Yeah, sissy or baby rugby sounds accurate. Maybe children's rugby to be a bit more PC.

why do they need all those pads? so that when 300lb dudes who are all muscle can attempt to kill each other through bodily kinetic strikes injuries are minimized and deaths rare. Note that it is so they can increase the energy of tackles primarily not decrease injuries primarily. if injuries were the real concern they would take away the pads and the refs would be tougher.
