Well, it never hurts to listen to suggestions, I guess. smile.gif

lorechaser - no location preference
Scarecrow - prefers Seattle, but all three are ok
ArCha - slight tendency towards Hong Kong, then Seattle, then Denver
Hudson - prefers non-Seattle, leaning towards Hong Kong
faultline - prefers Seattle, otherwise Denver

Right now, it looks like Seattle is slightly prefered over Hong Kong, with Denver in third.

Faultline - how talky is your guy? I could swap out my focus on Con for a group skill, with a 3 cha, and get 4 dice in each. That's not a ton, but if we're at -4 otherwise, it might be worth it. wink.gif

his Con is decent 7 dice pool is what I'm looking at so far

btw my suggestions are Detroit, New Orleans, Boston in no particular order smile.gif they're all a bit different than the norm, and while there not might be a lot about them in the books that might be the best thing big gooey globs of clay that you can shape to your will and whatever evil plots that come to mind smile.gif

Hudson
Thanee,

where do you stand on cyberlimbs and attribute averaging - 5 limbs or 6 limbs (incl. the head) ?
Thanee
Hmm... I actually think that in most cases you would only count 4 (arms and legs).

Note the comparitively low Capacity of the cybertorso. I doubt it is meant to have enhanced attributes as well. And figuring a cyberskull in there seems rather silly.

I think the advantage of having some (official) material on the location is not to be underestimated (so you don't have to make up everthing smile.gif).

And even Seattle isn't described in such minute detail that there would be no room for shaping it.

As for the team and how we all know each other....

Well, I'm part hacker, part street medic, and I DO have a mobile medical shop built into the Conestoga bus I live in. Could be that at some point or another, I gave medical attention to one or more of you.

As far as Contacts go, I stayed with contacts local to Seattle, but they can be changed to whatever location we end up playing in.
Thanee
I generally prefer locations that offer a wide variety of options (which the three I listed are all prime examples of). smile.gif

But, you don't need to stay there all the time. If you feel like making a visit to another sprawl, that should be no problem (generally).

Bye
Thanee
Thanee
To get somewhere with the locations, how about this:

Each of you gets 3, 2, and 1 points to give to the three locations (Seattle, Denver, and Hong Kong); i.e. one gets 3 points, one gets 2 points, the last one gets 1 point. Then we just tally up and see who is the winner (not sure which one it will be, though I am fairly sure, that Denver will come in last). smile.gif

Another runner living in a bus? Maybe we met at the local parking lot. Still working on equipment though so that might not stick.

How good are you as a doctor ? Moroz needs quite a lot of 'maintenance'. smile.gif

[EDIT]: Oh, and:

Hong Kong 3
Denver 2
Seattle 1

I took the Biotech skill group at 3, as well as taking every knowledge skill and active skill that has anything remotely to do with medicine. I have to look to verify, but I believe my first aid and medicine dice pools are around 10-12 dice.

There is a very specific reason my character is a street medic that will come out in-game, assuming Thanee approves the character.
Hudson
Thanks, and absolutely no need to verify anything.

That's definitely good enough for Moroz. smile.gif
lorechaser
I count 7 HK, and 8 for Denver and 9 for Seattle. I'm really considering Denver, since it has the split thing, and since onlyn1/4 people rated it last. Seattle is a bit overdone.

Screw it, I'm going for it! Sorta.

3 HK
2 Denver
1 Seattle

MuahahahahahahHa.

Nah, I'll be non difficult and go Seattle 3 Denver 2 HK 1. I'd enjoy HK, but I don't have any sort of a feel for it.
Hudson
Final tally:

Seattle 12
Denver 9
Hong Kong 9

Seattle it is.

Let's see what Thanee's Seattle has to offer, then. smile.gif

Seattle it is. I still want Chicago, but I'll live in the Pacific Northwest. biggrin.gif

Character coming tonight. Something about being in the office today has prevented me from even looking at my character. Just have to get background done, and then hope it gets approved.
Scarecrow
Character sent to Thanee.

And it's a dice pool of 13 for medical skills. biggrin.gif
lorechaser
Resubmitted mine with updated info, taking suggestions, and adding to my social.

I upped my charisma and took the influence group, and a couple specializations. I've got 5 dice for most social, and 7 for bargaining or impersonation. Not amazing, but at least we won't be defaulting to 1 die with people wink.gif
faultline
Character is mostly complete, I didnt get a chance to work on him today seeing as I left my house in a hurry this morning was running late to carpool with a friend I work with and left it there plugged into my tower where its doing me no good especially when its been dead at work for the last 2 hours frown.gif

He should be done tonight/early tomorrow
Thanee
Don't worry! We have enough time to get the characters finished.

