his rules over to 4th and he may still do some tweaks, but having a book to work from is going to be a bonus.

I can just see it now, the little gnome, with a big suit, and a big gun, and his army of drones.
Stahlseele
nah, wrong image . . Troll-sized suit piloted by 5 of those gnomes . . one in each limb and one in torso/head *g*
imperialus
I really want to see the battlearmour. I'm playing around right now outlining a far future game using the Shadowrun system, it's so much more elegant for dealing with stuff like being shot than D20. It's sort of a weird Mass Effect, Honorverse, 40K mix, with a bit of Warlord Ralts now defunct Nova Wars D20 setting and I'd like to see if my power armour matches up with the designers vision.
Ezeckial
Nah, the suit can definitely be troll sized. But you only need 1 gnome.

If you had 5 gnomes, then you should have 5 suits! More suits = more guns = more awesome!

I'm sure you could put some fiddly bits in the arms and legs to make it work......

cyber.gif
Ravor
No, what you really need is five suits that combine into one.

God, as a parent I hate those shows...
Stahlseele
as a Nerd we love Voltron though . .

Then I guess I must not be nerd enough because I didn't even like Voltron. (Only sat through a couple of episodes though.)

Yeah. Add Thundercats and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles to that list.
I don't dare go back and watch any original He-Man, just in case it isn't the greatest show ever created; as I remember it.
Carver
I watched Thundercats a couple years ago and it made me want to claw my eyes out frown.gif

He-Man I still enjoyed, just not in the same way I did when I was little (it's freaking hysterical now).

They're out on DVD (I'd buy em, if it wasn't for the ridiculous prices they're asking). No need to miss out (or get loaded first thing in the morning). wink.gif

i made the mistake of watching Transformers . . back then it was my life, i was a paragon of the holy order of the paladins of optimus prime . . today i see the tactical errors and curse at megatron for being so stupid and losing every time <.< . .

...yeah living on the west coast & being a long time die hard Green Bay Packer fan it's rough as the games come on at 9:00 - 10:00am. local time. There's something so wrong about watching my boys slug it out on the Frozen Tundra of Lambeau Field with a cup of coffee in my hand instead of a brewski.

You can't be that big of a fan, or you would find a way to reschedule your entire life so that you can watch the games properly, the way a real fan does. nyahnyah.gif biggrin.gif

Think you got it hard? I am a dyed-in-the-wool Maple Leafs fan, and I live on the opposite side of the world, with no TV coverage of the NHL. I have to rely solely on internet radio for my fixes. frown.gif
Ezeckial
Ack a leafs fan!

Booo Hissss!!!!

I guess I can't be too mad since my gf cheers for them, and if I become too adamant I'll be sleeping on the couch.
