Hey! Riot isn't pure muscle! He's actually pretty well rounded, I can help in legwork stages with social, electronics, hacking, and wheelman skills. On the run, I can provide some muscle in person or via remote control drones. I was actually pretty impressed with how good he came out.

I think that shaving off those 80 points, and laying some of the other caps on, tends to make one less inclined to be incredible at one thing, and more willing to be good at many.

Exactly. I got about 10 skills I'm throwing about 8 dice at, and 4 that I have about 10-12 dice. No I don't have any 15-20 dice pools, but I expect we'll be going up against reasonable goons, not high powered super elite assassin ninjas. Just makes the game easier to scale, balance, and make a bit more challenging. I could have done with a few more points, but still happy with what I got with 320.

If you're not well along in your emails back and forth with me towards pregame role-play, understand that I might have to take some liberties with your pre-game story if we don't get that wound up by the 27th.

Sorry it took so long to reply, but I had some trouble finding a believable contact in Denver.
Finally emailed my reply, hope it works for you too.

Group 2 is a elf, a human, 2 orks and an unknown. Not surprising really, Orks are even better value in a low points game.

I'll give you a hint, that unknown is about 1 meter tall. Any very very cynical.

I look forward to the pathos. smile.gif You've given me a lovely background to write against.

And can you imagine the mutiny you'd have on your hands if you said "the party is ten characters. We're allowed one ork, one troll, one dwarf, one elf and the rest have to be human..." I'm sure it's happened before, but seriously... if you tried to make your party reflect the game world, you'd be killed!

I don't mind playing human if it's karmagen. smile.gif

I'm going to have to retract my interest in joining the game. I had wanted to but I don't think with my upcoming schedule I'll have the time to meet the participation goals.

Sorry for making you wait on that info.

Damn shame Grimm sad to see ya go. Good luck with your further adventures, however. biggrin.gif

No sweat. Only you can know what your schedule is going to allow.

I dropped a note to another prospective player, but if we don't get someone, it won't be the end of things - the campaign is designed to be flexible on numbers.

I just can't resist. I'm writing up the first email to send you, and I'm going to spoil the first line:

"Denver - the name tasted like ashes in her mouth."
klinktastic
I know I guy who'd probably be interested in the game as well. Though he'd probably want to play in my group
Faraday
J, you get my last email? Or is that enough to be considered ready for post-xmas play?

.. Black Hat, look for introductory emails this morning.

Crap, didn't see it all day, and didn't want to bother you in case you were busy. Just looked in my junkmail folder and there it was! *doh*.
Have to head ot bed now, but I will respond to this ASAP in the morning.
Sorry, I am usually much more responsive than this. wink.gif

Never a problem - I just find myself with slack time at weird times, and so look like I'm more involved than I am. I'll look for your response tomorrow, and we'll proceed from there.

No worries, I know how that goes. >_>

Just replied. Did I mention I'm allergic to border crossing?

LOL! Hopefully you don't come to the meet light in gear. No time to get fresh stuff, unless someone has extra goodies to share.

I'm just nervous about my (broken down) shotgun. Hopefully it passes muster. :x

Everyone has had very good luck with their credentials thus far. I doubt I'll roleplay border crossings much unless they're part and parcel of the scenario, or you're trying to do something outrageous, but it's definitely a fact of life in post division Denver...
klinktastic
Yeah, with Denver, border crossings are pretty frequent, but I assume because they're so frequent, they quickly lose that sense of anxiety because they become so commonplace. I imagine, it depends if you're crossing with hardcore gear on you or not really.

I wanna see your dwarf! We got a pretty well rounded party so far. Interested to see what you came up with.

Did you ever get her posted to the wiki, Sleep?
J. Packer
Alright Team 1:

OOC thread here: http://forums.dumpshock.com/index.php?showtopic=33742
IC thread here: http://forums.dumpshock.com/index.php?showtopic=33743

Warden's got an email or two to finish up and be ready to join in the fun, but otherwise, we're live.

Team 2, when we get everyone close to done with the pregame, we can have the same discussion about going live sooner than the "after Xmas" timeframe that I had with Team 1.

There'll be time enough for that later, though her sister may be more your style. But if you want an idea of who she is, go looking for that little convo I had between her and her fixer a little bit back (first page for me, but I do 100 posts per page). Or go watch some Daria, as a single conversation from that show sparked the idea for this character.

Funny, when your little sister was named Quinn and was "always the pretty one" I immediately thought of Daria. Loved that show.

