Just Wondering, wouldn't DU bonelacing eventually kill the recipient due to Radiation poisoning??? |
Maybe you should read the thread about that subject that was linked here multiple times, as was suggested. The fact that it has been nominated by a number of people as the worst thread should give you some indication of an answer. It should also make you pause and read it before bringing the topic up again, especially in a thread that is not in the least related to a Shadowrun topic.

I'd never read the DU Bone Lacing thread 'till now. It gets my vote, even though most Weredigo stuff edges in at a close second place. The Grimtooth thread still gets me riled up. |
Ya know, I think that was a thread I originally started, so search for me. It started off innocently enough then degenerated when Weredigo chimed in with one of his custom "traps".

Meh, it'd be worse if he were saying something like "but you could do that if…". Even with the laziness demonstrated, he's quite far ahead of Cutter07 on that count.

Just a request here: if anyone finds a non-current thread as a result of this thread, please, for the love of god, do not reply to it. There's a reason it's dead. Thank you for your cooperation.

Second.
I also nominate "Master Shake For Shadowrun Product Line Developer" as the greatest waste of my time, evar !!
Of course, I never read the DU bone lacing thread, and have no intention to do so. Nor do I plan to spend time searching for a post by Weredigo.

Yeah, I just read the "Master Shake For Shadowrun Product Line Developer" thread and it made me want to punch myself in the face just for having read it! Also, whoever resurrects these things is performing a vile crime against humanity...
... keep it up! If nothing else, it will give everyone something to bitch about.

Yes that was truly a horrid thread, I still think some of mine take the cake. Did get some usefull info out of it, like better understanding of ceramic lacing, and that nanocrystalline stuff. have there been any topics started to discuss ideas on what could be done with that stuff???

Crap, I was involved in both the SDI and DU threads. When the Revolution comes, I'm going to be like ninth against the wall.
I would have to say the DU thread was probably the worst. But I also hate the ones that just want to start fights, like when Reagan died, or every so often when somebody starts up about how evil/righteous gun control is. The worst part about those is that I know they're going to be bad, and I know a lot of people are going to say mean things about people that think the way I do, but dammit, I think the way I do, and I just HAVE to respond to them.... That said, when I'm arguing about Reagan or gun control, everyone knows from the outset that no minds are going to be changed. With the Depleted Uranium thread, we all just kind of thought that maybe after 20 pages of "no"s coming from people like materials engineers and chemists, people would relent. After all, it was a matter of scientific fact, not political opinion. Of course, I think we all kind of forgot about suspension of disbelief, and its enormous power to waste time.
Also, as argumentative as the IE threads or "has SR gotten better or worse" threads are, I kind of like them. They at least give me a chance to get a lot off my chest when it comes to the things I don't like about the game so I can get back to focusing on the things I do like about it.

Facts tend not to get in the way of obstinate stubborness, or just outright stupidity, around here. And I add, as one of the people who considers themselves practically rational, that we all do pretty irrational, stupid things like jump into threads like the ones you described, because it stops being about facts, and starts becoming a personal mission to prove someone else wrong.
The problem is that on the Internet, and on DS, there may be a handful of people who will ever admit to being wrong.

Then there´s people like me, who´s main reason for being here IS to be proven wrong. (Although I wont always make it easy).
Even though threads like the one about uranium and the one by Master Shake are stupid, they at least have something to do with Shadowrun. That insures that everyone here will have something to say on the subject, so they can´t ever be the worst threads. Because there are threads that have nothing to do with Shadowrun at all out there. And more often than not, they´re stupid aswell. Of course, they only get two reluctant replies and then dies. So they´re not even worth a nomination to this title.

Found Weredigo's Trap o' Doom - and yeah, it thoroughly derailed a topic that I started. *sigh*
http://forums.dumpshock.com/index.php?show...26&hl=grimtooth[edit] upon reading, it definately deserves a nomination for Thoroughly Derailed Thread rather than Worst, however.

Yeah, he voted for himself. And the other three were typing on keyboards soaked with DMSO and LSD, so they thought that if they voted otherwise, the giant crystal bears coming out of their walls would spew ninjas forth to kill them.

Given that the "or" option was included it's likely that Master Shake was trolling for laughs, but one of the votes is probably legit.

It does, but can you think of any other legitimate reason why the "or" option would have been included? Do you think someone taking themselves seriously would have added it?

Fresno Bob
Mar 11 2005, 11:44 PM
True, but maybe he wanted to present some semblance of a balanced poll. Maybe the point of the 'or' option was people would vote for it, and then present a counter-argument.
I can usually sense when someone's joking over the internet, and that post just seemed 100% straight up to me. Usually when someone runs with a joke that long they get lazy and start posting obviously joking material.

He's not necessarily stupid though, as is evidenced by his previous run-ins with Ancient History. That isn't to say that he was right, just that he has the ability to reason and enjoys debating and/or arguing.
It might be that he thought that nobody would bother voting (and rising to his flame bait) if he only included the two options, both of which are quite extreme.

Mar 12 2005, 12:01 AM
Don't think he's stupid enough to write up 3 A4 pages worth of text, which he perfectly knows will piss off the community (us being fans and all), just so he can enjoy getting flamed.
Maybe he's something like a Forum masochist. Afraid to go to a proper studio to have his ass whipped (or ... ummm ... well, different things done to), so he needs to get off here?
I dunno. I just wonder why he never answered. After all, for all I saw, it wasn't even like he was really flamed, anyway.
Chicken.

Whatever. I remember his previous 'debate' with Ancient History (and others), and he was nothing like a chicken then, even though he was posting stuff that got him flamed quite a bit.
Besides, my point was actually to address his reason for including the 'or' option. It's my opinion that the post was not meant as any kind of joke.
