Full Version: New ideas for cyberweapons?
Dumpshock Forums > Discussion > Shadowrun
Wakshaani
We have switchblade fingernails, Wolverine claws, fangs and integrated guns (fire ARMS! Get it? HAHAHA ... ahem.)

Anyone have ideas, or even a desire to see, new bits of death-dealing implant weaponry?
Elfenlied
Yes, on one condition: no more exotic weaponry. Make cyberweapons that use standard skills, and are really hard to detect by ware scanners (unlike the current ones, which are practically a joke). Maybe some bioware version of cyberspurs?
Ascalaphus
The Poison Package:
* A poison gland
* Immunity to your own poison
* A delivery mechanism..
> Hidden under a fingernail; just scratch
> Spitting
> A stinger
> ...

All this together as a coherent Bioware Suite.

Alternatively: cyberware weapons that can easily be hidden inside the gears of an innocent, legal piece of cyberware, to hide it from The Scanners.
Udoshi
I would like to see a suite between a Cyber-supersquirt, a cybergland to hold ammo, and a chemical gland to fill the thing back up.

I'd also like to see the spider man version, with a spidersilk gland.

But yeah, agreed. Exotic Weapon skills are -terrible-.

What I would -really- like to see are some rules for converting existing guns into cyberlimb weapons, instead of the generic Cyber-SMG weapons.

Some variations would be awesome.

Hey, yeah! And maybe some other critter powers as bioware, like regeneration!
...
Wait a minute.

I'd like to see some nanite weapons. Like, an implanted chamber in a cyberlimb that, given a nanohive and a certain amount of combat turns can fabricate a number of small weapons onto a prebuilt base implant. Tase that suit and shoot his bodyguards in the face on the way out, for example.

Make up your own rule then?

I wrote up an item that modifies an Internal Air Tank such that it can be filled with flamable liquid. It connects to a tube system that goes either out the hand or from under the tounge.

I can see one of my players forcibly implanting homeless dwarves with this, making them wear special clothes with a time delay ignition and using them as grenades.
CanRay
Do you know that pure nitro goes off with a hard look, right? Even with special clothing, one stubbed toe and you have a Dwarfpocalypse on your hands!

Shit Plastic Explosives, Piss highly potent Acid, spit poison, sweat poison, cry poison . .

I once got my GM drunk and bribed/blackmailed him into basically allowing me to use the complte cyber voice works as a form of implanted sonic screech rifle . .
Well, the character took the same damage he did to everybody else, but he had the cyber ears so he could add that to his armor ^^

Never read Schlock Mercenary, but I know how it feels to try to introdunce to an unwilling group. It took the pity of one of friends wives to convince them to play the Doom boardgame once.

No, my life, she is over!

Honestly, it's not just that, but other things as well.

Anyhow, new cybernetic weapon: Retractable Cybersaw! For that inner-psycho, the retractable Cybersaw is a Monofilament Chainsaw that shoots out from your forearm and starts up. Obvious cybernetic system.
Faraday
Cyber Swiss knife. Handy set of pop-out tools at your disposal, looks fairly innocuous, and has a decent implanted knife somewhere in there.

Cyber Chainsaw. It needs to happen more often.

I was thinking hand replacement with a monofilament chainsaw and a sawed off shotgun. Hail to the king, baby!

Well, there is a modular plugin for a Jackhammer.
And just to make matters worse, there is a cyber-dick too . .
Combine for awfull badong weapon fun . .

Actually, you can do that. Just get one of those drug glands, and fill it with Immortal Flower.

The easiest way to accomplish this is to make your cyberweapons as modular plug ins and have an external ammunition feed. Make the plug in itself easy to break down and transport the different parts divided.
Teulisch
having a modular forearm casing would be great. in the space between wrist and elbow, the arm is modified to a minimum circumfrance, given a few DNI and power plugs, and then a placeholder attachment fits over that(with default armor). you can take it off manually, or eject it via DNI unlocking of the attachment. the cover can be synthetic, but the module is obvious and holds say 6 capacity of tools. so thats up to a heavy pistol, or a holdout pistol and retractable spur. or a holdout and gyromount. maybe get extra capacity for a popeye style forearm that can hold more stuff.

once you include the various weapon mods into your attachement, its a fairly impressive tool. so you could have a synthetic hand with obvious forearm that bulges with a weapon port above your wrist.

