So, let's see. So far, you've got mojo, you've got looks, you've got your webmonkey, and you've got your get things done quiet and far away guy (from what I can tell by the posts). Suppose all of them are going to need a ride of some variety. So lemme introduce y'all to Bill-Roy Bud Billings, or TripB as he's trying to make himself known. A good ol' boy, he's the eldest son of the Billings Racing Family (thinking they specialize in cross country auto racing). He's in Seattle trying to promote their customized vehicles, and figures he'll raise a bit of hell in his off time. Of course, if bad publicity gets back to his family, he's looking at getting cut out of his pappy's will and shunned for life.
Essentially, redneck vehicle specialist (possibly a secondary gunner as well) who's mainly based off having the Trustfund (High) quality and his family as an enemy (enemy more in the idea that he can't really conduct running business while his family is visiting). Also planning to have him be an adrenaline junkie.
This just got posted over on the SR4 forums, and I thought you might like this to help get into character:

As far as the pBP V OpenRPG, here's the sad truth. I don't have a schedule like most folks, my boss just arbitrarily changes the days week to week. I sorta hinted at this in the recruitment start. So it comes down to no set day or even time, week to week. When I have the week's schedule, I'll put up in the OOC thread when the game is. As this will generally suck for everyone involved, I will have to drop any hope of OpenRPG and try to run this as PbP. Almost Normal, I know you were wanting OpenRPG, sorry it's just not as feasible as I had hoped.
RelentlessImp
Jun 5 2012, 06:41 AM
Aw man. I was really hoping for OpenRPG. PbP pace is so slow. I was looking forward to a little real-time shadowrun action.
If you post your schedule, maybe we can occasionally do some OpenRPG sessions when everyone's available?

Spur-of-the-moment type stuff where we can quickly move through what you have planned when everyone agrees and can make it to a session when you're available.
Nikoli
Jun 5 2012, 08:15 AM
I was hoping to basically move the slower stuff like data searches and leg work to OOC, while leaving combat and interactions to OpenRPG. Typically I have Tuesday's off, but not always.

It might be a bit of a hassle but myth-weavers has a really well integrated pbp system that could simplify and speed things up dramatically. But it would be a little inconvenient to switch as people would have to make new accounts and whatnot.
Nikoli
Jun 5 2012, 09:09 AM
Eh, I'm rather comfortable here. After all, all my stuff is here
Now, down to business, who is still in if we go to PbP?
Or, who's up for a random, oft changing gaming schedule that's tormented me for the last year?

I'm in whether it's PBP, OpenRPg or a mix.

Oh, since it was asked
Books I have access to:
SR4A
Arsenal
Augmentation
Runner's Havens
Runners Companion
Seattle 2072
Street Magic
Unwired
Vice
If you want to use something I don't have, let me know so I can look into it. No I don't have an unlimited fund for books, I have roommates with uncanny taste in books
Ugh, I hate being "that guy" but I'll have to decide. PbP seems the most logical. If I can train my manager into some semblance of logic, I may open an OpenRPG game.
For those that are out, I'm sorry to have gotten your hopes up. Pace can be made up for with good if/then logic in your OOC postings.

Yep. You had me with the boring stuff happening between games, too. That's something most RL playgroups could learn from.if you're at post by post alone though, Im sadly out. Shame, too, had a fun character thought out.

I'm still in, just allocating Bill-Roy's BP around is being a huge pain because there's NEVER enough when you wanna be a fancy pants rigger. Still debating between the Rover and the Gopher as his vehicle of choice.

Sorry I've not sent my sheet in just yet, I had a new idea for my hacker last night after my headache finally cleared. He's still going to have pretty much the same background, etc. (though to make the story I came up with work I've de-emphasised his Yakuza ties somewhat) but, this was my idea:
Instead of using his own avatar whenever he's doing something, he always appears as a standard hi-rez scan of a metahuman, either one he found online or just someone he saw on the street, so he appears as someone different every time he tries to do something, and runs under the alias of Proxy

Jun 5 2012, 11:28 PM
I think I'm going to wind up annoying Nikoli. I've sent him two versions of my sheet so far, and I'm working on a third revision to work in more skills and whatnot to be a little more rounded.
Nikoli
Jun 5 2012, 11:31 PM
That's fine by me. I won't get annoyed until it starts happening after we start

d'Ark, he has to reply to the authentication email iirc
d'Ark
Jun 6 2012, 12:39 AM
Yeah, he has, but it still wont let him post. Says he needs an admin to approve it?
Also, sorry for the delay, I'll have my initial sheet up tomorrow...I can barely think straight at the moment, so it's taking me a bit longer to get it down. Since I've never played a hacker before I'm just modifying the 20th anniversary edition sample hacker, since it seems like a decent enough place to start to me.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FEEwwJGyCZg...eature=youtu.beI resemble that remark, thank you. I'm just a high tech redneck working on his CS degree.

Edit: Silly question, curious what sort of dice pools people are throwing around at their primary/secondary skills. I mean, I figure since this is a game on dumpshock 20+ pools are probably the norm, but I figure it never hurts to make sure I'm at the same pace as the rest of the team.
RelentlessImp
Jun 6 2012, 02:36 AM
Currently throwing around 10-15 dice for my primary role, but only 7 for my secondary. Could probably pump them a bit higher but I wanna round things out a bit.
taeksosin
Jun 6 2012, 02:48 AM
Nifty, that's around the range I'm playing in myself. So, at this moment we have mojo, face type, hacker, and myself rigging? Trying to figure exactly what my secondary role ought to be (thinking vehicle(primary)/drone(still pretty good) rigger and either gunbunny or techwhiz depending on team makeup) as well as what my vehicle is gonna be (really tempted by the Rover, the Tata Hotspur, and the GMC Hermes).

