Sphynx - You're living up to your name.
Just what are you looking for from us in regards to the 'kind of team' we are?
So far it looks like we have a pretty random assembly of pet character concepts.
A team needs (add your own bullets):
-A face
-A decker
-A spellslinger
- ...
- ...
- ...
- ...
- ...
- ...
We can remember to fill in stuff we don't have with good contacts.
Sphynx - can we pool chargen resources? So, like, if the rigger wants to trick out a military grade vehicle or the mage wants a ridiculous focus.

I'm not sure Morgannah, despite huge levels of interest, I usually get about 1 character sheet for every 3 people who seem interested. I hope I don't have to cut people out, and will do my best to not do that (even if it requires multiple threads with the team splitting up at times.) |
Fair enough.
Actually, splitting up at times will be a good way to keep the action going (so we're not waiting around for one person to do their thing).
Oh, and working for GW sounds interesting ....
One of my character concepts is shaping up nicely so depending on what Tarantual decides, I might just throw my name in to play a sniper/covert ops spec.

The character refuses to use a transducer, loaths using a non cybered version and is prone to hit things when he cannot convey his meaning with sign language he's only learning (lost his voice to a pack a demon and devil rats on a botched run). His reason, he misses his voice and singing (okay so not the best reason)
If the concept doesn't work with everyone, I'll come up something more suitable.

Ok, looks like the team is currently working for GhostWalker whose primary objective is to stand between Denver and all of Aztlan. I think the team would be too big to infilitrate other teams as a whole (12 members suddenly joining up might look a bit.... wierd). So let's say that the team is used to find Aztlan supporter groups, or anything pro-Aztlan in any way and make sure it has a nice exit out of Denver, as well as doing periodical runs against Aztlan itself.
FYI: Group background was to be your thing because I'm going to screw the team from the get-go. Whatever your past is, it will take a 180 degree turn the moments the game starts, so past doesn't matter to me.
Just be a team, that's the important part. By team I don't mean you need a leader with a chain of command (though, that IS acceptable), I mean you've always got each others backs on anything.

[Name TBD] had it easy as a child, his parents being upper middle class corporate managers. His parents suscribed to the "let technology raise my child" line of thought. Chronically starved for attention, [name] was a troubled child who never had the solid love of his parents to ground him. Being a smart, but cold and ruthless, child he quickly learned to manipulate others to get what he wanted. This led to him dealing in exam answers and other illicit goods in his private college dorm, but he was eventually pinched and kicked out of school. This led, of course, to a big fight with his parents who on one hand couldn't accept the shame that their son was a bad apple, and on the other hand that they had failed as parents.
Dishoned, [name] turned his back on his parents and left behind his past monetary comfort. He found it hard to live in such near poverty, and so quickly picked up his old habits of wheeling and deeling, except higher up in the hierarchy of illegality. Well on his way to becoming a full fledged fixer, [name] is presently the man that gets his shadowrunning team the gear and, more importantly, information they need to succeed in their contracts.

Well, my character's now shaping up...he's an elf, ex-mercenary that became a shadowrunner when his assassination was ordered to cover up a botched corp extraction...his mercenary unit basically denied all knowledge of him and helped him escape, but they can't help him anymore, so now he runs the shadows as a matter of vengeance and survival, but since this is similiar to what he was doing beforehand he's not massively upset, just pissed off.
Oh, and I was wondering...does anyone know if rules exist for a sawn-off shotgun? I was thinking of giving my character one, but I want the more traditional two barreled breach-loading version (though it'd be made out of modern materials & not just be an old shotgun with the barrel filed down)

Hmmm...
Either my super-soldier character or my psionicist would work for that. Let me figure out which one would be more interesting to roleplay: Wolverine-esque flashbacks of a horrific super-soldier experiment or a severe phobia of blood spirits

I was thinking about taking a RC deck rating 1-2, no vcr and buy one or two recon drones like a condor for extra recon capabilities. Is that necessary or do you guys have the drone angle totally covered? I was thinking it couldn't hurt to have an extra set of eyes, but with 2 riggers, that may be a waste of ressources for me.