Sir_Psycho

You know what I'd like? Something akin to the fingertip compartment, filled with some liquid memory flexsteel that seeps out via DNI command and solidifies as a blade.

cybersquirt + internal reservoir + penile implant. A perfect combination for the pornomancer who would like to drug his quarry. Alternately, penile implant + cyberspur for those who really want to reenact that disturbing scene from the movie Seven.

Unfortunately, Penile Implant only has a capacity of [1], rendering it unsuitable for any cyberweapon.

Unless, of course, you allowed the application of the bulk rules for cyberlimbs for Penile implants.

On second thought, maybe we don't want to go down that road...

Like to see some kind of capacitance discharge for shocking people. You build up static all day, then let it go against a target. If you need to reload for lack of a better term, be able to stick your finger in a wall socket.

We've got Hand Razors, CyberSpurs, and Wolverine Claws.. do we really need more than that?

There's the magnetic system in Augmentation.

We'll, we do need some that don't totally suck. Right now, there's literally no incentive to get any cyberweapons. They're expensive, high availability (the guns), and very easy to detect via ware scanners, which sorta defeats their purpose as stealthy weaponry.
CanRay

One of the characters I've written about has a older model modular cyberarm, and uses the Jackhammer a lot.

Of course, he works for the Metroplex in road construction, so it's not exactly a weapon.
Sir_Psycho
A reinforced spinal column and a skull plate, so you can line up the perfect headbutt with a running start.

I'd also like to mention how ridiculously verboten cyber-weapons are. I understand there would be legal issues with a concealed blade in an arm, but the minor cost of the weapon pales in comparison to the money you have to spend on being able to switch your arm out at the elbow with your legal arm. Can't my cyber-blade have a "release"command, so I can take the blade out when I want to go to the casino?
Yerameyahu
They're only R availability, but yeah, the whole 'lethal concealed weapon' thing is an issue. It would be interesting if they were somehow removable or 'lockable', apart from wearing Doomsday-style gauntlet cyber restraints.

The Underground RPG had the swiss army finger.

The deluxe version included servo motors so that the blades would open on their own, and the little corkscrew would spin around...

They also had exploding prosthetic hands that could be pulled off and lobbed like a grenade - or buy it with the fore-arm attachment that lobs it for you.
CanRay
If the Dwarf you're throwing at the enemy has cybernetics, does that count?
Ascalaphus
Implant weapons are problematic.. you can frisk a guy and take away his gun before showing him in to speak to Mr. Mob Boss, but making a guy with implant weapons "safe" to see Mr. Mister is very difficult.

Do we have clever solutions for that?
Yerameyahu
Honestly, why does anyone even meet face to face at all? It's too dangerous no matter who you are, and not necessary.

Autoturrets pointed at the guy's head and chest set to go off at the sound of hand razors or a cyberspur ejecting. nyahnyah.gif

Considering how lethal some people can be with just their bare hands, the typical defense is distance and a set of guards with wired reflexes and bad attitudes.

With the minmal voulme held in a fingertip, you won't be able to get more than a pocket knife (at best) - a viable design would have a larger storage installed in the forearm to hold enough material for a combat-capable blade.

I once had a cybersurgeon character, whose GM approved of a medkit-like arm, with most day-to-day required surgery tools worked into the hand. Package included snake fingers, an endoscope, a mini-welder, -chainsaw, and vaccuum pump hooked up to an internal air tank, each with the business ends in their own finger, and the pinky taken by a swiss-army knife-style scalpel/screwdriver/minidrill/needle.

Especially the air tank/vacuum pump allowed for creative usage. Plus the snakefinger toolshed provided him with the proper maniacal mad doctor cackle.
