Sure. I probably won't have the spirit attack, I have a different idea. Maybe it works. smile.gif

Well, we are coming to the end of the round.

Unless you still have an action to post, please roll second round initiative here in the OOC, so I don't miss it.

Plant Spirit: Ini: 20+2d6 28
Thanee
Raven 20
Spirit of Air 36

Gilga
AM's rolls:
Level 3->2: Jungle fun -3: 6d6t5 2
Level 2->1:Jungle fun -3: 6d6t5 2
Level 1->0: Jungle fun -3: 6d6t5 2

so 3 stun - unless we can rely on Mato's roll being the one holding AM as he jumps and tumbles.

New initiative: Initiative: 13+1d6 19

PS I edited my last post to also consider all the vegetation.
Beta
Tamarind init: init: 14+2d6 18
Gilga
For Trouble. Initiative: 10+2d6 15
Jack_Spade
@gilga
I don't know if chrome arms are that comfortable to be carried in, but yes, everyone jumping down should make that roll.

Initiative table:

Air Spirit 36
Plant Spirit 28
Raven 20
AM 19
Tamarind 18
Mato 18
Trouble 15

Since the Air Spirit doesn't have a command just yet, I'd say it takes full defense as it's under attack.

Plant spirit
Ranged attack: 19d6t5 8

Air spirit
Full defense: 40d6t5 17
Tecumseh
Mato Initiative: 1d6+15 18

As for the Gymnastics rolls, I'm going to include Mato's Leaping specialization and his hydraulic jacks, since they also benefit leaping. But if this test is more about balance and less about jumping then we can drop those dice.

Agility 10 + Gymnastics 2 + Leaping 2 + Hydraulic Jacks 6 - Impairment 3: 17d6t5 5 hits (can drop 8 dice and still have 3 hits)

Agility 10 + Gymnastics 2 + Leaping 2 + Hydraulic Jacks 6 - Impairment 3: 17d6t5 6 hits (can drop 8 dice and still have 3 hits)

Agility 10 + Gymnastics 2 + Leaping 2 + Hydraulic Jacks 6 - Impairment 3: 17d6t5 5 hits (can only drop 2 dice and still have 3 hits)

Not the greatest sequence but should be serviceable.

Getting close to 1am here so I'll knock out a fast IC post.
Thanee
Poser! biggrin.gif

Those leaps are one for each story? So, Rachel should be one story down, already, which means she needs to do two more? Is that right?

We are still on the afternoon, right? No sunset, yet (which is a shame, that nice spirit would probably be very useful during the night).

Guess I do not need to be too stingy with those services then and can just have him carry Rachel down safely. smile.gif

Gilga
@Jack, sure thing, should be fun.
since its astral, do I get a willpower roll to resist the damage? I assume normal body/armor don't work.
Thanee
BTW, do we get -2 dice on mundane checks due to being dual-natured? Or is that only for Astral Perception?

Bye
Thanee
Jack_Spade
@gilga
no, the damage comes mainly from a rough landing (you are jumping down 3.5 m without being able to properly roll.

You could just make a body+will soak roll, but I thought that gymnastic would be likely the higher dp.

@Thanee
You are making three leaps per level, but only one soak/gymnastics roll

And no, you are technically not assensing but dualnatured (yes, I know, assensing makes you dual natured, but natively dual natured characters don't suffer that penalty and so you won't either)

Gilga
body + will is actually 2 dice higher - but wait I roll three times or once?
Jack_Spade
Three times to prevent three instances of three points of damage
Thanee
Unfortunately, only 2 hits on Arcana.

But maybe if I relate my findings to the others, they have better luck. smile.gif

Do we have any clue why the spirit suddenly got sucked back in? Did they maybe call the spirit to their side to ask for another service?

Bye
Thanee
Jack_Spade
Your best guess is that a safeguard activated - or some kind of geas
Thanee
Hmm... maybe they want the spirit not to stray too far from the apartment, because that brings quite some attention.

Maybe also some weird stuff from that artifact, if they used it on the spirit.

Question: Can you still mentally communicate with a spirit, that is outside your control range (Magic x 100m)?

They must know that someone is here, because the Ward was broken down. That would alert the one that created it. Question is, how much they can learn without actively investigating.

