Generally in those situations we'd email Catalyst and ask "Hey guys, how does this work?" to get a final answer on how Hero Lab should handle it. If necessary, we can include notes about any contentious stuff in the data file FAQ, so that if people complain we have somewhere to point them. smile.gif

Follow-up question: Catalyst put a lot of "Tweaking the X rules" sidebars in books. Would you include those as an option (as far as they're relevant to chargen)?

That sort of thing may not be in the initial release, but we could well go back to it and add it later. It's also likely that we'd only add the more popular optional rules for a while; if we have a huge groundswell of players saying "I need optional rule X" while nobody asks about rules Y and Z, we'll probably implement rule X much more quickly.

This assumes that rule X wouldn't be a problem to implement, of course; sometimes optional rules are "wacky" enough that they're hard to implement in Hero Lab. At that point, we have the choice of spending 2 days on optional rule X, or 2 days adding new features from a supplement book that everyone will want.

Once we're further along in development of the Shadowrun files, that would be a good time to ask about which optional rules we'll initially have. That way we can implement any easy ones that everyone wants quickly, and leave the less used ones until later.

And I would have to step in and object to the statement that "free fan" projects are better than "commercial" projects. But then I could be a bit biased. smile.gif

Well, I couldn't find any good SR themed images to use, but I did find a great site to help design my weapons.
