Gilga
Some health problems, it would take some time to carry on.
Thanee
Sorry to hear that!

We can wait.

Get better!

Bye
Thanee
Volker
All the best, Gilga!!
Thanee
Does Fox even have a weapon to drop? wink.gif

Bye
Thanee
Gilga
Not much, he has a small pistol which is more for self-defense than for raiding a facility.
Gilga
I'll wait for Volker to comment and move on.
@Thanee please roll charisma + con to see if you convince the guards for being unarmed.

Recall that they have other senses like bnc seeing icons of stuff so it is not flawless.
Thanee
Sure. smile.gif

Charisma + Con: 4 hits

Bye
Thanee
Thanee
Nova will give bnc as much time as she can to do whatever she can do. smile.gif

But, yeah, once the guards come close, she will attack them.

So, I guess we should wait for Volker here...

Bye
Thanee
Volker
Sorry, life was busy and I totally missed Gilga's return from the dead. I will be gone from Friday to Monday, from then on I can post on a regular basis again.

We are lightly armed, aren't we?
Gilga
You have light pistols, Nova has (I think) a heavy pistol hidden in her cyber arms.
Thanee
If we got light pistols at some point, I do not recall. biggrin.gif

Nova has no visible weapons. Her gun is hidden in a cyber holster in her leg.

Bye
Thanee
Gilga
It was a long time ago RL. Thanks for that clarification.
Thanee
Go, bnc! biggrin.gif

Bye
Thanee
Volker
biggrin.gif She will ^^ psychologists are her area of expertise, I guess biggrin.gif

I'm back from that LARP con, so I should be able to post more frequently now. Thanks for you patience, dudes!
Gilga
@Volker please give me charisma + etiquette (+2 for RP) to avoid the test.
Volker
I don't have etiquette, alas:

CHA-1: 3d6t5 2
Volker
Just to let you know: Since it's way too late to roleplay that one gaze they had, I'll just let you play until Nova's part is finished. I'm checking constantly, but I'm not in the scene.
Gilga
I'll try to speed it up, sorry it is taking so long RL is difficult sometimes.
Volker
Null sweat, it's summer. Enjoy your rl first!
Thanee
Yeah, no worries. smile.gif

Bye
Thanee
Volker
To let you know: From today evening till Monday, 8th, I will be on a festival and I won't be able to post. From then one until September 4th, I'm going to be in Nepal. There, I will be able to post sporadically. So if you want to make Nova's single run a little more extensive, that's a good opportunity.
Thanee
Hey Volker!

You are back.

BTW, this is the OOC. wink.gif

Bye
Thanee
Thanee
I will repost your two posts here. smile.gif

Also notice that you cannot reboot, all the overwatch you accumulate stays with you for this entire story. You are always in the simulation.

Huh? I thought there were two different kinds of OS: the "matrix magic" one where I alter reality in a magic-like way, where the AI tracks my activities and OS never erases; and the regular hacking according to the standard rules of Shadowrun. Did I get that wrong? Can I never ever use any of my abilities in this simulation without expending a resource that is both scarce and impossible to replenish?

The more you hack the more you are likely to be discovered. No way around it.
Gilga
@Thanee thanks!
Volker
So there is no difference between altering reality and classic Hacking in here?
Gilga
Not as far as overwatch is concerned.
Thanee

From then on until September 4th, I'm going to be in Nepal.

Oh, right. Volker isn't quite back, yet. smile.gif

Bye
Thanee
Gilga
Yeap he is still in Nepal.
Volker
Hoi, chummers!

I just returned back to Austria. It's close to midnight and I've been travelling for over 20 hours, so I won't be posting today, but I already read everything and should be able to get a post up tomorrow, definitely the day after. So, I'm back, fellas!
Gilga
Volker! You were missed.
Thanee
Welcome back! smile.gif

@Volker the control room is in the underground facility below Core, the one mirroring the facility you are in.
It is near the "Management" room where you met the Drake in the physical. The bunker you tried to raid and got arrested was a storage facility.
Volker
How can a room within the simulation be near a room where we met someone in the physical?
Thanee
Maybe both have the same layout?

So, it would not be near the physical room, but rather near its representation in the simulation.

