Recruitment currently locked, will change this if necessaryLooking to start a weekly game (days might need to be flexible as my manager is a twit and has no concept of schedules) that may have an over arching plot line as characters develop and story lines hit my fancy (or you as a player can help me when I bounce questions off you).
I'll maintain an OOC thread here.
My house rules (if errata is applicable please point me at it):
1: Invisibility and improved invisibility will work on astral perception, so long as they are sustained, once dropped they leave residue as a normal spell.
2: If I make an on the fly ruling to speed up the game play (because research is taking too long) than that ruling will be in play until the end of the session, if the actual rule is found, we'll address it or house rule it if necessary.
3: The game will likely go to dark or potentially adult themes, if you have a problem with the direction, give me a heads up so we can hash it out. I want to present a fun role playing environment, that becomes difficult if you get too disgusted/disgruntled/bored to continue. I've been known to use cannibalism, bunraku parlors and religious brainwashing just to introduce an NPC...
Standard 400 BP starting characters
Trying for Mirrored shades to Trench Coat play style, but if we all go Pink Mohawk, then so be it.
Seattle Based
Try to be specialized but somewhat rounded. One trick ponies aren't that fun.
Looking for 4 to 6 players, recruitment will be open for 2 weeks. Then we'll sort out/hash out what's what.
If you're interested but don't know what OpenRPG is, let me know I'll point you in the direction.

So very in. I'll throw a sheet up in a few hours.
EDIT: That'll teach me to read forums during a LoL loading screen. I'll have a concept for you soon.

Almost Normal, haven't had a drake in a game before, I'm still thinking about it. It'll be a lot of work to avoid being a one trick pony
Bucklesworth, sounds good but make sure you have more tools than sniping. I'm interested in getting concepts that mesh hammered out first.
RelentlessImp, still waiting for your concept.
Concepts we're looking at:
Magical melee (either adept or drake)
Stealth/Ranged
Things we need:
Computer specialist
Magical support
Social person
edit: d'oh need a vehicle guy

If there's still space I'm in.
Since mage has already been spoken for I'll try something else I've not done before and play a hacker.
I only have a vague concept, but since I've been reading Vice recently I was thinking of someone that works for a mid level Yakuza boss in one of the more open-minded New Way outfits, and is used whenever they can't (or wont) use their own resources for whatever reason...so while affiliated with the Yakuza, not actually a member.
Edit:
As another thing, I should point out every time a drake appears, according to the background on them, practically everyone on the damn planet wants them. The corps, the dragons, the DIMR, etc. so if there is one in the game it'd be constant levels of near fatal attention.

If you've still got an opening, I'd like to join in with an Elf socialite adept (Facial Sculpt, Melanin Control, Cool Resolve, the likes), secondary field as needed. Basically a con artist / art thief (maybe even forging some paintings himself) joining the pro league.
Bucklesworth
Jun 1 2012, 07:45 PM
I have a more flushed out character concept now.
Basically I'm going for a jack of all trades ranged combat expert and infiltration expert. My goal is to be pretty effective at close, medium and long ranges depending on what weapon I'm using and also to be skilled at infiltration and breaking and entering.
For background my character will be a middle aged ork who learned his skills in a radical Ork Nation terrorist camp with his older brother when he was a teenager. Since then he has become a lot less radical, although still somewhat prejudiced against Elves and Humans whom he sees as oppressive. Although he has mostly left the Ork Nation he still maintains a close relationship with his brother who is now the leader of a local chapter in his old neighborhood. Since leaving the Ork Nation he has applied his skills in the only marketable way he could think of, as a shadowrunner.
Also this is my first OpenRPG game, I downloaded the program and got it to run but I have no idea how to actually use it so I might need help setting it up.

I'm not so sure about that. I'll read up on it when I get home. If that's the case, I'd likely redact the idea, I'm not so haughty as to demand a gaming group centered around my character. If that's the case.

I've just googled it and realised what OpenRPG actually is, so given I'm on GMT...which is a fair bit ahead of the US, what sort of times were you planning to run the sessions? If it's going to be evening then I'll have to drop out as it'd work out to something silly, around 4am my time for a session.

