Had a nifty idea last night about an NPC. Rally driver. But not some panzy Baja driver. Im thinking like Dakar World Rally (aka 5000 miles of the worst earth, well, on earth.). Active skills are done, just I cant come up wth some knowledge or background skills that 'work' for the concept.

Why would botany be a knowledge skill where chemistry is an active skill?

Chemistry is an active skill only if you are mixing things up (how to titrate a solution for example). Chemistry is a knowledge skill if you're trying to remember the chemical formula for caffeine or what happens (exactly) when you mx bleach and ammonia. IMHO.

From what I'm reading, it uses Demolitions, not Chemistry, to make explosives in the Cannon Companion (actually it defers to a Man and Machine page reference). Could you give me a page reference?
In Man and Machine, on page 108, it specifically states Chemistry as a Knowledge skill for most of the tasks related to Chemistry. It states Demolitions as the main skill to cook up explosives.

Not slamming on people (far from it) just adressing that if your going to drive 5000+ miles across the deserts of north east Africa, you have a hella good support team which would have the below stuff, if at all.
Dakar World Rally Just to clarify what Im talking about.
Desert Hygiene
Venomous Snakes
Herbal Medicine
Botany
Meteorology
Geography
However, Lorthazar, I love the idea of having parabotney. Awakened camel grass must be the nasty of nasty things.
