Frank is now done. Background added, and spent Karma to submerge, but saved the rest for upping that Ressonance. Got him the Multiprocessing Echo, 'cause I've never used it before.

Resonance Stream/Tradition: Sourcerer
Fading/Drain: Logic + Ressonance
Sprites/Spirits: Code, Courier, Crack, Data, and Machine
Many of those who became technomancers in the wake of
Crash 2.0 were ordinary people with ordinary jobs who did not
care much about magic or digital mojo before they experienced
it themselves during their Emergence. Sourcerors, therefore,
deal with resonance in a very rational way, reminiscent of mathematical
logic or computer science. Similar to those hermetic
magicians who view magic as a physical force with predictable
laws and consequences, sourcerors view Resonance as the true
machine code of the Matrix, which only they are able to understand.
From their perspective, they use complex forms as
interfaces to program the machine code. Sprites are thought of as
sentient programs, embodied subroutines similar to agents that
can be commanded and directed like any other program. Sprites
compiled by sourcerors often resemble sculpts of commercially
available agent programs.

Frank currently lives in a converted storage space above Fionn mac Cumhaill's, a bar in Boston's South End which he used to work at when he was barely old enough to buy a drink himself. The ownership has changed over, but it's been kept
in the family and they have a long memory, so have been kind enough to let Frank clean out the space to live in for a nice reduced rate. It does not hurt that he has broken up his share of fights in the short time he has lived there, and
caught a few would be hackers up to no good. Sadly, the neighborhood is not what it used to be, and the market that used to be next door has been taken over by a fly-by-night simporn studio. The plus side is that Frank has been able to
build himself a nice little backdoor to steal access from them. The downside, aside from the undesirables next door and the vice cops being around all too often, is that something in the studio's node has evolved into a metasapient AI.
Up until moving in, Frank was not aware AI had sex drives, or at least could be confused into thinking they did.

Physical Description:
Frank is, at least from certain perspectives, quite easy on the eyes. He is a handsome man, but quiet and unassuming in his everyday life. He is, much as his street handle - legacy of his military days - implies
a phantom. Average in height, and lean of build, Frank bears obvious hints of his celt-germanic heritage in his blone hair, fair skin, and stone-grey eyes.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Background:
War. War never changes.
There are always eager young men willing to fight for their country, to die for it, and to take down as many of the bad guys as they can along the way. They are the sacrificial lambs. The sheep. Francis Patrick MacPhóil was not one of them. Born to a blue collar family from the gritty streets of South Boston, so thickly Irish you could swear the streets ran with Guinness rather than blood, Frank knew early that life was not about glory, but about working hard to get what you want. In a neighborhood where recruiters expected attributes like aggression and toughness, they found in Frank a young man who, while possessing both, also had a quiet intellect about him that was help back only by his lack of educational opportunities. Facing the choice between a life tending bar or a life of going out and seeing the world, Frank chose to enlist with the Marines. Initial testing revealed a knack for communications, and he was rated as a Field Radio Operator (MOS 0621). Throughout his initial training, Frank dedicated himself to bettering the finer points of his craft, and, without any formal training beyond that which came with his trade training, he showed himself to be a world class cryptographer and a more than capable communications operator.
Frank stayed with the UCAS Marine Corps for his initial three year contract, and deployed to South America as part of an anti-drug task force. He had intended to sign on for a full career, but thanks to a lucrative offer and the coaxing of his best friend, and fellow Marine, Mike O'Brien, accepted an offer to sign with Ares' armed forces instead. The two were posted together, and attached to a recon force which was immediately rotated in with Ares' forces in the Desert Wars. The following ten years saw Mike and Frank rising through Ares' ranks - Mike attaining the rank of Sargent and being posted off to another unit, Frank a light commission to Warrant Officer and command of their recon unit - and posted to various hotspots throughout Northern Africa. They were on the fast track, and were rockstars of the Ares military world, until the incident.
While on an off rotation cycle, Frank's unit was spending downtime attached as security for a remote desert research facility. The facility was completely off the map, and it was believed by Ares brass that it was invisible. They were wrong. Shortly before midnight one evening an unauthorized communication went out of the facility, a satellite burst. While Frank and his boys were locking down the facility, it was hit. No one knows who executed the raid, but they were efficient and brutal in their methods. In the end, the facility's power generator was rigged and blown, and the subsequent blast killed all but two people. Frank and one of his men were conducting a foot patrol when the blast went off, and he was the closer to the facility.
Frank woke up in a field hospital two months later with a head full of unfamiliar ware and a shiny new hand. He had never even considered augmenting himself before, and the shock of having this alien metal in his system threw him into a depressed spiral. This was no better served by the news that he was under investigation for the incidents leading up to the facility's destruction. He fell into a bottle, and, despite the fact his name could well have been cleared, earned himself a dismissal of service by way of introducing his platoon commander to the new fist the company had provided him.
Ares did not charge him for the cybernetics, as recuperative measures were in his contract, but they did terminate him without pay, and left him to find his own way back to Boston. There he fell deeper into the bottle, and it was only an encounter with an amorous AI, and his subsequent realizing that he was not wearing a commlink at the time, and his home system had yet to be activated, that snapped him out of the drunken state.
That was two years ago.
Since then Frank has been taking what contracts he could, and quietly refining his new gifts. More often than not he hires on to a run as muscle, playing the role of a tech savvy street sam to cover his other abilities. All the while he is keeping his eyes open and his feelers out, trying to find out who it was that struck the facility, and left him forever changed.