And another question: Freeing the spirit from the bond isn't possible without Banishing (or killing the summoner), right?

Would disrupting the spirit be at least better than the current state?

Bye
Thanee
Jack_Spade
SPIRIT-SUMMONER LINK
A spirit doesn’t have to speak to his summoner out
loud. It can communicate telepathically with the sum-
moner, even from astral space, so it doesn’t even have
to manifest to receive orders or make reports. This link
allows for communication over a distance but does not
extend to the metaplanes, nor does it allow any other
visual or audio connection. With this link, a summoner
knows when a spirit he has summoned has been dis-
rupted, as he will feel the loss of the link.

So, yes, it an communicate with its summoner. So they can ask the spirit what's going on.

And no, breaking the binding would require the mage to release the bond or die. The spirit is free when its services are used up - but rebinding can add new services.

Spirits don't like disruption - but this one doesn't seem to enjoy living here either.

Yeah, obviously disruption isn't great either. But might be the lesser evil here. One month of "vacation time" (and also one less spirit they can call upon).

Alright, but body (6) + will (5) is better than agility (8 ) + 1 gymnastics, so let's keep that one, Mato dances around the thornes while AM just embraces the pain wink.gif

two extra dice (body +will > agi +gym): 3#2d6t5 1 2 0

so 1 stun total wink.gif
Jack_Spade
Adding to the assensing information: The spirit inside Gladius is a F8 Guidance Spirit and looks like an ally spirit like trouble.
Gilga
Alright, since AM is skeptical she'll use judge intention aided by Mato's software. (was it +3 dice ? there is no hits so it is an academic question but I want to stop forget using it).
Judge intention (+3): 11d6t5+3d6t5 4
Tecumseh
I am belated realizing that Gladius is Jack's old PC from the RPG Playroom Stormy Waters games. Specifically, the Forbidding Aegis game four (!) years ago.

I vividly recall it because it was the first and only PbP game I ever flamed out on simply because of the sheer volume of output from you three (Jack/Beta/Gilga) + adamu/mercy/electric_muppet. Case in point, March 29, 2019: 5,300 words! Oh that was intense. I was just starting a new client at work and I was completely frazzled. I'd start typing a post and by the time I was done, 500 new words had been posted by someone else that made the post I just finished obsolete. That was a good lesson about how a game can be too fast, which is generally not a problem in PbP.

Anyway, I don't remember anything about Gladius other than he was a psionic and had some trick for casually making Ichante a potent power focus in his downtime.
Jack_Spade
Yeah, that was an intense game. I like to reuse characters - cuts down on character development wink.gif

The OOC of why Tamarind has no contacts left in the smuggling business: with 2 charisma Tamarind didn't have a lot of contact points to play with, and I chose to invest them in Seattle
Gilga
Contacts, the way I see it, are people you maintain a relationship with - you probably know many, many more people due to life experience, but there is a gap between knowing someone and having that someone agrees to do something for you.

In some games I play, we used an edge action to introduce a new contact on the spot, which you can later add to your sheet by paying karma (or not). I am unsure if it is raw or a house rule - but if we use it, it seems like a good fit for Tamarind rather than saying something like I don't know anyone there for metagame reasons.
Thanee
If we are actually flying, Denver is not that relevant, though, or is it?

Bye
Thanee

One of the perks of flying with the private jet of a multimillionaire are the much less stringent ID checks 😉

Downside: anyone remotely matrix savvy can probably track that the plane flew to Texas. Are they remotely matrix savvy? A chance we might have to take.
(I guess they could also just send a spirit to check if it is still in its hangar in Seattle, and if not then guess what happened)
Jack_Spade
That would only tell them that the plane is gone.

Theoretically, you could also use levitation to get out midflight - though that would be a bit extreme...😅
Gilga
There might be high BGC in these heights, I suspect.
Tecumseh
If we're flying, we're not really concerned about Denver. It's about 2,575km direct between Seattle and San Angelo, which should be within the range of any private jet.

The Denver concern is more relevant to smugglers. Denver was a huge smuggling hub, both as a destination for goods but also as a pit stop for the t-bird crews. If that's been disrupted then with luck that will slow the targets down and allow us to catch up.

