Very nice. Still, I'm sure the GPS has all of the street names, El stops, and Dan Ryan ramps easily brought up onto the screen with the touch of a button. With an accuracy of probably around a few meters at worst, I'm sure we'll soon know pretty exact distances for our destination. But, why don't you roll that skill up for us...?
Ecclesiastes
Oct 18 2004, 09:25 PM
Cause we don't roll for ourselves.

Right, right, I mean ask for a roll in a sec here.
Mr Hamster
Oct 18 2004, 11:15 PM
Speaking of which, Sphynx, can you put up some roll history for the combat?
Just so we can know basic stuff like what sort of armor and attacks we're dealing with here, or even basic stuff like how many bugs there are in combat?
Sandoval Smith
Oct 19 2004, 12:13 AM
As for number of bugs, just take a quick look at the battle description. There were 16, but we've managed to take out 10, with three more going after Tony and Terry each. It is kind of hard to get a count in the midst of battle though. As for armor, they seem to be falling readily enough before determined melee attacks, and completly shrugging off the damage from fire arms (curse you, immunity to normal weapons!). Given the descriptions, the attacks are all melee, but it would be interesting if we knew what kind of bugs we were dealing with (I.E they look like beetles, or roaches, or cicadas, etc).
Mr Hamster
Oct 19 2004, 12:18 AM
Or I'm also curious as to the power of the attacks they're directing at us, or how competent they seem at combat.
Whizbang

*visualizes the bugs from Starship Troopers*
Sandoval Smith
Oct 19 2004, 03:30 AM
Except for maybe spirits that made a good transformation, I never pictured them as being particularly good at combat. It's more the fact that they are big, strong, ugly, and quick. So yeah, a lot like the starship trooper bugs.
Mr Hamster
Oct 19 2004, 04:27 AM
Or are they using basic tactics, like flanking us, using cover, destroying force 1 weapon foci etc.
Basically all we know is that there's some bugs, and they're fighting us.
I was just curious for some of the details you may get in a tabletop game, but I'm pretty new to the boards, so if that's not how it's done, sorry.
Sandoval Smith
Oct 19 2004, 06:17 AM
The difference between this and a tabletop game is that this is 'real life,' so we don't get a good overhead view of what's going on (and it's a good thing that no one here has force 1 weapon foci). As for armor, they've got carapaces, but they don't seem to be doing much good at stopping bullets (although it also doesn't seem to hurt them), blades, or staffs. The bug's just seem to be rushing us, going for whatever weak spot they can find. Fleshforms and regular spirits aren't all that bright from what I remember. It's the good merges that you've really got to worry about.
And boy, looking over the stats and dice pools you guys have listed in the lasted combat... man, am I a lousy min/maxer.
Cthulhu449
Oct 19 2004, 06:54 AM
Heh, if I were a good min/maxer I would be doing damage and not taking so much. And I probably would have gone with a Troll punch/melee adept.

. Besides, Ruperts been layin' the smack more than anyone else I would say.
I guess we just can't find a happy medium between how much info we all happen to think our characters should get, like character rolls and whatnot, or what sort of info we gain about the battlefield through our trained perception. Seems like Hamster just thinks we might pick up on a bit more than he feels he is getting. If it comes down to it whatever happens, happens and whatever final decisions are made, that's the way it is going to be: no disagreement there. Merely the vocalization of potential concerns.
Heck, all I want to know is what street we are on, so I don't really care. I will find out what street I'm on!

Nah, you're hacking those bugs up. I'd say anyone with a gun is the weakest, but damn we look cool, even using them ineffectively.
Whizbang
Oct 19 2004, 09:27 AM
I'm hacking them up while they're hacking me up...and I didn't even get to kill any the first round
Sandoval Smith
Oct 19 2004, 10:40 AM
That's because we tried to keep the wounded teammate in the center of the circle.
Fleshforms have proven vulnerable to gunfire, the problem is that we haven't seen too many of them...yet (not that I'm complaining mind you).
I designed Rupert to be a master of melee combat. Use that reach of three to increase your oppenent's target numbers, while using ten dice for your counterattack tests means that unless they are either REALLY good or lucky, even on attacks they initiate, they're probably going to get smacked.
On the other hand, if anyone starts shooting at him, he's going to have a problem, since he's got a pretty small combat pool, comparitivley, and not so much armor (I really forgot to focus attention on that. D'oh!)

Wow, lots to reply on today, ok, from the top....
Mr Hamster, no, putting the rolls was too intensive, took too long to post, and ruined the readability of the story. I roll the number of dice you put in your post against the correct TN, so long as you have your armour, body, init, and attack dice written, it's all correct. The biggest flaw in this system is that KarmaPool is not used as often as you might like, but since everyone has a KarmaPool of 1, and it won't refresh for awhile, I think that's not as big of a deal (you tell me).
The bugs were force 6 to 10 that time. (First time, Force 4 to 6)
Strength of attack is based on the spirit type (I roll randomlyon a homemade chart I made for what spirit and what force (1d6/2 + X) where X was a 5 this time.
Hope that answers everybody.

No worries Sphynx. I thought the first post with the rolls was cool, but can understand how that would just take too long.

Ihaven't posted because only 1 person has posted an action. As for that Action, since I will asume nobody else is doing anything, Rupert you do see a Celebrian Terrain Van at the intersection ahead, parked right in the center of the street, 2 tires on the median, bumper against a lamp post, but no apparent damage to the vehicle. It's the biggest moveable vehicle you see, but even that doesn't look like it'll fit everyone and you. However, the frame seems strong enough that you could ride on top if the need called for it. Getting the vehicle started could be a pain though, definitely maglocked.

Oct 25 2004, 08:47 AM
Rupert is a decent enough driver under normal conditions, however, if things get hairy there's going to be trouble (Driving / Car 1/3). He's got an electronics and Elec B/R of 3, plus Electronics tool kit. If someone is more skilled at getting into maglocks, then please, go ahead. He'd really rather not be holding onto the roof, so he's going to look for another good sized vehicle (he'll search harder if someone more skilled takes over work on the van).

No, nothing like that at all. As a matter of fact, you notice that at least one logo has been ripped off of one suit. You also notice the suits aren't exactly a perfect fit either, You'd swear they were wearing men's suits.

Behavior is described via the roleplaying. What you see there is what your character sees. If there was any odd behaviour, it would be on the IC thread.

Mr Hamster
Nov 5 2004, 05:08 PM
I don't think we've lost interest; it seems to be going well. It's just that currently there haven't been many actions that require everyone on the team to post (you don't need 8 people to break into one car, on contact it's the team leader only who should be talking etc) so we're just being good little soldiers and going with the flow. Or so I'm guessing. Like whizbang sorta said, people aren't going to post "I'm walking with the team," or "I'm bleeding on Kan'gi's back," again and again as it becomes taken for granted.
Once something happens that requires more people to input I'm sure there'll be more posting, at the moment just view the lack as our silent consent to what's happening/already been posted.
and, since no one has yet, I call first dibs on that milspec armor
Kremlin KOA
Nov 5 2004, 05:15 PM
yeah, as they are non corp we can safely assume that the milspec is stolen
Sandoval Smith
Nov 5 2004, 05:21 PM
Well, since I've already voiced, I'll explain a bit. Rupert isn't acting too suspicious of these people. They seem mundane, and it looks like they engaged in a little oppurtune looting in order to gird themselves against the troubles going on around them. That doesn't mean he trusts them not to think of the team as a potential resourace pool... However, a little help would be welcome at this juncture, and I don't think we'd need to fake that we're not feeling too fond of corproations right now.