So far we could use tech and for the love of Dunklezahn could someone take First Aid?
Also, with Almost Normal dropping out, we need some melee options.

Well, naturally, being a off-road desert racer extraordinaire, Bill-Roy has an inkling of how to slap a bandaid on someone and listen to the auto-doc.

Nikoli
Jun 6 2012, 04:01 AM
Imp, what happens when it's you that needs it and you're just a drooler on the floor of the van? Do you really want an autodoc making the decision as to how and where to cut to pull the bullet out?
RelentlessImp
Jun 6 2012, 05:25 PM
Better an autodoc than a nervous kid...
Nikoli
Jun 6 2012, 06:16 PM
They just don't take your awakened state into account, the nervous kid could
RelentlessImp
Jun 6 2012, 06:24 PM
Maybe. But I'm the sort to trust a programmed automaton whose hands aren't shaking like mad to go through a routine procedure over the kid who's sobbing and shaking and nervous. Just the way I am, I guess.
Professor, on the other hand, might trust the nervous kid more. I dunno. Haven't gotten that deep into his psyche yet.

PbP due to Nikoli's lack of a schedule.

PbP due to Nikoli's lack of a schedule.
And a lack of a competent manager...
Also, June 12th will be the deadline for character submission.
Those still working on characters, I highly recommend perception and some way to defend (dodge or gymnastics).
You can ask the others, I'm combing though the sheets, reteaching myself the system as well as entering it into my gm sheet. I make no assumptions about motives, just seek clarity so we can both see the same thing.

Jun 6 2012, 07:45 PM
Are you looking for one of each type of character or can there be doubles?
Nikoli
Jun 6 2012, 11:52 PM
Single for primary niche, feel free to double up in your secondary/tertiary roles so you can help out if necessary or finish it up if the primary for the role is out of the picture. The possible exception would be rigging, as you could focus one on drones and the other on non-drones.
taeksosin
Jun 7 2012, 01:43 AM
So folks know, I'm aiming for vehicle rigging/drone rigging as the primary (though, to be honest, it's very nearly the same it just means my RiggerVan is more pimped than the drones), tech as my secondary (hardware, software, armorer, mechanicing, etc), and tertiaries are mainly spray and pray automatics and some first aid. Obviously, perception and what not is also involved in there, but yeah.

Jun 7 2012, 01:44 AM
I'm almost hoping someone comes in with a Mystic Adept. I've always been curious to see a good one in play and to see how they split their Magic attribute between Sorcery/Conjuring skills and Adept powers.
EDIT: Professor's primaries are Combat Magic (highest dice pools are Spellcasting, Summoning, and Counterspelling), with a secondary role of high Perception abilities (9 for Perception, 6 for Assensing) and a tertiary role of fire support with a Savalette Guardian for bursts of suppressing fire. Just don't ask him to talk to people, as he's technically a Freak.

Jun 7 2012, 09:00 AM
Heh, I've left 30BP of my character open to see what Nikoli/you all think might be something missing once all the characters are in and one of the options is switching to an aspected mystic adept to get some summoning abilities (7 dice for spirits of air, forget anything else).

Talking about dice: 14 for Influence, 11 for Intimidation, 9 for listening/watching, 8 for disguise and a lot of stuff in the 4-6 region.
taeksosin
Jun 7 2012, 03:09 PM
I've developed into a pretty good backup hacker (11's or so for most matrix tests, really hard to NOT be one as a rigger), 10's driving, 15 for shooting people via remote control with zee drone, 9 doing my own shooting, and I do okay with first aid at an 8 (gotta love that +6 medkit

)

Jun 10 2012, 08:00 AM
Alright, then I'm working on a mystic adept that is a detective type character that specialized in non-lethal take downs.
Nikoli
Jun 10 2012, 08:05 AM
That works, be aware that the runs will be criminal in nature, less on the solving but it's possible that things will alternate. I can always adapt based on that characters in the game.
We currently have 3 approved characters, 1 in process. Waiting on initial sheet from Touch. Taeksosin, might want to spend those last 30 bp and get the expenditures out to me
This leaves 1 slot open for d'arks friend if they can get onto the board, since the bases are mostly covered I'll consider recruitment locked for now. If that changes, I'll post here.
Need to know, are you guys an existing team (makes things so much easier for me if you are)?
If so, how much do your teammates know of your life outside of running?

This question prolly shoulda been asked first. We can probably be an established team with a job under our belt so far, if everyone agrees - barely acquaintances, a little respect, and so on. Or we can have Food Fight run and meet up that way (always a favorite of mine to run a new group through to have 'em meet up. It never gets old).

I'd like to go with the did-one-job-together-nobody-screwed-up-willing-to-work-together-again-route.
As for what my character would tell his team mates about himself: In broad strokes what he's been doing since he came to Seattle.
So, he's a con man, likes to paint (with this little common history he'll claim it's just a hobby), likes Troll Trash Metal, can't hold on to money (or women) for long, considers partying like there's no tomorrow to be a sound investment for his ill-gotten gains and thinks filling up on hangover pills before a night out counts as long-term planning. He's up for shooting the breeze over beers, invite you to a cool party, but won't give you his real first name yet, so you better call him Faces (or whatever his SIN says at the moment).
