....i just reread the FAQ Area and saw this line. I am informed about the upcoming sourcebooks mentioned on the catalyst homepage but there is nothing that could fit to this very specific topic. Does, in the meantime, sombody else knows more?

Wasn't the FAQ written before all the main writers left? If so, the future sourcebook must be out somewhere in a parallel universe by now.

I heard about payment-problems and IIRC names like Ancient History and Patrick Goodman were mentioned, but i didn´t follow the topic in detail. So nobody is left or what?

Robert "Ancient History" Derie wanted to wrap up the Artefacts arch with a book work-titled High Magic which would introduce new and more powerful magics. I suppose this is what this refers to. Since the FAQ is treated by CGL like Errrata are (because it's customer service, not customer rip-off) , it's really that dated. Sorry. Patrick Goodman is still working for them (again, I think), but Derie and many others who wrote Shadowrun before War! left. Jason wanted to fill in with shanghaied Battletech writers and mercenaries he hired, and we got War! and Attitude.
Maybe they still want to publish this book, it's not known. Try asking on their heavily-policed we-all-love-Jason-Hardy forum where Hardy hangs out, he might answer the question in case he is less disorganised than usual.

From memory without checking
Ancient History would have been having a very large hand in the High Magic (I think it was called) sourcebook that was to follow the last artifacts book. His leaving the company would imply that things will not role out as they would before.
It is possible there will be a new magic suppliment but then again it could be that the FAQ just hasnt been looked at for a while (kind of like all the Errata)

If you are lucky, you might find the answer to your question in this 'Artefacts Unbound' thing that has been anounced a while back.

Yeah, sorry about that. The FAQ was (finally) posted after I was out the door, probably because I told Jason I'd post it on my own website. For all the errors, trailing answers, what-not: mea culpa. Most of those answers were when freelancers disagreed on some fine point, so instead of making a new rule we put it off until an actual rulebook came out. It got nasty because I had some major disagreements with Aaron, and Running Wild threw some weird shit in there.
The Artifact adventures were not planned out with an actual ending; I was one of the people that argued for a proper ending book since the "Corruption" storyline was pretty much scrapped at that point. So I ended up writing Harlequin's Gambit with Jennifer Harding and Stephen McQuillian, a campaign to tie everything from the artifact adventures together and provide a satisfying (and suitably "big") ending. Along the way we were tying things into the upcoming High Magic sourcebook and Field Guide to Arcanoarcheology web supplement, both by Jennifer Harding and myself. All of that pretty much died. High Magic would have been like War! and Spy Games in concept - supplemental rules (for all levels of magic) and a setting to use them in (Portland, Tir Tairngire). The Field Guide was going to cover the major orgs: Atlantean Foundation, Draco Foundation, Apis Consortium, talislegging, and for rules there were going to be guidelines, rules, and examples for GMs to create their own unique artifacts, and ten sample artifacts based on images culled from existing SR art.
Anywho, my Harlequin's Gambit drafts are out there for anyone interested. At the very least the Cast of Shadows might be handy. I was going to stat Frosty but the project died before I got around to it.

I think there's a link to them over at the Gaming Den, in the gigantic shadowrun thread. Also, I think they can be found on Stahlseele(I think)'s resurrected Ancient Files. I don't have time to get you a link right now, sorry. I hope you get a chance to read them, they're a great read and its a shame we won't ever see them published.

And you keep repeating that ad nauseum. We neither have the funds nor the wages of a Line Developer. We have jobs and education we need to take care of besides. Besides, you are the last person to demand anything or put words in anyone's mouth. You can't even manage meaningful internet forum posts. All you can do is write about yourself or bait.

So the Artifacts Unbound Campaign book was the replacement for the High Magic book that was dropped because of the mess with writers. Where is the info that the Atrifact Unbound book is getting dropped comeing from?

Last time I checked, Artifacts Unbound hadn't been dropped and was, in fact, being hammered upon vigorously. It's not out of the realm of the possible that things have changed, but I think someone would surely have let me know by now if that were the case.

Actually, they were planned with an actual ending, one that tied in with a novel (or two or three) that doesn't seem to be happening any more. Then it started changing, and then changing a lot. I don't know how much I'm allowed to say about the original and intermediate plots, but I think it's safe for me to say that it's probably the reason there are some seemingly disjointed bits in DotA4.
It was going to be pretty epic. Bull would have liked it.

They were going to kill Ehran offscreen, frame Harlequin for it, and have Thera come back as a floating-island-full-of-wizards. It was a silly, stupid plot and was way too much like what they did with Forgotten Realms at the beginning of D&D 3.0.
[/edit]And don't lament the novels-unwritten. Loren wanted to write the tie-in for what would become the Artifact adventures.

So...
At this point the game would actually change its name to Magicrun, right?
I love magic as much as the next guy (heck, my favorite archetypes are adepts) but Thera returning from wherever it was, seems A LOT silly.
PS: Would Catalyst be able to use Thera? I though there were legal issues separating Earthdawn and Shadowrun, weren't there?

So, Shadowrun is to be made into Final Fantasy if Aaron and Coleman have anything to say about it. Reminds me of steampunk Nazis in a Nexus in Antarctica and teleporting islands full of ninja zombies who travel in time ...
Of course, with Aaron's apparent grasp on the metaplot (Harlequin, a friend of Erhan), that should be no big suprise.
