And just how wide is the pipe? Plenty of axe swinging(and not getting shotgunned in the back by accident) room, or am I gonna be wanting to rely on pointy sticks and the puny gun?

I should have specified that. The pipe is "Movie Sewers Big" Ie. it's as big as required to be dramatically appropriate. Probably about 10 feet tall and 15-20 feet wide with 3-5ft wide ledges to walk on (on either side) and a central channel full of... sewer stuff, the surface of which is about 2 feet from the ledge. So yes it's tight but you can troll axe people or things without penalty... for now. vegm.gif

Your AR display will get you an overlay of the tunnel before you. It runs straight into the side of the hill for about 200 meters before it hits a T-intersection that ties this entrance into one of the 'plexes many drainage and sewer systems. This section of sewer was dug and constructed with drones back in to the 30's. As such it the walls and ground are uniform save for the occasional glitch or miscalibration that has introduced ferrocrete "artifacts" like you'd expect from early autonomous drone technology. It has also been almost 40 years since these tunnels were first laid down so your AR blinks with numerous official and unofficial (Think MAC wiki: Shitty Drainage Tunnels) warnings to watch for partially collapsed walkways or the like. It's pretty obvious that this is a regular stop for MAC and AR tags show a completed work order no more than 2 weeks ago.

Calling it a sewer isn't really appropriate. It sure smells that way but it's actually more of a drainage/storm drain system. Now people don't exactly pay attention to those "Don't Dump! This Drain Leads Straight To Your Ocean! <SadWhale.jpg>" so it's pretty bad, especially since you've passed some of the neighborhoods that probably use storm drains as poor metas sewer systems.

Excellent. And with my luck, a critical glitch wouldn't really be surprising(my first ever SR session featured a critical glitch against a flashbang: result was one badguy blind, deaf, and nearly dead via his own flashbang)

Also I'm going to toss up that Detect Life spell again, paying particular attention to anything larger than rat-sized. Range 20 meters, sustained until I say otherwise. Which I will if anything happens.

Your detect life goes up without a problem and you don't notice anything bigger than a rat over the next 20 meters.

That said, you do notice a virtual wall of things smaller than rats. The water is a happening place as well. Nothing looks immediately threatening... just icky.

Anyways I'm back, I'm working on an IC post now so barring something catostrophic (like my girlfriends apartment burning down or being flooded with jello) I'll have something up in a couple of minutes.

I assume you all have some form of night vision? Can I get a quick rundown of what you are all using to see with? Include vision mag/enhancement in this summary.

Example:
Harris=Natural Low-light, AR thermographic

The ASP and the proggies loaded into your AR will tie each persons vision enhancements into a wider net that everyone can use, effectively increasing the distance you can "see". As an added bonus your ARs track and highlight everyone in your group so it's virtually impossible to lose one another unless you switch off your commlink or your signal gets jammed (You'd also have to lose LOS, I assume all commlinks have a basic laser link a similar in case of jamming or other area disruption). You can of course chose NOT to subscribe to the ASP and the group PAN but that's a dick move and will substantially decrease everyones situation awareness. A real paranoid might consider what happens when a person... say at the end of the line, get ganked and nobody knows because they weren't tied into the PAN.

All that technical shit aside this is what it looks like:
Pools of digital light bobbing, merging, separating, and flickering as you move through the utter darkness of the sewers. Ghostly halos mark your crew members when they step beyond your augmented vision. It's a small comfort that you can basically see what they see, in your own field of view.

Some other notes:
-Everyone with enhanced olfactory abilities (the super sniffers in the party). Please make a composure (2, willpower+intuition/charisma) test to ignore the effects of nasty sewer smell. This is a blanket roll for then entire sewer unless a special roll is warranted (like a toxic spirits envelops you). If you succeed you suffer no penalties and I'll assume that you continue to gain the benefits of your enhanced sense. If you fail you suffer no penalties but you're having a hard time keeping your senses straight and you'll lose the benefits of enhanced smell for the time being. If you glitch or critically glitch we'll have some fun smile.gif. Pass or fail this is a really unfun for someone with an extremely effective nose to be, RP accordingly but don't feel obligated to overdo it. If you fail you can try again in a hour or so in game.