Bye
Thanee
Gilga
The simulation essentially simulates the base and its surrounding (without Prague). So a similar layout base exists under Core.
Volker
I find myself unable to interact with the world without understanding its places properly. Do you think, you could draw us a crude map of the simulation, including the very most important details about contents and matrix security. For example, I was ruminating about the plan to hack the supply chain but I don't have the slightest idea where I would have to go to gain direct access to the host, where we really are at the moment, and so on. That would be mighty helpful.
Gilga
Sure, I'll try to draw something. However, you are also welcome to add stuff of your own. You could try to hack the host of the bunker when you were there, and with anything even manually driven hackable, you can also hack one of the tracks leading equipment to the bunker. I'd assume you can even disable a guard and take their weapons. Don't treat it as a skill test, a cooperative story telling is more in the spirit.
Volker
That's my point entirely: I can only do things with the environment when I know about it. Maybe it's also me paying too little attention, or just the fact that months pass by so quickly but I wasn't aware that I was close enough to hack the bunker (without fighting the system at its full defense), I don't even know what tracks you could mean that are hackable.

You know me: I want bnc to be Sprinkles. But for that, I need a clear idea of what there is and is not. And right know, there is actually mostly confusion. o.O
Gilga
Okay some recap, so far you have 3 locations on your map.
1. The cabin you entered the simulation illegally from - and the one you are likely to use to leave the simulation.

2.1 Core Top-side -a residential area with 12 tall buildings and 2k apartments.
2.2 Core Bottom-side - Core is located roughly in the same place as your facility, the topside is a residential area built on top of the bunker on the mountain, and the bottom side looks just like the facility on the meat-side. All the bells and whistles controlling the simulation are on the bottom side, and people live in the top side.

3. Storage bunker for storing the weapons out of reach when people go crazy and start killing each other.

You are right now at the Storage bunker,
1. you sneaked in to steal equipment before your raid on Core-bottomside, then you discovered a scripted (non-realistic) trap (Nova got a warning from someone and chose to listen to it).
2. You decided to ambush a track instead of stealing directly from the bunker.
3. You decided to ambush the track close to the facility to make sure you get to stop it. The drawback is that you needed a stealth check to remain hidden until the track arrives. You failed that check and got captured but since you technically did nothing wrong yet. You got they released bnc and Nova but kept Fox as he was too volatile, and they don't trust him not murdering people. The two of you are stable enough to carry on with your nightly activities in the frozen forest.

So right now, you are on the road between Core and the storage bunker. If you hurry you can still ambush the track (would be very strange to do so at the entrance to the facility though). Alternatively, bnc can use her magical hacking powers to make sure some drone fetches you what you need from the bunker. Here she has two alternatives - a difficult roll or someone sneaking to form direct connection with a device in the bunker.

I also made a map (well, a drawing). It came out kind of ugly, but perhaps it is of use.

Volker
This was quite helpful. Thank you very much!
Thanee
Yep! Definitely very helpful! smile.gif

Gilga
@Volker, after the edit file, you have a device slaved to the host. Assuming that is the small detail you needed to change - you do not need to hack the host - you hacked the simulation. Now you can (for example) have a direct connection to the host, which for all intent and purposes, would let you place work order. (possibly some more hacking but since lesser defense dice pools let's call it a success).

The resistance roll was very close, by the way:
resist: 18d6t5 8
Volker
Why does the gun resist with 18 dice? It should not have more than device rating 2 or so, and I do have a direct connection.

Aaaah, now I understood: I need the Watchdog action to get a mark "on the simulation", and then I need an additional "edit file" to alter the simulation, and the simulation (not the host) resists with 18 dice. Did I get that right?
Thanee
Copied from IC:

QUOTE (Volker @ Sep 20 2022, 09:52 PM) *
So no FlySpys, Noizquitos or any armed flying drones? That's sad.
Can you give me just a little more detail on the dog drones? Are they also unarmed (except for tasers)?

Gilga
@Volker exactly instead of hacking the host you hacked the simulation and changed a minor detail. You could also stopped the van in that particular manner, or turn a gun into a potato or a bomb.

Etc. The effects are temporary though and the less realistic the change the faster it would be undone.

There are no spydrones in storage because the bunker stores mainly weapons and a little bit of armor. The dog drones I was thinking of the Aztechnology crawler but feel free to take any walker drone roughly that shape. The dog drones are also armed with tasers, but you know once they have a weapon mount you can mount other small weapons as well so all pistols should be alright. There are multiple flying eyes in the city which you can try and hack.
Thanee
Are there and mods for the weapons, like smartlink and such?

Bye
Thanee
Gilga
Yes, feel free to modify them as you see fit.
Thanee
But only the external stuff, I guess.

Bye
Thanee
Volker
Thanks. Do they have quick-draw holsters?
Silencers?
What about backpacks to carry stuff?
Thanee
Where did you get that Ingram Smartgun from? smile.gif
