Pixie with a vendetta and an expertise in poisons. Captured and sold to a rich family in Europe as a "Pet" she escapes and starts running to get vengeance on anyone she feels would wrong her. Yeah. Never going to get away with that one.

A PC can't do it, but if you have an NPC Free Spirit with the Astral Gateway power at your disposal...

It won't work that way. Astral Gateway allow you to force anyone to become dual-natured and astrally project, but their body stays behind.

IIRC that kind of "astral teleportation" of physical entities through a metaplanar shortcut was possible in Earthdawn, but only as an advanced technique for a pretty specific (and rather uncommon) magical school.
Daylen
I can't play a mage that searches out free spirits, binds them to an object and trains them to fight battles.
Daylen
I also can't play a young adept in a pact with a fox spirit...

I'm apparently not allowed to play, period. frown.gif

It would be less creepy if it wasn't Germany.

I would say that doesn't happen but I once woke to a large and hairy man telling me I sure looked purty while I was sleeping.
CanRay
I'd like to say it doesn't happen in Canada either, but I remember Summer Camp. (At least by that time I had learned to fight. Dirty, but still fight.).

My family finally got that I don't like Not-City after that.

Just what kind of summer camp did you go to!? Rapist Acres?

Boy Scout Camp, on an island, in the middle of nowhere. Wasn't any of the councilors or anything nasty like that. Shouldn't say any more, at least not here.

Nope, PC Free Spirits are nerfed that way.

I'm fairly certain that PC Free spirits can still make use of Astral Shortcuts, like every other spirit. This doesn't let them teleport anywhere at will, but it does cover places that they have already been.

Also astral gateway doesn't let you teleport through the metaplanes. It does let you Project, whether or not you are able to do that normally. The main upside to it is that you can bypass The Dweller On The Threshold with it.

Right. I thought we were talking about getting a character with a physical body from A to B very quickly.

Of course it does.
QUOTE ('Street Magic p. 98')
The spirit can open an astral rift (p. 116), forcing all physical objects within the area to be dual natured, as well as allowing even mundanes to astrally project. The astral rift can connect to any metaplane the spirit can visit itself (so while a fire elemental can probably open a rift to the Plane of Fire, it probably can’t open a rift to The Hive).

Of course it does not... Read it again. It forces Physical Objects within the Area to be Dual Natured. Your Physical Body does not travel along, however. It allows Mundanes to ASTRALLY PROJECT. That is all. Says so, right there in the quote you used from the book. smile.gif

So which is it? are mundanes dual natured or astrally projected?

I did have a Troll once whos claim to fame was being able to survive a fight with a Main Battle Tank.
The only problem was he had to roll well to damage it with his Dikote axe (which meant either he scrapped it in one round, or he couldn't scratch the paint).
Glyph
The damage codes break down, period, when you have high ratings of hardened armor. If a tank has 40 hardened armor, it will typically completely ignore a 39 DV attack, and be completely destroyed by a 41 DV attack.

Bad character ideas...
I would love to combine two of the most infamous self-insertions of all time, and make the spellslinging pirate captain, Ebony Darkness Dementia Amber Flores Picard. biggrin.gif

You are a horrible, horrible person for reminding me of those fanfics. Horrible.

...Should have thrown a 'Bella' in there somewhere...

So which is it? are mundanes dual natured or astrally projected?

A mundane becomes dual-natured (and has no choice in the matter), and he can astrally project (if he chose to do so), detaching his astral presence from his physical body - the same way a shapeshifter mage is permanently dual-natured but can astrally project, leaving his meat behind.

Physical OBJECTS become Dual Natured (Not sure howe that works, and I am pretty sure that includes living creatures) and MUNDANES can become Astrally Projected. Again, it is right in the quote you provided... smile.gif

Reminds me of the part about trying to make a nuke go astral. Now you can have spirits fly a dual-natured bomb anywhere. Barring physical and astral barriers.

I remember reading that the ori bomb didn't work cause when it exploded it dropped out of the astral cause the projecting magician couldn't hold it anymore. The question is would the blast from a gateway bomb be dual-natured? And would it still fall under immune to normal weapons?

Nukes are powerful enough to affect everything. If it doesn't kill them, it makes them Toxic.

Last I read immune to normal weapons doesn't mean shit when the damage from them is ridiculously higher than the critter's force rating.

So we need a suicide bomber. With all the radical causes you should be able to find one. Or just do the "Do this and your family will be taken care of" route.

Pixies. Any pixies. After:

1: A Korrigan agent betrayed his team of five years to them when they started up for their big pay off because they had interests in the megacorp they were running against.
2: The Magician with 25 initiations under his belt dueled and killed Ghostcrawler in the skies above Denver.
3: The sadistic pixie assassin who had a penchant for flaying anyone taken captive, and then skinning them after they gave up the information.
4: The Pixie Sticks/Red Mescaline speedball incident.
5: The last one was into big women. After getting a harem of troll girls and the copious amount of brain bleach involved after everyone really thought about that, coupled with the previous pixies, any further pixie characters will have a THOR shot dropped on them in their backstory, free of charge.

Let me guess. His back story is that his parents were killed tragically in front of him when he was a child. Does he also have science expertise and make all of his own equipment? And does he have such enemies as: a red haired female magician that focuses upon plant control and growth? A crazed junkie that wears purple suits and laughs as he commits crimes? A former face that was scarred and now suffers from a split personality? A mind control mage that likes to terrify people? And a brilliant hacker that always leaves behind green question marks and riddles in computer systems after he's stolen the pay data? And an immortal elf adept who runs a secret society?

Might as well play a character of physical and mental perfection, who is as powerful as he is moral; who's physical and mental perfection comes from training he received from a team of scientists. Has a secret fortress of soliltude in the arctic, yet keeps a healthy bronze tan and an office in the 86th floor of a skyscraper in New York City.
