I just assumed the obsidian arrow heads were broadheads.  I don't understand how he would have enough space/material from a target point.

Oh, leaf/inverse heart broadheads have quite a fine point to pierce tough hide/leather, so a variation on this design.

A flat-cross section point that widens slowly at first to maintain armour penetration, the micro-delay explosive head housed in the wider base then fires mono-filament/obsidian particles in a open-choke shotgun effect through the new hole in the armour?

Using an arrow and arrow heads much more room for specialist effects.  Ultra-light arrows are hollow carbon-fibre tubes with an aluminium core.  Replace the alu-core with something nasty?

In short yes, and if a arrow isn't an edged weapon, then neither are most spears even though they're in the category.... but I don't wanna hijack either. Adhoc alone can decide if he feels it is legit. The katana can be worked a few other ways, but it's not important. the damage codes are accurate for the final effect. the reason that most of the game masters who I have played with let me run the char is that it's pretty tough to make new arrows quickly or cheaply, and the katana is in the strictest sense perfectly legal. Again, only Adhoc can decide.

The confirmed issues with my sammie are resolved, I think. Sorry about that, it was a quick revision of an existing char.
If you really want I can do an all around rebuild of him, and give him more legitimate gear. By the way, the omission of armor is intentional, as that has a lot to do with playstyle

Okay, I already blew a lot of hot air around about what gear the infiltrator needs... anyone have any ideas? maybe a lil less nutty ones?

as for a power to geas, I'd go with empathic sense and make it a condition geas "while not in combat" or something... artwinkulation is really pretty important to an infiltrator. I think that the print scanner might be a liability in actuality, but that'd depend on how Adhoc feels about body compartments and their shielding. Lastly, don't forget to actually buy your whip :: grins ::

2. Maximum 6 points of edges and flaws. They doesn't need to balanced.

A little clarification on that one please ...

Does this mean that the character can have edges with a total build point cost of 6 and flaws with a combined build point return of 6, but don't need to be balanced?
Or is that the standard rule that you may only spent or gain a net value of 6 build points when adding up the total costs / gains from edges and flaws (e.g. Ambidex 4 (at 8 points) + uneductated (at -2))?

hey adhoc? are we allowed 6 total edge and flaw points or six points of each?

6 of each: but the same amount of points.

...in other words: they have to have flaws for all their edges/edges for all their flaws. The building points for the edges and flaws has to even each other out. This is to prevent the characters from having a neglible flaw in-game, whilst promoting the use of edges & flaws with constant in-game prescence.

So I guess ambidex 4 is a no go then ? biggrin.gif

Update for Daniel. Fixed typos and included equipment/lifestyle info.

I've still got 2302 nuyen.gif left to spend. Any suggestions? Things I should change?
Eyeless Blond
Ooh, Edges and Flaws have to be balanced? Hmm. Okay, lower Athletics to 3 and Electronics B/R to 2, and add in Quick Healer.

get some detcord if you can? I think avail is low enough. it's great for blowing doors off their hinges. pretty quiet too I think actually...? can anyone check?

one thing I'm worried about is that the char might not be able to see some of the active sensors that might be aimed at him\her...
Kagetenshi
Avail 10 according to McMackie's .DAT files. *Curses the lost books*

thought it might be ::sighs::
The first thing this char should go after is a rating ten crate of spray foam explosives. Shouldn't be hard with the Faces he's got, since the rating doesn't scale the avail (oops biggrin.gif )

you'll want broadcast decryption too, as well as some way to get through mag doors reliably other than raw skill checks.
Eyeless Blond
Broadcast decryption is for the people who will have the ability to intercept signals and scan frequencies, like (hopefully) the rigger. If I were to spend any more in boradcast equipment it would be to upgrade the encryption from level 3 to 5, making it all but hack-proof even for the most munched-out electronic warfare specialist.

As for noticing sensors, he's already got Magic Sense, Thermo, Low-light, and Scent, all as natural senses. All he needs is to initiate once and pick up a few ear enhancements (high-freq hearing, sound filter 5, hearing amp, and dampening), and he'll even be able to pick up ultrasound. What more do you want? smile.gif Maybe I should invest in a portable ultrasound detector?
Eyeless Blond
The only real way to get through mag doors other than with skill checks is a passkey, and those are damn expensive (40k nuyen.gif for rating 4). That's a priority item to buy, but not as important as the rest of the stuff on that list.

