Don't forget, combining the two bonuses isn't strictly canon. By point of fact, using either of them isn't strictly canon -- both this variation of Adept Geasa and the rules for Ways and their discounts are optional rules. Using either of them is probably fine with some GM input and supervision. Using both of them? That's a little more likely to potentially lead to abuse and an inter-party imbalance.

Check with a grown-up first, kids!

But the Way Discount, though nice, will never apply to very many Adept Abilities (Though it CAN apply to some of the nice expensice ones). It IS a nice bonus to get that 4 passes for only 2 pp (assuming you are a Warrior's Way Adept with a Geas), but we all know that Adepts can often use a bit of love when it comes to their abilities, anyways. I would not have an issue with this. Of course, I am a bit of a stickler for appropriate Geasa as well, so...

Oh, Thanks for the Book, again, Critias. Quite Awesome... smile.gif

Street Magic, Page 81
under Fetishes and Talismans

"A talisman is simply a type of fetish and is crafted in the same way, though enchanting it requires a radical reagent."

The only house rule part would be requiring the adept to make his own talisman.

Right, I stand corrected. I am probably mixing old editions in again, sorry for that.

Well, 4th Edition does not work that way, so no Replacing your Lost Magic with a Geas. smile.gif

Isn't there any optional rule for it?

There is an Optional Rule for LOSING Magic due to Damage and whatnot. Don't remember seeing one for mitigating the loss with a Geas though. Could be there, though. After all, it used to exist. *shrug*

...ah! It's attached to that rule. If you use the optional rule of magical loss from glitching damage/stim patcjhes/medical treatment, you may take a Geas to prevent that loss. No optional rules for geasing away losses from essence loss though.

There we go. One of the things I am glad was removed was the ability to Geas a Magic Point lost due to Essence Loss. Good Riddance. smile.gif
