p. 28 Mentions the Kilimanjaro mass driver is not finished. This is not correct (even contradicted later in the book on p. 83). As it immediately goes on to talk about the orbital elevator I assume that is what is meant?

No, the orbital elevator will be located on the equator (and possibly seaborne to deal with vibration in the rope). Because the corps decided they need a space elevator too, in case angry spirits eat the mass driver.

-- Aye I know (Corporate Guide, p. 69) but there's something screwy here. Not only is a skyhook a type of orbital elevator that doesn't require a ground station but the statement about the Kilimanjaro mass driver is still odd. Perhaps some wires got crossed by the authors. I'll worry about it later smile.gif~

I think a few wires were crossed, given the book is the hackjob it is. Also, in the media, all terms for space elevator structures are used synonymously as meaning "LOL an elevator TO SPACE!!!". Just take this with the apropriate dose of salt and mumble about the crap people post on Jackpoint. wink.gif

"The "other old man of the board", James Harper-Smythe, would be 43 years old in 2072, since he was 32 in Corporate Download."

Isn't he one of the wendigo false identity in the novels "Choose your ennemy carefully" ?
hermit
Not, that was James Hyde-White.
