If its a cyber-zombie, why not go all out, and tack gyromounts, strength 18 cyberarms, recoil reducing extra limbs, and other crap designed to make it a walking killzilla.

Damn, my next cyberzombie villian will be named Killzilla.

QUOTE (Moonstone Spider)
Here's a thought:

Since the Cyberzombie gets the extra action, he can, in FA mode, fire 12 bursts using 2 weapons before anybody else gets an action.

I think I'm missing something here.

Where did you get the 6 Complex Actions that would require? At best, such a character would get to make eight BF or SA shots or four FA shots (total) using two firearms before someone else got an action.

I've pointed things out rationally to individuals like toturi and Kakkaraun several times in the past, especially regarding plain English things like this. It's a pointless endeavor. If my frustration annoys you, I apologize. But blatant ignorance like that annoys me every bit as much.

As much as I can understand your frustration here— and as Kakkaraun sort of notes, you are right and toturi was unnecessarily nitpicking— your reaction was really all belligerence and didn't really get the point across. That said, I should apologize for my response to this as well, as it was also out of line, though I would like to note that your general behavior on these forums is generally quite unnecessarily bellicose, and that my snapping was, really, a general response to your conducy than that purely contained in this thread.

QUOTE (Kakkaraun)
But the fun part is when it turns out that you're obviously entirely wrong and you try to run from it! Now, in this case, you're clearly right. But that doesn't excuse your puerility.

Oh, and Arethusa: why does he get a whole eloquent paragraph and I get stuck with one meager, simple sentence? I feel left out:(.

While I must admit that I did not set, perhaps, the best example, when I asked you to stop, I meant it. This kind of ad hominem sniping is absolutely not necessary. I'm not saying you can't take issue with Lime's behavior; I'm saying you're being just as flameworthy and childish in criticizing him as he is, and perhaps moreso.

And this brings to my point, really: while I admittedly went about beating the crap out of Lime specifically, he is by no means the only hostile and antagonistic person here. It is not beyond everyone on this board to display some fucking civility, and that is all I ask.

Yeah, I'm not seeing where he got those 12 bursts from either.

Firing in full-auto is one complex action. You could fire a three-round burst, another three-round burst, and a four-round burst (there is an example on pg. 115 of the main book). If you were using two weapons (using the CC rules for doing that - and there are full-auto capable SMGs), both in full-auto mode, you would be able to fire 6 bursts, instead of 3. If you had two passes to go in, instead of only one, then you could take two complex actions, making it 12 bursts. Although, as Moonstone Spider also pointed out, the TN penalties would make it very ineffective.

For Move-by-Wire, remember that the people who have it, cyberzombies for the most part, are basically human guinee pigs. Megacorporations have economies of scale, and labor and material costs are subsumed into their day-to-day operations. That 16-million price tag not a good representation of their cost. It is for the rare runner successful and connected enough to get this experimental 'ware installed.

I think Move-by-Wire and the cyberzombie process are good ways to create something cool and dangerous that can be used for the opposition, without too much worries that the PCs will pick it up. Instead of saying they can't have it (which would infuriate most players), they make it super-expensive and give it a lot of nasty side effects.

QUOTE (booklord)
Wired Reflex 3 + Reac Enhancer 6 -> 18 + 4d6 -> 32 -> 4 actions
Boosted Reflex 3 + Synaptic Acc 2 + Reac Enhancer 6 -> 14 + 5d6 -> 31.5 -> 4 actions

So a maxed out reaction characters are pretty close in average reaction. Of course the wired or boosted character could possibly give themselves a greater edge using the Super-thyroid gland and Adrenaline pump but the line has to be drawn somewhere. The edge has to go then to the move by wire character who benefits from the the 2 extra actions.

Minor Note: Any self-respecting munchkin would take the Enhanced Artwinkulation bioware for +1 reaction on either of these.

MBW 4 already has a lot of drawbacks to it, and the Essense/nuyen.gif costs are already extremely prohibitive.

The MBW-guy won't get 2 actions before others get 1 anyway. The extra action comes in at the end of the first Initiative Pass, after everyone else has taken his move. The other extra comes at the end of the 2nd IP, after everyone else has acted on it.

It's still 1.5x as many actions/CT on average as with the other initiative boosting ware.

Our Team: Hilarious decription of a funny event in my opinion.

Everyone else: Uhm doesn't it say in the begining of the 3rd Edition book all you need to play SR is the main book, so really that means Man and Machine, like every other book is optional, right? (Gee I bet whomever wrote that line regrets it.)

If all else fails refer to the rule on page 38 paragraph 3.

Yep, they are optional.
