If that happened in a game where I was GMing, I would just dock Karma until they had paid off the flaw. I mean, there are a lot of flaws that could easily be gotten rid of by getting surgery, quitting your day job, etc. But generally, if you lose a flaw, you are expected to pay the Karma for it.

If you're just hiding the hair color, there's no reason to do anything silly with karma. That's for permanent flaw removal.

Someone occasionally wearing a hat or wig to be inconspicuous isn't bad, but if you are disguising your hair 24/7, then it really isn't a flaw any more.

Gamma World first edition had some seriously powerful good mutations and seriously crippling bad mutations all rolled randomly. Latter editions toned this down but I think it took away from the charm of the system.

This is a second brain which handicaps the function of the primary brain. It may take over at odd times, have several defects, or even counteract the mental powers of the good brain.

Yeah they do a lot of sex reassignment and genital modification at infancy that happens to some of these people who have some of these rare conditions. It is not like it could not wait for them to get older. It does not really matter what genitals a child has, they are not using them for anything but excreting waste. I forget the name of it but there is one condition where the clitoris is just abnormaly large. This is not even what would be considered a hermaphrodite but apparently it looks a little male on an infant. In the USA and probably a few other places the child is not allowed to leave the hospital until they are on the birth certificate as either male or female. So the standard procedure for many years was basically to cut it off and reshape what is left into a normal clitoris. But that person would grow up and never be able to enjoy sex normally and probably never know why either and nothing can ever fix it. Horrific in my mind.

There are a lot of F'd up practices that used to happen and some that still do. It just gets you depressed to think about.

One case that was in the news a number of years ago that stuck in my mind. The child was born an actual hermaphrodite which means basically nothing worked. A penis, something like a vagina, one shriveled up testicle and one that was fully functional. Normally they would do sex reassignment and make the baby a girl, turning the penis into a clitoris and amputating the testicle, but the mother was dead set on her child being a boy. The doctor is really trying to convince the family to do the change because for many years this was the practice. He was trying to do what he thought was right. So they do a biopsy to check to see that the testis are healthy because apparently they can turn cancerous if they are abnormal. The plan was to remove the shrived one and keep other one if it looks healthy when they do the the exploratory surgery but to remove it wile they are in there if it looks bad. The doctor removes both. The family look at the records of the procedure and there was no reason to remove the second testi. It was healthy. The family took legal action against the doctor. The kid now has to take hormones for the rest of his life and can't have kids. I just hope he grew up to be one of the men that wishes they were women. Otherwise it really sucks for that guy. But medical malpractice is never fun. Congenital defects always suck. It just kind of gets to me for some reason.
