OK, here we go: Peter "Clef" Vasilyev
Appearance: Peter is an ork, nearly two meters tall but a bit slim for a robustus. His hair is dark and thick, cut short into a buzz cut that gets scraggly when it isn't trimmed. He has two studs in each ear and a silver ring in his septum. Miguel has a sharp, aquiline nose and a goatee beneath. He tends to wear bulky jeans and shirts, often emblazoned with sports logos--the Mariners are a favorite--or ork-empowerment slogans. The young man has no obvious cyberware.
Background
[ Spoiler ]
A second-generation ork and fifth-generation Russian, Peter's lived in the Fife area of Tacoma his whole life. The area is bad but not awful, and his parents have always had steady work (if not always the best pay). The whole family being SINless has its advantages and disadvantages, but living in a tight-knit ethnic neighborhood helps with some of the worst aspects.
Gang violence touched upon the family, and although Peter never joined up he has several childhood friends in the Ragers, and a younger brother joined recently. His parents are angry; they worry about their son, and it seems Peter's dad had a sister who was tied up with the Mafia years ago. It's a sore subject. But at least its a commitment, Peter thinks--his other siblings (two from his own litter, and the four younger pups born three years later) still haven't come up with any path in life.
Not Peter, though--he has a job to help the family pay for bills and food.
Peter was only eight when Or'zet was first revealed, and when the Orxploitation Boom grew out of that Peter was caught up in a big way. He's loud and proud about his race--it's gotten him in some trouble but it's helped him to meet a lot of people he wouldn't otherwise know. Two years ago he got the chance to meet CrimeTime, just for a few minutes--sure, the guy misheard his name and kept calling him "Kieth," but still, it was pretty wiz. These opportunities (and others, he's just sure of it!) have come about because of the position he got at Hez Music; a chance meeting with Sergei Malenkin himself got the big man's attention and got Peter a wage. He's a part-time "Inventory Distribution Specialist" (he sets up boxes of simchips for shipping to retail outlets who sell to those who don't want to download their tunes for one reason or another). Peter's too naive to understand the record label's ties to the Vory, or the smuggling he's been party to, or that his job there is just one link in the chain of obligations the Vory intends to use to sink themselves deeper and deeper into Tacoma.
He's got bigger things to worry about as is; around the same time as the Hong Kong panic over technomancers, Peter began to realize he was one himself. Although afraid of this revelation he has kept it to himself, and even keeps his commlink on him so no one realizes. Sometimes when he's alone, though, he experiments with the Matrix in ways he never imagined possible, and he's begun to find a raw talent for diving into it. Ever since it happened, he's spent more and more time online. He's unaware of any danger; he thinks he's swimming safely in the data, not realizing it could be an undertow that pulls him down and drowns him.