@everyone: If you can get a first draft (or as finished as you can get) done by the weekend (or earlier, of course), that would be great! smile.gif

Hudson
Still working on the 'ware mix and balance, both money- and essence-wise, but I should have Moroz ready by Friday.

Quick question regarding future upgrades: If I start the game with an Availability 8 cyberarm plus a Street Doc contact with connection rating 3 and wanted to add 5 points of customization for +5 Availability down the road, would that be possible because the doc only has to get those +5 AV parts for the existing cyerlimb or impossible because the resulting AV of the arm as a whole would be 13 and therefore above his AV limit of 12 for a C3 contact?

Thanks!

Thanee
It would be AV 13, yes. But it would also be ok (as cybernetics can certainly be considered a specialty of a street doc).

Belatedly here’s a concept for a Seattle based game (I’d probably do something different for another sprawl as I don’t have a handle on them and so would probably want to play a newcomer…)

Street Handle: Cam
Archetype: Artisan Adept
Role: Enforcer for an Urban Tribe “The Mechanicals” – a steampunk group of scavengers and tinkerers on the edge of the Puyallup barrens who sell their stuff at the crime mall
Team Role: Jack of all trades, a little bit of combat, stealth, influence and tech skills (assuming I can cram them into the points allocation of course!). I figured as a reserve character it would be quite useful to cover a number of bases as we don’t know who won’t be available.

I’ll work on stats once I’ve had a chance to do a character sketch – always the first thing I do smile.gif

The changes (limits) to the Karma generation actually should make it easier to build a JoaT-type character. smile.gif

Still working away; it's been a busy week but I'm almost there. I should have the first draft done in a couple hours. I was wondering how you would like to handle smartguns and drones? I've always stuck to it working only when a rigger is jumped in but I don't think there is an official ruling.
Thanee
They work just fine either way, AFAIK.

ArCha
That ended up taking a lot longer than expected but I'm sending a draft over now. I wasn't able to afford a mobile home and a getaway vehicle for you folks so I guess I'm looking for a new home. smile.gif
Aria
Quick question - is there a group fixer that I should spend points on? Sorry if this has already been decided but I may have missed it...
Thanee
No, there isn't any group contact so far.

Bye
Thanee
Aria
Ok, I'll take it that means we aren't getting a freebie nyahnyah.gif

I suggest we set aside at least 1 loyalty, 3 connection for a group fixer...unless anyone has a better idea? I guess we could just let the 'face' do all the talking smile.gif

At least not before the game starts. biggrin.gif

But you will certainly get some new contacts during the game... smile.gif

Speaking of Fixers, it might not be such a bad idea to know some different guys here, too, considering the house rules for contact specialties.

I'm thinking of taking two group contacts (my tribe and the adjacent one). Both will be between 20-100 people, one has a smattering of magic and the other a heavy matrix side - is this ok? I've also taken my tribe's leader as a separate contact as he'll probably act as my defacto fixer...? Would a group be able to get a couple of specialities as they've had more points invested in them?

This is what it's looking like at the moment

Sorry if I kind of dropped off for a few days there I'm still around just work is shifting me around on the schedule to pick up the slack for the employee we just lost.

Character should be done, just want to double check and then I'll send him your way Thanee

I took a connection 2, loyalty 2 fixer but I'm not exactly the social type.

Character is done and sent

He's a former CIA field operative that ran into a complication with the job, and is now turning toward the shadows.

Primary Focus: Firearms, Influence Stealth.

Secondary Focus: Athletics, Close Combat, Electronics.

Tertiary Focus: Cracking, Mechanics, Outdoor.

Mine's named Lydia Fabri, but that's just my generic fixer name. wink.gif We can go with Raymond Chen.

And I've got Influence 1, Charisma 4, and I took specializations in Bargaining and Impersonation. So I have 5 dice in general Influence, and 7 to get us more money. wink.gif
Scarecrow
I name my fixer Jacks, but I can change that to Raymond Chen just so we've all at least got the same fixer.
lorechaser
I keep tinkering with my character, but I think I'm finished now. wink.gif

Also, I found http://www.myth-weavers.com/forumhome.php - they have an online SR4 character sheet that I'm filling out. Seems convenient.
ArCha
I've used the mythweavers before and it's pretty good. I do like that if you name your GM, they can edit the sheet as well. These days though I'm really in love with Chummer and just email the file for that if asked.
Makoto
I get the 100th post! biggrin.gif Any openings for one more character or the game is already set and done? Just lemme know anything before I take part in it.

lore, I took a peek at the other forum and I can say the skin design is great.
