So I was browsing through my runner's companion last night and I came across the deformity negative quality.

Now I am wondering.. for those GMs out there.. if you are creating a male with this trait, would you allow him to possess an oversized manhood or even two oversized manhoods (one on top of another) and call it a deformity negative quality?

Or for a female with this trait, would you allow her to possess three or four oversized breasts (aka Running Man movie) and call it a deformity negative quality?

I am thinking of creating a porn star character, you see.

I would allow it as long as it is that big, that it cannot be hidden. But because it should be a flaw, not an advantage, i would it make sure that it wouldn´t be used as one. Besides that, i think you talk about "Total Recall", not Running Man. I remember a tree-set of titties when i see them.^^

But if it is a guy, surely it can be hidden. Surely there might be a bulge in the pants, but it is still hidden.

Then it doesn't qualify for a negative quality.

So long as the mechanical aspects of the Quality (negative social dice) remain in play, and your interpretation of the deformity adds more to the fun than it detracts, then I can't imagine there being a problem.

If you're just looking to get a giant wangus and don't particularly care about the BP or whatever, then just write on your character sheet, "He has all of the penises. All of them." and that's problem solved. No need to get rules and such involved.

I did a changeling once and kind of added cat ears to her afterwards - just for flavor. But if a player wanted points for it, I would probably give them 5 points if it was something that couldn't be hidden, and which made the character conspicuous. I mean, you can get 5 points for having anime-style hair, or freaky eyes, or a bunny tail, so I don't see how this would be that different. To be honest, the 5-point deformity (Picasso face) should really be a 10-point disadvantage. Penalties to social skills and penalties to perception? Pretty harsh.

Well, the social penalties don't matter over the matrix, and neither do the perception penalties.

I see a serious flaw in the concept : to qualify for the 'difformity' penalty - which implies something that can't be disguised without major effort, if at all, the characters 'arguments' need to be of a size that basically make him useless to the porn industry beyond scenery and maybe some very specialized market. Which isn't exactly the road to stardom.

If you're hung like an elephant in the litteral meaning of the term, well, you'll have a hard time screwing something smaller than an elephant...

Well actually it is doubly hung. That changeling guy has two manhoods. One atop of another. I got that idea from someone who said he watched a porn actor with two manhood which can simultaneously pleasure both the anus and vagina at the same time.

BTw, that deformity trait didn't say anything about the deformity having to be disguised WITH major effort in order for BP to be conferred.

Playing along with this absurdity a bit more, on a re-read through the description, the deformity quality is actually a fairly specific trait. It is either:

1. Picasso Face, 5 BP, -2 dice modifier to perception or
2. Quasimodo, 25 BP, -1 dice modifier to physical active tests

If you really want to do this by RAW, go for Penile Implants from Augmentation; Deformity isn't going to do what you're looking for.

Go ask your GM, not us. Your mind's obviously made up, so go make the pitch to the guy running your game and see what he thinks.

Honestly, if someone pitched an idea like that to me, I would be cautious of two things:

1) Is it actually a flaw? SURGE flaws are generally obvious and difficult to hide, and often offer other disadvantages. Something that can be hidden by baggy pants, and that a lot of people would consider a positive trait, would not fit here.

2) Is this something that will actually be roleplayed decently, or will it lead to someone making a bunch of dick jokes followed by a Beavis & Butthead laugh? Something like that can be done seriously, and well, but is more often going to either be an annoying recurring joke, or something that will make the other players uncomfortable in the same manner as nympho catgirls and lesbian elven strippers.

Just this topic? Damn. And here I thought multi-tits and hemipenese (both one above the other, and both side by side) was normal.

Negative Qualities are just that - Negative. Were I the GM reviewing this, I'd do the following for wasting my time:

-2 Body due to insufficient bloodflow when aroused
-2 Agility due to junk in the way
'Critter Spook'-ish quality where the character would be targeted first in combat by all opponents - Metas take the bulge to mean he's poorly concealing firearms, critters go for the distended weak spot, and technological sensors read it as the warmest part of the body and thereby a better shot than center mass
-2 to Social Opposed rolls unless you're negotiating with a specific subset of metahumanity for a specific service. I'll leave it to the assembly to figure out what those would be.

All for the low, low price of 10BP.

GOD... as i read this i couldn't stop laughing. I had the mental image of an intense firefight (drones/spirits) and one guy in an extremely tight chameleonsuit with his HUGE junk jumps in. And all drones and spirits just turn to him... look at each other, turn to him again and begin shooting lighting, fireballs, gel-rounds into his groin... not even stopping when he is down.

Seriously though a lot of these odd surge physical characteristics that are likely to give no in game social modifiers should probably be free because they have no game effect or at least the effect balences out. Some people like it some people hate it.

Or the odd appearance cost 5 bp because they are taking the place of some serious biosculpting, and possibly penile implant or even a sex change.

One could certainly argue that society's lightened up quite a bit about this sort of thing over the next 60+ years of Shadowrun universe, with pointed ears, Ork and Troll skin, etc, etc...but it seems to me like outright weird shit is still going to be outright weird shit, to more people than not.

The capacity that human beings in everyday society show for being obviously and visibly uncomfortable around, for instance, a burn victim who is otherwise a totally normal human being...well...let's just say I don't have a whole lot of faith in mainstream culture's ability to suddenly overlook double penis elephantitis, quad-breast girl, or a guy with a dong growing out of his forehead like a unicorn.

I have faith in their ability to pretend those people don't exist/aren't people, though.

I dont know, you can pretty easily hide all of the hair ones, just cut your hair to short and fear a hat or cut it away completdly.
Eye color one is easily hided with contact lenses.