Well, sadly, the stuffer shack I work in currently is managed by an idiot that has no concept of the importance of a "schedule" and she thinks that human beings don't need things like "sleep" or "a clue as to what schedule they might be working next week", so I may have to turn this into a PBP. however this means a few slight changes. However I'm liking the actual concepts I'm seeing.
Buckle, love the ork concept.
D'ark, nice idea. Maybe the "Privileged Family Name" positive quality to round it out.
Ear, nice. Reminds me of a lot of the face's I've wanted to make/run, so please go with it.
Almost, how about a mild compromise? Latent dracoform? It can play into an interesting larger plot or story arc

So, let's see. So far, you've got mojo, you've got looks, you've got your webmonkey, and you've got your get things done quiet and far away guy (from what I can tell by the posts). Suppose all of them are going to need a ride of some variety. So lemme introduce y'all to Bill-Roy Bud Billings, or TripB as he's trying to make himself known. A good ol' boy, he's the eldest son of the Billings Racing Family (thinking they specialize in cross country auto racing). He's in Seattle trying to promote their customized vehicles, and figures he'll raise a bit of hell in his off time. Of course, if bad publicity gets back to his family, he's looking at getting cut out of his pappy's will and shunned for life.
Essentially, redneck vehicle specialist (possibly a secondary gunner as well) who's mainly based off having the Trustfund (High) quality and his family as an enemy (enemy more in the idea that he can't really conduct running business while his family is visiting). Also planning to have him be an adrenaline junkie.

D'Ark, good move, get him registered and posting. Let's see his concept. I smell a game possibly starting soon.
Remember folks, have a skill or two that you're good with and at least one backup niche, preferably two.
Working concepts right now:
Bucklesworth, retired Ork terrorist (hello again folks from Homeland security, you may want to refer to previous files about this site, though I know that trigger word keeps coming up)
Ears, with his socialite face
D'Ark with his yakuza tie in's as a hacker
RelentlessImp, could you give me a hint as to the background of your magical support concept? we need one and no one else has stepped up yet.
Almost Normal, any further thoughts?
Taeksosin, in the interest of giving a newbie a spot, can we work together to tweak the concept? (unless you are D'Arks friend)
PM me for addy to send sheets. Prefer plain text, I'll be keeping track on in a spreadsheet of what I saw you use/purchase/etc with weekly or monthly checkups as needed.

It might be a good idea to start of a completely new player with simpler character archetype than a rigger. The vehicle rules are kind of arcane and confusing. Some variety of street sam or physadept might be easier to start with.

You may find mine short on BP. That's because I didn't include the 12 BP of Contacts he has, too. So just pop an extra +12 onto mine, and the math should check out, as I did the sheet entirely in RAW rule options on the SR4CG DK spreadsheet here on the forum. Read up on Drakes. Didn't really see anything that means that they're openly hunted or that the party would be in any danger. I'd like to continue to play as one, if that cant be done, let me know, and I'll resubmit a different concept altogether, I'm just not interested in playing melee otherwise.

QUOTE
Additionally, drakes, especially those that are known
to be aligned with great dragons, are being hunted down by
various hate-filled metahuman groups. Following these drakes’
deaths, which are usually carried out in the most heinous and
gruesome of fashions, vile messages are left at those locations,
written in the drakes’ own blood; messages referring to the
attacks of Sirrurg, and describing how these murders are retali-
ation for his acts. The last incident in this string of hate crimes
occurred last Thursday, in Neo-Tokyo, where the bodies of two
drakes belonging to Ryumyo were found mutilated. These inno-
cent drakes had nothing to do with Sirrurg or his activities in
South America, and yet these groups felt it necessary to punish
them for those crimes. Even by your standards, this is not justice.
Nevermind that they possess certain qualities unique to dracoforms that would make them hunted, or at least hounded, for reagents for telesma and whatnot.

Which puts them at more hunted then Orcs, and less hunted then Technomancers.
RelentlessImp
Jun 4 2012, 02:58 AM
Well, I'm not trying to discourage you. Just pointing out that drakes have a higher incidence chance of getting unwelcome interest from third parties. Running Wild states that they produce proteins and enzymes unique to dracoforms, and drakes are probably one of the easier dracoforms to hunt for money (urban setting, able to use overwhelming force, etc). Add on hate crimes against Drakes and they're pretty close to technomancers and blood mages and toxic shamans for people hunting them.

I'm available pretty much every day in the evening (after 5pm typically, CST [GMT-0600]). Days are hard to pull off because I have to take care of an elderly, infirm family member. Days are doable though, if people don't mind me running AFK every so often to take him to the bathroom or fix him some food.

So I mentioned this to a veteran Shadowrun player I know, and he's registered on the forum and is just waiting for his account to be authorised who would like to play. Also, both he & I think it'd be a lot easier to run it as play by post...him due to work availabilty, and me due to the time difference, so a decision about that would be appreciated
