Ikarus shudders for a moment and twitches as while he works online.

As your channels begin to latch onto the banking vault file, a surge of electrical interferance surges from the matrix and you can feel your prescence on the 'trix fading ad the interferance blurs your connection with the 'trix.

Sonofabitch, so much for luck, oh geez I hope my nose isn't bleeding again, man this bytes. So there was a bomb on the goods. Well, gotta tend to that I imagine.

Taking a virtual breath to steady himself after the shock, Ikarus begins to disassemble the bomb before him.

Corbin's palms start to sweat as he waits.

Your channels leech the acount information from the vaults computer and store the accounts and amounts offline. A twitch, though, and the matrix seems to react to your presence. Torches along the walls illuminate with a yellowish glow and the icon of the war god Mars steps through the door, glaring at you and once again raising his red sword in an offensive posture.

Seeing the EOF tag whip past his consciousness as the light from the torches change, Ikarus stares upwards at the God and waves goodbye, fading from the system in a logout sequence.

As you fade from the host, you see Mars swipe at you with his blade. The viral code sweeps through your now insubstantial living persona and slowly the physical world fades back into focus. You can see Lynx to your one side opening the door to the safe and on the other Slash seems to be wildly jamming credsticks into some boxes. Trace and Corbin are still up on the catwalk by the door, the former staring at something about a meter above the safes that you can't see and the latter nervously watching the door.

The banging on the door becomes a bit more insistent and then stops for a moment. Then, an electric whirring sound seems to come from the other side shortly followed by a somewhat louder vibration.

Wiping sweat from his brow, Ikarus looks over at Slash and hands him the pay data OMC, "Miss me? Thought you'd want this to go with those."
Once it is secured with the other sticks, he slots a fresh OMC into the pocket computer and takes up a safer position from the door.

"Ikarus! Grab another box and help me with these!" Lynx calls. She starts shoveling the cresticks into the box. "Slash, when you're done with those, start trying to find a way an alternative way out of here!"

"Right, drek! Sheesh..."
Ikarus graps a box and starts moving chips in double handfulls into it.

Yanking the bag closed Slash sets it down heavily on a table. His Wired Reflexes leaving his actions twitchy, but quick. "You got it." He begins slowly moving around the room looking for an exit, whether it be a thinner spot of wall that he can cut through, or some sort of vent system.

Wandering around the room you notice two things that could provide an escape. There is a vent along the floor below the catwalk, almost directly beneath the entrance to this room. Also, there seems to be another vent above the safes in the ceiling of the room, but getting to that one could be a problem, what with the height of the room.

Moving quickly Slash reports, "I've got two exits, one up, one down. If anyone's got rope up should work better." He jogs over to the vent near the entrance and gives it a good tug to see how firmly in place it is.

Either the vent was not securly fastened to the wall or you're stronger than you expected. The vent comes off in your hands and you stumble a moment before correcting your footing. You look quickly into the vent andi t looks like it only goes back a few meters. Maybe there's a turn in the vent shaft?

Edit: wrote "feet" and changed it to "meters"

"Down, we don't have time for up." Lynx calls to Slash as she finishes dumping the credsticks into the box. "Let's go gentlemen!"

As Lynx turns from the safes and moves towards the vent shaft, two things seem to happen at once. First, Trace curses loudly: "Drek! I got this," and slumps to the ground as the fire elemental materializes and bears down on Lynx and the stolen credsticks. But, before it can reach her, it stops and dematerializes, presumably to engage Trace in astral combat.

Secondly, the banging stops on the door. The room is oddly silent for a moment as you all pause.

Lynx drops the credsticks and pulls her pred, crouched in a defensive ready position. "Corbin, grab Trace's body and get down here," she says. "Slash, is that vent gonna work? Cause it may be our only option now."

Knowing which is the better option for the team, Ikarus snatches up Lynx's load of credsticks and adds it to his own.

"I can't get you a good read on where we'll be let out, but we'll fit." Slash moves over and stands next to Lynx, Drawing his blade as he moves. Sliding into the ox guard he flips the blade on, the small hum of his blade fills the room as Slash settles into his stance.

"Ikarus, go first and go fast. The rest of us will be right behind you."

"Right."
Securing the sticks, Ikarus then shimmies into the vent, crawling his way along.

As you push your way into the duct dragging the credsticks, you get to the right turn and maneuver your way around it. Unfortunately, it only continues for about another few meters before ending in another vent, this one looks more solid thanthe first and has a small, mesh covered hole in the center.

@Anyone Not in the Vent Shaft
Trace's body twitches a few times and some blood begins to drip from his left ear.

@Corbin (Over the Guard's Radio)
James, are you ready?

Backing up quickly, "Frag! Don't think this is a good way guys."

"Frak! Ok, let's try going up. Drag the tables over and get the shaft open."

"Drek, it's hit the fan now." moving as fast as only enhanced systems let him Slash moves to help set up a table in front of Lynx to provide cover.

Lynx puts the table upright under the vent opening, sheaths her pred and looks at the shaft to see if it's a pull open or an unscrew open.

"Shit! I'd have to inscrew it to open it, and we don't have time for that. Corbin or Slash, do you think either of you could pull it open?" She jumps down from the table a pulls her pred back out. She glances at Trace's limp body. "Let's move guys!" She says trying not to let her panic show.

Corbin nods and goes to work.

Checking the table, Slash hops on top. "well, I got the other one open..."

Jumping up he tries to grab the grate with both his hands and yank, hard.

With a squeal of metal, Slash pulls the grate out of the ceiling. Looking sheepishly at the rest of you, he looks at the grate in his hands for a moment before tossing it onto a table.

"Alright, every body up."

Planting both his feet Slash prepares to try and help people into the upper grate. Hopefully this one will open up on the other side...

"Ikarus and Corbin, get going first. I'm going to wait as long as possible for Trace to get back."

Letting Slash lift him up, Ikarus shimmey's up the ventilation system as quickly as he can.

With Corbin's help, you can get yourself into the duct. It runs from above the safes across the room roughly over the entrence way. The little light that passes you from behind in the vault makes the confining tunnel seem even more claustrophobic.

Speaking quietly, "It's dark up here."
Ikarus begins edging forward as quietly as he can manage.

"guys, I think I hear gas, so if you can try to move it."

Slash is still standing under the vent to try and get people up into it.

"Shit! Guys what do we do about Trace!?" Lynx asks trying to keep her cool.

For a moment there is silence in the room. How that Slash has called your attention to it you can hear a slight hissing sound from the vent by the floor. Trace remains immobile for a few seconds more before he gasps and sits up, looking startled, "What did I miss?"

Lynx breathes a sigh of relief. Now they didn't have to worry about leaving a team member behind. "Nothing special," she says to Trace. She helps pull him to his feet and tells him to get on the table and get a boost into the vent.
