Checking in - the Canterbury is going to get a run against if they keep this bullshit up. sleepy.gif

One SR Mission down. Now to get generics and crash as many games as I can... !
Doc Chase
May drop in just to say hello and watch for a bit - the hotel took my gaming reserve cash as an up- front charge on a room I already paid for. Ugh.

Didn't bring any of my gaming stuffs anyway. C'est la vie.

Sorry we missed you all at Claddagh's. When Robin and I walked in there was no seating to be had and that really put a damper on me considering i'd been up close to two days straight discounting dozing on the plane. I hope it went well though. Maybe next year we aught to look at some place else, but it's hard to find someplace that we can get room space reserved.

Honestly maybe the meet and greet might be better served as a room party, i don't know.

In other news had a lot of fun running and playing this year, met a lot of interesting folks and ran quite a few games.

Next year, why don't we submit a Dumpshock Meet 'n Greet as a seminar to Gen Con? That way, we get a room.
Redjack
What does it take to do that? Is there a charge?

It's not really that difficult, and something I actually thought a bit about this year after seeing the RPGnet guys do the same thing.

The only "downside", and it's not one really, is that it is an open event that is in the event reg system. So pretty much anyone can show up. Not really an issue, but it means you could get a lot of strangers just showing up to see what it is.

Now, one big downside to this is that we technically won't be able to have alcohol. Not officially anyway. Keeping it in a cooler somewhere out of sight would likely work though. smile.gif

We can set up the event for Wednesday Night even. Probably end up getting space in one of the hotel conference rooms.

Also, I'm really sorry I ended up missing out this year frown.gif Things were just too damn nuts this year, and I ended up with two bad legs at the con this year. I sprained my knee the week before the con, and it just didn't end up healing right, and my other knee is bad from the old football days. It took maybe an hour before I could barely walk this year. It sucked. COuple that with a meeting on Wednesday that overlapped, and it just didn't work out. Sorry frown.gif

Anyway, for next year I suggest we look into registering the Shadowrun Meet & Greet, and having a couple folks in charge of Snacks and Supplies (Drinks, cups, plates, napkins, chips, etc), taking donations onsite, and then ordering some pizza or something.

Plus we can get a room with tables, so open gaming can happen as well.

Register as an entertainment event, and you can set it as a free event even.

I like this plan, but then again I ended up running the open game earlier that day, and I don't drink much.

It was great meeting everyone at the table I was at. Met JohnDoe, his group and the others that were at the other end of the table. Sorry I don't remember your names, that Dragon's Milk is some seriously good drek. smile.gif

I played in TRO 2073 CMP 2011-05 (Battletech meets Shadowrun), and CMP 2011-03 Threads of the Past.

Both great GMs. Now the wife wants to GM her own SR game. She bought Dawn of the Artifacts, and the special edition GM screen. I was going to grab the shirt with the red SR logo but they sold out of size Large on day one of the con. Bastards.

I think my favorite moment was seeing someone playing a Adept Throwing Troll named Lucky chuck a grenade at some ents and kill one... with the grenade. Then it exploded.

..and a damn fine game it was. Much thanks my friend!

I wanted to thank everyone I had a chance to play with and in particular the judges who gave up their time to create such a great time.

In particular, I would like to thank Ando for running 2 of the 5 slots I was able to play in - excellent job handling some crazy and fun players while making sure that everyone had a great time.

How often can you bounce between games in which one has the world's horniest satyr (who has the spell Mass Orgasm prepared) and another serious corporate espionage!?!

Only Shadowrun baby!

I am certainly looking forward to playing more Shadowrun events at GenCon next year and am very seriously interested to see what we can do about getting into a few games even before then in the Chicagoland area (feel free to reach em if you know about anything)!

Just wanted to throw support behind an "official" Dumpshock meet and greet. Wasn't able to make it this year thanks to work, funds, and a very old cat, but there's always next year!
Grinder
Anyone took pictures?
nezumi
Great meeting you guys (including Bull, even if I had to corner him in the hotel lobby to talk to him!) It's great putting names to faces. Just don't expect me to put names to names!
Critias
Had a great time (except for the 16 hour drive each way), as usual. More to come later, got a term paper to throw together -- but it was great to meet folks, great to sling some dice and play Shadowrun (not just run it, though that was awesome too), etc, etc.
Redjack
Next time let the mark keep both hands though Crit....
AStarshipforAnts
The Scramble was a blast! Unfortunately, SSS and I forgot to take any pictures. No commemorative Doc Wagon photos for us. frown.gif

Bah, you're no fun. We still got paid! Reid kept whinging about that job while we were playing together during the Scramble, and Cateran just kept reminding him that everything went exactly according to plan...

...as long as the only part of the plan you worry about was the "don't die" and "get paid" parts. wink.gif

Had a blast playing with you guys, at any rate! For what it's worth, Cateran wasn't any less of a menace (or any more level headed) in later games. Including the Saturday night game, where we wrangled Jason into running a session for us.

A little notoriety for some of the team members and two in dire need of plastic surgery. nyahnyah.gif

Hey folks, just poking my head in to say it was a blast running games for you fine folk. I'm not sure if I ran any other games for DSers but I know that I got Redjack and his crew and they did fantastic.

There is a rumor we tied 7 other teams for 4th place! nyahnyah.gif
We all had a blast playing prime runners! Thanks to Doc and Grendel for great games!

Who actually won the tournament this year?

Really? I thought the best part of that game was when the creatures ambushed you in the upper tunnels. Although the rogue doing her best Indiana Jones impression when she snatched the crystal was pretty damn funny, too.
Abdul Alhazred
Still wondering how much we missed to end an HOUR ahead of time.

Glad we did - the run to the mall and back for eats for the 2PM game we had that was on the 2nd floor of the JW Marriot was fun.

Could have eaten at Starbucks - but the need for Sushi was strong.
LurkerOutThere
Which module? I think i had a couple of tables that came in a half hour to an hour under time due to the PC's bypassing fights.

I'll second this one - both tables I GM'ed played well, and everyone had fun, including me. I don't know if any DS folk were there: did anyone in this thread play "Ruthlessness" or "Do Fixers Make Housecalls?" (Thursday and Friday, respectively, at noon).
Abdul Alhazred
Threads of the Past.

And then there are the regrets. Like not asking the hot catalyst demo girl for her phone number. I'm sad.

There was a combat that I didn't run that would have eaten up thirty minutes of that time. The last thirty minutes is usually set aside during Missions games to let the players take care of any downtime activities they want to do and need GM approval for.

Didn't get a chance to post this earlier, but I got to play my first Shadowrun game at a convention this year. You really learn a lot about the rules (I did not KNOW Edge added the ENTIRE edge score. That was somehow missed in the last four years...).

Still wish my 11-year-old looking SURGE Technomancer could have piloted a giant robot. I was just gonna take it for a spin. Just a test drive for when I do get the money to illegally get one. biggrin.gif