And, yes, Mato was going to say the same thing that Jack just did: there are perks to flying on a personal jet. If we ask nicely, maybe they'll even let Tamarind take the flight controls!

We sure have come far in the SR world.

Ah, didn't realize/remember that III has also met Victoria. Then the Gracie angle does not make much sense, I guess.

... and the detox spell would allow me to drink that terrible Hurlag without poisoning myself - or at least without all the discomfort while my body burns from the inside, helps keep that stoic expression to impress Mato. Using it on Rachel would spoil the surprise but work first.

Sometimes I miss the crazy high powered games we had with Aria...
... But operating legitimately opens up so much fun in the other direction as well ☺️
Gilga
@Tecumesh - I'm glad you appreciate it.
@Jack -It sure is different, I mean in Aria's games we just leave trails of bodies and mayhem on our wake, and here we haven't killed a soul since the start of the game. (as much as I remember).
Beta
We have! In the first section that I ran Jack turned the mind mage/murderer into something small, and then IIRC squished him.

(Whether or not the mage who got turned into a cuttlefish (something of that family anyway) and then petrified and then had tentacles broken off actually survived the spells being dropped was never established, but there was at least a plan for them to be at medical care, so we'll call that 'probably didn't kill')
Jack_Spade
I flushed them down the toilet - and tbf Bobby was a lot more feral back then, also that mind mage had it coming.

I have no complaints about what Bobby did. That mage was a problem, and Bobby's solution was quite valid.

Latest IC post has information based on the Coyotes splatbook. I haven't read it recently but I remember liking it and thinking that it was helpful. It lists the UCAS/CAS border as "Easy", which mechanically makes it half as hard as a "Normal" border.

There's also some information from... The Neo-Anarchist's Guide to North America? The problem is that the books start to blend together when you've read 100 of them over 30 years.
Jack_Spade
@Tecumseh

I assume you didn't see my post, but I find it a hillarious image of Mato ignoring the security guy and coming back out of the house with a wagonload of guns rotfl.gif
Tecumseh
Ah, you're right. Looks like you posted yours while I was writing mine. I do wish Dumpshock would warn us when that happens.

I figured that we were loading up Tamarind's van in the garage, but I'm not above using the more comical interpretation. At least it's not duffle bags full of, say, body parts or mind mages or dwarves transformed into sloths.

About to run out the door to do some errands, but I'll toss up something fast to move us along.

Edit: Isn't it later in the evening though? We met the III at 15:00 in downtown Seattle. After the meeting, we drove to Bellevue, did our investigate, had our hiccup, spoke with Gladius, then drove home. Depending on how long it takes to pack, I thought it would be 18:00 or so by now.
Jack_Spade
I was at 17:00h
Jack_Spade
@beta: there was no second drone. The actuator was part of the electric can opener.
Thanee
If we can get something, Rachel could have her spirit deliver it. Before sundown, he is still around. She probably would need to accompany him in the astral, and maybe guide him back to the plane (with Trouble as an "astral beacon" it shouldn't be too hard to find it again).

He can get really fast even materialized with Sprinting a few times and the Movement power (if I calculated that correctly around Mach 4 biggrin.gif).

Bye
Thanee
Jack_Spade
Yeah, that sounds about right wink.gif
Gilga
Its a bird, a plane - no, It's Raven's hypersonic air spirit!

Thanee
Just for the fun of it...

F12 Spirit of Air

Agility 15 -> 60m per Combat Turn.

Running 12 + Strength 9 -> average of 7 hits per roll.

Initiative 28 + 2d6 -> average of 4 actions per Combat Turn (with up to 6 Sprinting actions per Combat Turn).

That's 28 hits on Sprinting per Combat Turn.

Every hit gives the Air Spirit +10m of Movement.

So, 60m + 28 x 10m = 340m per Combat Turn.

Movement Power multiplies that by 12 for a total of 4,080m per Combat Turn (3s).

m/s -> km/h is x3.6 (x60 for minutes, x60 for hours, /1,000 for the k), so m/3s -> km/h is x1.2.

4,080m/3s x 1.2 = 4,896km/h.

That's pretty fast! biggrin.gif

Bye
Thanee

P.S. So, how about casting Physical Mask on the Air Spirit to have him look like the Flash and run around town to trigger speed cameras. rotfl.gif
