Glad to see some people are still around, but I'm sorry to see that I don't have many submissions, despite how much interest there was earlier.
Hoping that'll change, but I'm afraid that people lost interest or simply forgot about this due to it being so long to get started. I think on Friday I'll do another new recruitment post. All the posts on this thread might be intimidating people.

I still have not finished writing up my character, but a few PMs to some other members regarding forming a team have gone unanswered. So until there are available players to make a team... I do have a slight issue though.
Its extremely difficult to form a team that will work well together, as you have to give enough information to give a potential team mate an image of your character, but not enough that you give your concept away, incase you end up fighting against that player.
For example, pbangarth pretty much knows my character concept to a tee (without stats), we were discussing a while back of forming a team and unfortunately he got a better offer and joined some other players (please see The Mongooses).
He seems like an okay guy so I doubt it will be an issue of him blabbing or using it as in-game knowledge, but it makes me hesitant to tell anyone else what my character is about (while trying to form a team) - I may not be that lucky next time.
This is because it really defeats the purpose of playing this character (ie, no fun for me) because the 'mysterious' factor for contestents makes my concept work. If it doesnt exist, it won't. I know there is an advertising thing to take account for each contestent, but the 'mysterious' factor can still be applied there easily and strongly - in fact, some viewers might like that with some characters.
You can all point fingers and say 'I'm taking it too seriously' or something, but I have a general concern and would like some help dealing with it.
I have every intention of playing, but I would like some help or suggestions on how to join up with some players, easier without giving my concept away. By no means am I saying my character concept is anything special though...

That works. You can also start with 'I'm playing an assassin/mage/sniper/rigger/hacker/gun bunny/etc' when forming up the team, then when everyone is in and the team is fairly set, you can get into more specifics that you need for proper group cohesion.
I for one don't think you're taking it too seriously. I am dealing largely in secrecy as well after all, and am relying on it for several things.
Glad to see there are at least some more people around

Ok, now for the last teammember of the Mongooses:
Name:
Fitz
Race:
Pixie
Physical Description:
A male pixie that wears a Chameleon Suit, a Monocle (looks like a Scouter from DBZ) and a Quick-Draw Hip Holster with a hold-out pistol (gilded and with ivory grip plate).
He flutters though the air nervously most of the time, reminding of a hyperactive colibri.
The hood of the Chameleon Suit hides his face, except for the eyes, like a balaclava. It seems that he doesn't want to reveal his identity in Shadow Wars.
He is even smaller than Lucky Eddy, but his voice is rather deep, if you consider his body size.
Character intro:
Fitz is a devoted collector of teeth. He has stored big quantities of them in the place where he lives. In his sparetime he flies though the city, and uses his Detect[Teeth] spell to find out if children have put a tooth under their pillow. Then he uses magic to get into the house, takes the tooth, puts some Nuyen under the pillow and disappears without a trace. (Unless he gets caught in a preserving jar, which he hates.)
He participates in Shadow Wars to be able finance this hobby. Five million Nuyen divided by three? Thats a lot of teeths!
He was born in a forest in the Allied German States, but fell out with his parents and moved to a city. Apart from his hobby, he also works as a runner from time to time.

Hmm, I thought we had a few other teams, but I noticed that one of the people had their team drop on them so they dropped, and another team was a one player team and the player has vanished.
I had really hoped this would be at least five teams, and I only have two teams made up to fill in the gaps (on top of the enforcers). I can make some extra teams, but it will take time, and right now I don't have quite that much extra time today. I should have some time this week though.
It should make gameplay slightly easier though, since I don't have to keep player team's actions secret from one another.
So, temporary pause on the strip till I can get more teams together.

They aren't (generally) hunting you. They are there to enforce rules and be sucker targets. There are potentially special events where one or more of them will be assigned to take out one or more players, but it is a timed event, and the player knows it is active.
As I think I mentioned previously, breaking a rule (depending on the rule) will get you lit up (Current position broadcast to the other players) and a bounty on you, and get the full enforcer team on you.