You mean the workaholic mom, crazy dad, and sibling rivalry wasn't enough? As for the wiki, I'm trying to add the stuff now again, was just working on it and my laptop crashed. Damned Asskraki internets, damned Asskraki dust killing my lappy.
J. Packer
Okay, Team 2, you're all at the start of the first scenario. I've emailed you with a question about getting started, so please check your accounts and get back to me as quickly as you may.
J. Packer
Also, Team 2, I've added the OOC thread, so you can get started getting to know one another as players if you so choose. Post things there about yourself, not about your character. the IC thread will be forthcoming when everyone is on board.

Hello, I'm applying for the empty slot on team 1. I've been in contact with the GM for a few days, but I thought I'd post my character in case of the current players have tips for improving the character. I'm having some trouble choosing skills such that I still meet the BP requirements. Here it is:

I like it overall Von, there are some niggles though.

1. You can't have more than 1 contact AFAIK specifically for this game. (the GM may have made an exception I am unaware of).
2. Don't bother with astral combat or banishing (for now), bring manabolt or stunbolt.
3. Get counterspelling 4. For great justice.
4. If you do bring manabolt, drop agility by 1 (or even 2), assuming all you're doing is using it for pistols. Get a specialization if you want to keep your dice pool up.
5. While I'm on the pistols subject, tasers are awesome. It's like a short-range stunbolt that works on drones and sprits. And they're legal (very handy feature in Denver).
Von
Would replacing Spellcasting 4 w/ Sorcery Group 4 also take care of the Counterspelling skill? I added the manabolt spell while reducing astral combat down a point.

I got rid of one of the contacts.

Also, I think I'd like to keep Banishing, as it's kind of a character-related thing. I think of banishing like a kind of exorcism that a mage priest would definitely be trained to do.

I've included a Defiance EX Shocker in my arsenal with plenty of taser darts. Thanks for the tip.

updated character sheet, Father Pedro:

Edits: Seattle contact Samuel Added, Fake License added

Re: Contacts

i believe it's the one free one in Denver. Any others must be outside Denver. My char as his tribe as a group contact so...
Von
Yeah that's the impression I was under as well. Plus, I think it would be useful to know a coyote in Seattle.
Faraday
Nice call on the Defiance EX, although you may want to note that they allow only 1 shot per IP (still a simple action though). Got any licenses for those "real" guns, btw? >.>

The sorcery group is ok , but it's more efficient to buy up counterspelling 4 and spellcasting 4 unless you want ritual magic. (In which case you have to buy it at a lower level anyway, we're only allowed two skills at 4 or one at 5.

The thing about the astral combat skill is that it simply isn't that useful for mages with mana spells. It's trying to punch someone while you've got a loaded assault rifle strapped to your back.
Von
The GM recommended I have that group, so I'm milking that for all it's worth smile.gif I edited in a rating 2 fake concealed weapons license (unless there's a different kind I'll be needing). This change is reflected in my total nuyen amount.
Thanee
Some things I noticed... you only have 140 BP in Attributes (Magic is seperate, you could have 4 more points in Attributes).

Sorcery and Conjuration Skill Groups are too expensive for those low BP, I think.

You have no Summoning.

The important Magic Skills to have are Spellcasting, Summoning, Counterspelling and Assensing.

I would stay away from Astral Combat and Banishing, and just use Stunbolt or Manabolt instead on the astral.

Why is that focus unbound? There is no place where you can bind it cheaper than during chargen. wink.gif

With your background, there shouldn't be a problem to find enough Negative Qualities to fill those 25 BP... you need the extra points!

Fireball is fun, but with your low Drain Resistance DP, it will damage you as much as whoever you aim it at. biggrin.gif

Speaking of which, your Drain Resistance DP is really low. You can get fetishes for some higher Drain spells and learn those in the "limited" version, which grants +2 dice for Drain Resistance. You should definitely look into raising your Drain relevant Attributes (Willpower and whatever comes from the tradition, not entirely sure which one that is for you).

Focused Concentration ... before you have 180 BP in Attributes and your Drain relevant Attributes on 5, you are better off spending those 10 BP on one of those Attributes, really. Just get Willpower +1 instead.

Bye
Thanee
Von
Thanks for all the help and tips. I'm still new to shadowrunning so I appreciate all the tips I can get!
J. Packer
See, I knew sending him here instead of relying on me posting from my Droid while I was out with the missus last night was going to be more efficient. smile.gif
yoippari
So just to verify, that last spot is being filled, right?
sabs
My Understanding is that there's two people we're considering. And no decision has been made, but I could be wrong.
J. Packer
Sabs is correct. I've had two applicants. If you can get me a character sketch (2-3 paragraphs) and a character sheet by the end of the day today (local time - Mountain Standard) I'll include you in the list of applicants. Again, we're looking at magical abilities in whoever fills the role.
