i still maintain my right to be surprised and disappointed at todays game makers not being able to do something interplay did 20 years ago basically . .
take a look at fallout tactics. do an 80% copy of that game. adapt to shadowrun. done. perfect. next. but noo . .

Remember, too that Interplay went under not long after Fallout Tactics was released, precisely because they couldn't manage to keep their development under budget. rotfl.gif

You know, something has just occurred to me about SRR.

I wish Charisma was useful for more than picking up Etiquettes and vital for summoners.

Specifically, I wish it increased the number of ally runners you could bring along.

Say, at Charisma 1, you can handle the standard 3 Runners - IE, your core team, your bros. This goes up by 1 every other Charisma, 3, 5, 7, 9, and 11, so that an Elf with maxxed out Charisma can actually coordinate a team of 8 Shadowrunners. This would actually give me a reason to hire the mercenary Runners, because between paying nuyen to drag some poor uninvolved shmuck into my big story arcs and just taking my free, and better-in-every-way teammates, I'm gonna bring my teamies every time.

I also wish there were more options to use Charisma to increase your payouts... Grump...

Just gonna add this: it doesn't matter to me, personally, if you back the kickstarter or not. I'm getting paid for my work on Shadowrun: Hong Kong either way. But if you do back it, it'll let us make a way better game. It's just a question of the tiny size of the team.

I can't - and won't - speak for Harebrained* on this. I just know I'm working on kick-ass stuff and I am sure the game will be really awesome. Yeah, we're limited by the engine and time and all kinds of other shit, but it'll still be a great game.

*My views aren't those of HBS, the rest of the team, the President of France, or anyone else but my own. I'm working on this game because the timing was right and I couldn't pass up a chance to work on my favorite game world ever.

I know precisely how you feel. biggrin.gif
(Different project, same thoughts)

I'm glad the timing is right for someone😄 I haven't won the lotto or had my stock explode yet or I'd write a personal check to get stealth in.

Long story short, I spent a lot of time and effort getting into the closed alpha for a game, as I really wanted to have the input to prevent it from turning out like an earlier title.
Then more recently a subsection of those people were offered an additional opportunity and I jumped on it like a kid in a candy store.
Its not a paid position, of course, but I'm happy to give my time, hang out with some folks, and do what's needed. It's been fun. But it's weird how I went from "I'm never buying one of their games again" to "dedicated tester."

Adarael, what exactly are you doing for the game?

I don't normally buy location books, but I'm definitely going to pledge enough for the map, and I'm on the fence on the book (mostly because we're in the hole due to some RL issues this month).

Hmm, I remember reading somewhere that they wanted to improve the etiquette system, but I can't find it on the KS page...

My greatest misgiving with the project so far is something different: Mitch Gitelman didn't get pelted with vegetables this time around, I'm DEARLY disappointed biggrin.gif

Shut the front door! That's awesome!

Right now my 8-year-old is playing through Dead Man's Switch and loves it (even if it's a bit tough for him), and is pushing me to run a pen and paper game for him.

Officially jealous, my son is four and doesn't quite grasp pen and paper games yet, though he can already do things I can't in Lego Star Wars

As a software developer in a different field, I appreciate what you guys are doing on a limited budget and with a small team. My hat is off to you; can't wait to see the results. cool.gif

It's a really trippy experience working with such a small tightly knit team, because my previous two jobs were at Monolith (Shadow of Mordor) and Xbox. Jordan wasn't kidding when he said the group in the video is the Shadowrun team - that's literally all of us. I'm used to a lot more bureaucracy and process. At HBS, it's all "Go, go, make the game!"
Not of this World
Love what the harebrained team is doing. Its amazing what harebrained is doing with such a small studio and limited budget.

greatly looking forward to seeing the results of the latest kickstarter. I backed for the second time around.

Go, go, make the game then!

You are awesome!

So since the team is really small, could you walk over to the guy who is responsible for the rewards and ask him whether the out-of-print book reward means a voucher for DTRPG (their scans are a bit hit or miss) or fresh new scans?
Adarael
When he's not in a meeting, yes. I will do so.
Adarael
DTRPG codes.
Sengir
Pity, but thanks for the customer service even if the result might not be in your favor smile.gif

I would have been interested in a decent version of UB, but the drivethru version looks like some illicit scan from the dial-up days...