Good idea, Sparky. I just know how irritating it can be when someone basically makes a character that can do everything you do, only better, and a few other things besides. As my buddy Marc would say, I don't want to be that guy.
Since my character (either named Silk or Nightshade .. haven't decided which though she'll
look a lot like Nightshade from COPS either way) will be geared mostly towards B&E, electronics/computers/and their B/R skills will still be necessary but I'll take them at a lower level than I would in another situation. Skills like stealth, athletics (maybe an aptitude here if I have the points), and either clubs or unarmed combat will be highlighted. Oh, and rifles.
I'll also work around what Toptomcat's sammy can do so we're covered in as many ranges as possible. I'll hold off on languages and knowledge skills until we have a definite team focus.
Lindt, from what I can tell, your conjurer looks pretty good. Do you need to have SMGs

I dislike making commentary on other people's characters (unless I'm the GM), but since Morganna(h) put me on the spot ...
Lindt: For the Conjurer, Performance is a waste as an Active Skill (what type?). Even if you are looking to have it as a Centering Skill in the future, canon is fine with it being listed as Knowledge, giving you a couple more Active skill points. (of course as always, the GM has the final say).
For the Adept, I'm sure that you know already, but just a note that it's relatively common to Gaes that Magical Power with Gesture (or Incantation), giving you another whole point to use for something. You may or may not want to do this though ... just a suggestion.

Sanquine is a female norm in her late 20's with brown hair and green eyes. Her father owns a series of hotels and is a former Marine She graduated college as a psych major and got a job in advertising. After a few short years selling datafax greating cards her fiance was murdered in a corporate powerplay and she used her basic skills to get her revenge. Over the years Sanguine hasimproved both her skills with pistols, rifles and SMGs as well as improving her body with cyber, bio and limited amounts of geneware.

Just tryng to help you flesh out here:
The background is fine until you get to "her fiance is killed so she becomes a highly illegaly cybered criminal". We're talking about a law-abiding woman, who's fiance is murdered. Ok, but there's missing a vital link between "normal person" to "cybered up sammy". Normal reaction isn't to become a high-end criminal when someone you love dies. See what I mean?
Just some food for thought. I don't want to sound "holyer than thou" or anything.

I have no issue with it... especially if you wouldn't mind the real rigger borrowing the use of your drones if/when I needed it. Also, you would at minimum need a datajack to interface with the RC deck, and then, would be limited to captains chair at best. I hope you get them some decent autopilots. Not to mention, with such a low rating deck, unless you pack it full of encryption, I think it would be fairly easy to steal out your drones, or just jam them to uselessness. I'll look into it a bit more after I get home from work to give you some figures, or suggestions, or ways we could team up. Having a guy with a spare drone, with say... a mechanical arm, drone toolkit, and B/R Drone autopilot... well, it'd be handy to say the least.

Yeah, since I'm focusing on "The Legwork Guy", the drones wouldn't be in combat situations. I'm imagning a scene where I have to meet a guy I'm not sure about in a dark alley. So I deploy a condor, and oops I manage to see he has 3 thugs waiting to ambush me.
However you're right about MIJI and jamming. I don't *plan* to put my drones in a situation where they'll be exposed to such dangers, but we all know a plan is just a list of things that never happen, and the second someone with basic MIJI skills attacks me I'm done.
Unless I put a good chunk of cash to fortify my drones, they might be more of a liability than an asset.

Well, that also depends, you could always have them, and let the person with the VCR use them if needed. Also though, remember, we're in a team, if you wanted drone scouting before hand, you'd talk to your rigger, rather than pick up the drones yourself.

CyberLimbs: No House Rules, but as we all know, they're needed. I'll only come up with "House Rules" on a character by-character basis. So, suggest what you think would be fair for your cyberlimb, and we can discuss it. This means that the different cyberlimb characters may have completely different rule sets for their limbs (which also makes sense to me)
HomeMade Guns: No. Perform a re-accountancy.
Bringing a CyberDeck: Warning. A GM telling you that you'll be getting screwed from the get-go (and also telling you not to worry about buying a LifeStyle) should be a major hint towards just how screwed the team will get. Do you honestly think you'll have that Deck by the time the game is moving?
