CBT definitely had its delays, to the extent (at fan request), precise release dates aren't given anymore until very close to the actual release date. People kept getting too pissed that the dates given months in advance would slip by months.
The latest CBT books are getting close to being on schedule. The FanPro/BT people have been learning their lessons about where publishing can go wrong, training new people for work on bottlenecked parts of publishing (layout), and adjusting schedules to allow for problems.
I think FanPro/BT got out all the books it wanted for GenCon.

I play, but I haven't been grabbing up most of the newer stuff at the moment since me and my friends have a ton of the old stuff (and second eddition mechwarrior was so much better than 3rd

) so in all honesty I haven't payed attention to their release dates.

Funny, My local shop out here in Portland has Classic Battletech on it's New Arrivals table. I wasn't even aware this was in the works.
Makes me wonder, hmmmmm...
Classic Shadowrun?

The "Classic" label is only to distinguish it from the "new" Mechwarrior line, which is a collectible miniatures game (by WizKids, the same folks who make Mage Knight).

It's called Classic Battletech because Mechwarrior Dark Age was originally going to be called "Battletech: Phoenix". Thus the need to differ between the 'classic' system and the new. But WizKids product ended up being called MechWarrior instead.

OMFG! Book am late! I am teh hate Fanpro now! DEAFH To PHANPRO!
Thanks Discount Games. Now I know who to hate most in the whole wide world. The book is going to be late, possibly by a week or two, or even more.
Oh noes. I've spent more than a week of my life waiting for late trains. I really couldn't care less, as long as eventually the book finds its way into my hands.
In fact, this gives me time to scrape together money to buy the thing, so thanks for the extra time Fanpro. Much appreciated.
I mean, seriously, who didn't expect the book to be delayed? Anyone? Every other book has been delayed a little, and everyone screams like it's a surprise when this one gets delayed. Live with it. It's a book.

I'm sure there's a sane middle ground somewhere between the enraged swarm of rioting peasents storming Castle Fanpro and nonplus suggestions to completely abandon holding the company to any standards when it comes to actually publishing a book.
Some people are certainly being melodramatic about it, but there's nothing wrong in pointing out that missing released dates is irritating. The wrong impression would be given if nobody seemed to mind a chronically sliding release date. Heck, unless the posters are literary masochists, the reason they're upset is they really want the product.
Or they could simply be getting off by trolling. But I'm sure nobody here would possibly be doing that.
Ultimately: shit happens, and from the sound of it this particular delay isn't Fanpro's fault. I only hope they learn from the experience and pad their estimates more in the future.

It is odd that the shadowrunrpg site hasn't changed / amended the release date.

What I want to know, is this supposed "problem at the binders" just with the regular print run, or is it affecting the Limited Edition as well? Are the copies of the Limited Edition that weren't put out at GenCon sitting in some warehouse somewhere, because either the binder or the distributer is refusing to ship them until the regular edition ships too?

What the Hell makes you think they'd do something sensible like that? After all of the problems with not just this book but like every book for at least a year? Besides, it appeals too much to the collective masochism of Fanpro and its consumers to fix.
Runner paul, i'd say it's possible, in an attempt to prevent retailers from from receiving their LE's that people ordered, and then canceling thier "unneeded" (potentially" Reg. editions, that they may've ordered to meet the requirments.

At this point, they're running the risk of having the retailers not need any copies -- Limited, or otherwise, due to an alienated customerbase.

I don't expect that Fanpro to be using the same binder again. Of course my hunch is based pretty much solely on
voices i'm hearing in my head. But that's really no more than i usually have to go on. *shrug*
P.S. It's really sad that Fanpro hasn't been able to get the BBB out faster. Likely slowly losing, or at least delaying, sales every day.

Ok, I work in a bookstore... Every month I'd say at least 40% of books are delayed for one reason or another. Feast for Crows by GRRM has had as many missed release dates as humanly possible, Robert Jordan is caught up in litigation with TOR which has basically changed Knife of Dreams release date to "the day after it shows up in our reciving department". It isn't limited to Fantasy either. Heck Salman Rushdie's new book Shambla(sp?) the Clown got delayed by a few days due to a missed shipment. I've heard every kind of customer bitching about missed release dates from "I need it for my kids birthday tommorow." to "YOU STUPID SON OF A %&#^ WHAT THE @*#&!@ DO YOU THINK YOU'RE $*(%*ING DOING NOT HAVING MY @(#&* BOOK IN YOU DUMB @(#*$" Trust me it's just par for the course for books.

On October 4, 2005, at 2:53:21 PM (PDT) I received an email from UPS, informing me that my order from Studio2 Publishing is underway. At 5:51 PM UPS received billing information and at 7:59 PM UPS had done the Origin scan in Knoxville TN, and is on schedual to be delivered on the 11th of October.
There is one and only one thing that I have on order from Studio2; the LE SR4.
Of course I know this is all the work of the Illuminati, whose powerful, to scale, replica of the Bohr atom quantum interferometer feeds off the dashed hopes of gamers everywhere so they can power their powerful powerplant of world power dominational derivative and anti-derivative accelerator which heats their blood stained tea in their blood stained tea-sipping rooms and that the book doesn't even exist and isn't even in TN, and is even with the UPS (who don't even exist anyway), even though I know all this; I'm still pritty excited.
As a well conected Johnson, I'll let those of you who are interested in on when the shipment's on its way, and its general route. The pay is good, but beware the UPS Mechanized Assault and Delivery Agency Machines (MADAM) as they are both deadly and redundant.

Amazon has always been about a month late, from the time the books appear in my local game stores, but that's with game companies with big distributors, like Wizards o the Coast. For Shadowrun, I've had wait periods of up to three months. For just about everything else, school, music and DVDs, they've been fine. But with the game stuff, I've even pre-ordered stuff, waited the extra month, Amazon then lists the product as "Available and ready to ship" on their normal page but they don't update my pre-order (sometimes for over two weeks), so then I've cancled the order, re-ordered it and it's shipped the same day on several occasions, and the next day at the worst.

DVD's are not books, and they are especially not RPG books. Amazon is quick on shipping stuff when they receive it, but they typically don't get RPG books until 3-4 weeks after FLGS. Why that is I have no clue, but it has been that way for as long as Amazon has been around (at least in my experience).