Ugh, I just realized this guy's got *no* ranged weapon capabilities. Feh. Too few skill points. Maybe I should trade in the whip? Damn, but the whip is so cool! smile.gif
Zenmaxer
one of my friends swears by a whip for his char, but I hate 'em so :: shrugs ::

All this char building is great, but I'm more curious about this Role-Playing Class. Adhoc, whats the go? Are you a teacher by profession? More info please!

I'm still working on a decker character for Janus. He will have a deck - I agree with a previous poster that starting without a deck puts the GM in the awkward position of having to act like Santa to get the decker functional. I may do two versions - one with a CMT Avatar, and one with a Hyperdeck-6. I should probably get it done sometime this weekend.
Eyeless Blond
My thoughts on the matter are if the GM lets you use Masking mode, the rule for supressing IC with Hacking Pool, *and* the HP-for-DF rule you can get away with a hyperdeck, as you can get your DF up to 11. If the GM allows only Masking Mode and supressing IC with Hacking Pool, then you need an Avatar and you are really going to be in trouble with a DF of 9. If the GM allows neither of the two optional rules then you're better off not decking at all and just hiring multiple NPCs to do it (as you'll be hiring a new one for every run); it's better than making a new character every session.

(Edit): Btw, any further thoughts on trading the whips skill for Pistols or something? I like the flavor of a whip, but having no ranged combat skill is just so crippling... meh.

Argh! Jesper has changed his mind: he wants to play an elven fixer/face instead. Any takers?

The class is voluntary for the kids and once a week. Each class-session is 3 hours. We play various forms of RPGs: Shadowrun, Cyberpunk, D&D and so on...only one at a time, though. I try to expose them to various RPGs and to prepare them for becomming gamemasters themselves.

The classes are for kids between 14-18. The students are very motivated and likes to play games in the spare time as well. I've had the class for 3 years and enjoy it a lot. Allthough they tend to do stupid disruptive things from time to time.

I get paid 250 Dkr./hour, which is around 40 US$/hour, so it's a good pay. I can't make a living of it because of the few hours, but I have it as a student's job while I study. I'm studying at the IT-University in Copenhagen to become a concept-developer for computergames. I'm current doing concept-development for the Student's Massively Multiplayer Online Game (<-there's a free demo you can download).

Ick, another one? You've got two faces in the group already; one that's focused on knowing everybody and one focued on negotiations and looking pretty. Is there anything else to focus on for a face?
Herald of Verjigorm
Hmm... I'll whip up numbers for a neuromancy specialist. You are an the verge of too many faces already, but this'll have a bit more general functionality than another face.

That's fantastic Adhoc, I never imagined such a thing would exist (but I'd always secretly hoped). I don't want to bug you, but I'm curious now. Is there any other info you can provide, links, etc? Is this program isolated to the one school or is it widespread? How did you come to be employed? What is the academic justification for letting the kids play games?

I can't really provide llinks as such. The schools are called "Ungdomsskoler" (Youth Schools) and they teach all sorts of strange classes; like how to make jewelry, LARP, French, Guitar-playing etc.

The classes only take place in Denmark, but are widespread all over the nation. I wouldn't be surprised if they had the same kind of schools in Sweden or Norway; they have (close to) the same mind-set about teaching and kids.

I have two/three other friends who also teach these classes. I got the job from a friend, who quit it; he asked if I wanted to take over.

The academic justification for it might sound strange to americans; but the essence of it is at we teach the kids to co-operate, prevent them from running around and creating trouble and if we teach foreign games (ei. english games), they actually learn the language as well. It's a very socialist and humanitarian attitude towards teaching. The demands on the curriculum isn't very hard and there's no exams. The basic assumption is that if they have a good time, they'll learn something as well....and experience has taught me that if they aren't enjoying themselves, they stay away (the classes are voluntary).

Case in point:I've never been to an english-speaking country, but I read and write english well enough to get published.