While flying through the city, you may each make 3 (vision) perception tests. With each test I want you to indicate things that you're looking for (Nice buildings, car lots, grocery stores, etc). If you have a knowledge skill relevant to what you're looking for (Knowledge skill about junk yards when looking for junk yards) then you may roll the knowledge skill and apply hits as a bonus to the relevant perception test, basically allowing you to aid yourself. You may not pick the same thing to look for more than once.
You may trade some, none, or all of your perception tests to try and make maps of the city as well. Each perception test that you trade in will give you a navigation test instead. More hits will indicate a better map. If you have an Orientation System, in addition to the +2 bonus it gives you to Navigation, each perception test you trade in will grant you 2 navigation tests.
I also want a single (vision) perception test each apart from all that.
pbangarth
Dec 30 2010, 05:03 AM
Fast Eddie will use his three perception tests to look for particular urban features, using vision magnification and vision enhancement where appropriate.
I Assume
Shadow Wars is the appropriate Invisible Castle campaign.
1) Architecture Knowledge Skill to find buildings that have good visibility (windows, ledges, roof gardens, etc.)
INT 5 + Architecture 1 = 6 dice ==>
2 HITSPerception Test: 18 + 2 = 20 dice ==>
6 HITSHmmm... should I have added 3 dice for looking for something in particular? Nah... scanning the whole area.
2) Urban design Test to determine locations with lots of lines of sight
INT 5 + Urban Design 1 = 6 dice ==>
3 HITSPerception Test: 18 + 3 = 21 dice ==>
7 HITS3) Sewer design test for places where major sewers should intersect (maybe vision mag helps here?)
INT 5 + sewer design 2 = 7 dice ==>
3 HITSPerception Test: 18 + 3 = 21 dice ==>
6 HITSNow, if there is a place with all three... Bingo!
4) General visual Perception Test: 18 dice ==>
3 HITS -- Ptthhhhht!

Inti 5 + 2 navi + 2 nanites + 2 orientation system = 11 dice for navigation
First 2 tests.
11d6.hits(5) → [5,2,4,2,5,3,2,3,6,1,2] = (3)
11d6.hits(5) → [4,2,5,1,1,4,5,3,3,3,3] = (2)If 5 hits isn't enough to resolve a high quality map, I suppose I'll do another couple rolls.
11d6.hits(5) → [4,3,1,6,2,3,5,1,4,4,6] = (3)
11d6.hits(5) → [6,1,2,4,3,2,6,5,3,2,1] = (3)So that's 11 hits in total
I feel alright there.
Going to look for evidence of ammo dumps or vehicles placed by the people running the games.
Int 5 +2 skill +2 vis spec +3 vis enhance +3 Attn coprocessor +2 nanites +1 sideways =18 dice
18d6.hits(5) → [2,2,4,6,6,5,4,5,6,1,4,4,2,1,3,4,2,2] = (5) still rolling shallow.
![indifferent.gif](http://forums.dumpshock.com/style_emoticons/default/indifferent.gif)
General percep test
18d6.hits(5) → [5,4,1,3,4,1,1,5,6,4,1,5,6,2,5,5,5,6] = (9) That's how you do it!

Fitz will switch to astral perception, and check if there are auras falling out of helicopter 8. If he doesn't know which one is helicopter 8, he checks instead if there are auras falling out of every helicopter.
He will also check if there are any things visible on the astral plane in the city, like patrolling ghosts, wards on buildings, areas of high backgroung count, or auras of living beings. He wants to do this thorough, so he will use two tests for it.
Test for Auras of Helicopter 8: 7 dice =>
3 hitsFirst test for atral plane of the city: 7 dice =>
5 hitsSecond test for atral plane of the city: 7 dice =>
1 hitGeneral visual perception test (will be astral perception again): 7 dice=>
4 hits

Thanks to the quality of BT's map, please feel free to go to google, go to the map section, and type in Rapid City, SD and check out that for the basic layout of the city. The Arcology is where the civic center is indicated, the unknown building in the west should be easy to pick out, and the two tall office buildings area at South Park Elementary School (3rd street and Indiana street) and what looks like an empty lot (Lemmon Ave and College Ave). Oh, and the mall is where the mall is, right next to the Arcology.
The buildings aren't exactly the same, but they should be accurate enough based on the map that BT managed to make up.
The city itself doesn't constitute a BC, but there are many areas within it that do. Notably the area around the mystery building and the arcology both have a BC that looks like it'll get stronger as it gets closer. Both are positive background, eddies will be positive background. The only negative background to be seen from the sky is the large desolate area near the mystery building in the west.
Now, I need to know what you plan to do with your parachutes, and then give me a parachuting roll. Low altitude spec can be applied if you want to pull late, and recreational can be applied if you want to pull early, either can be applied between 400 and 600m up.
I think that's everything for now.