Yeah let me know as soon as you can what drones you're running, how, and if you're acting as the ringmaster for the party's comms and what not? (ie. Are you actively managing the party's datastream or are you leaving that in the hands of the ASP?). If you want to make some additional perception tests (ie via scouting or using whatever awesome crap you have stuck to your drones) let me know so I can set thresholds and what not.

Watch this space. I need to look your character sheet over but I'm fairly certain I have a few rolls I need you to make.

UPDATE: Dumori, please post a spoilered Character sheet formatted so I can post it into the official character list in the OOC and IC threads. That lets me get to your sheet when I'm at work and don't have access to gmail or the like. You can omit the drone list for now but it'd be nice if you threw those up there eventually.

Night vision: I've got low-light and vision mag (plus flare comp) in my glasses, but my read of the rules is that I can't cast through it, so I've also got a flashlight ready to rock (Can I turn it on as a free action?).

Definitely hooked into the PAN. What am I, stupid?

Yep, you can't cast through low-light but it will help you not get jumped by god knows what. For the sake of my sanity we are going to assume that using low light doesn't impair your ability to look astrally. Ie. The usual "OMG darkness" modifiers apply, alleviated slightly by your flashlight.

I need to look over the rules but doesn't looking astrally negate darkness modifiers in most situations?

you can flick the flashlight on and off as a free action.

You anticipated my next move, actually. I'm going to switch over to astral perception and see if there's anything magically wonky going on... maybe a metaphysical fingerprint in the water.

Here's an Assensing test if you want it: 3 Hits.

Also let's pull up a watcher spirit real quick (Magic(5) + Summoning(3) + Power Focus(1) = 9 to buy 2 hours, Willpower(4) + Logic(4) = 8 to buy resistance to 2 drain).

EDIT: I keep forgetting my Power Focus but for that it doesn't matter. EDIT 2: typo

So yeah, lets think about shifting some points around so your guy can do a little more than cast firebal- er swing axes at the darkness ;p

Use Cold SIM when need but AR when not relise on piolet an command if he can.

Owns only one drone the others are part of the standed gear
These are (as of last GM corospondence these need soem stats for me to use them):
2 X Rotodrones for surveillance
5 X Small Crawler Drones (Meant to drag pesticide tubing under floor boards and what not, come with an assortment of different gripper heads and basic tools.)
1 X Defensive Drone with assault rifle and grenade launcher (filled with gas/flash bang/other non-lethal)

well i was wirting up my sheet again and the program i used didnt crage me for race so im now 30 BP over... Im unsure what to do atm so I'll leave it to the GM.

Use the books stats the drones listed. Anything I've mentioned before is "free" and out of the kindness of my heart I'm giving you up to 10k to upgrade the city drones as appropriate (enhanced sensors, better pilot, etc).

Hm... 30 bp over puts you significantly more over powered than the rest of the part. Do you have the max number of negative qualities? I would also suggest removing some cyber and lowering your magic to 3 instead of 4.

All and all you need to cut somewhere, let me know if you need more help

Down to plus 10 over but from there it gets harder. Might drop a skill group down or look at changing my cyber/gear. With the Ar drone you mind which drone that fits that role I pick as there are 3 IIRC.

Ar Drone? I'm not sure exactly what you're asking about? Assault rifle? that's a separate drone.

Aye. If it's Ok with you, I'll drop a point of Strength and buy Perception up to 2, and use the remaining 2 points to get the Revolvers specialty for pistols. All according to GM fiat, of course?

One other thing, I'd like to do a little virtual sit down with each of you and chat through some stuff about your character. I did this with Dumori a couple of minutes ago and it helped me phrase some themes in this plot so... yeah. Do all of you have gmail chat or do I need to download the accursed AIM or whatever the fuck is popular these days?

Just get pidgin. It runs all the IM protocals. AIM, MSN, google ect. You'll just need to sign up to them as needed.

Ah yes. Little heads up. Dumori is our rigger and he's got a couple of drones up and contributing to the ASP mediated sensor net. There's a rotodrone behind you all and fly spys infront, above, and behind (by about 15 meters). Furthermore a battered doberman has taken point just forward of everyones favorite axe troll. The doberman is mounted with an assault rifle and a magazine of neurostun grenades. Mindful not to get any on you.

What is trying to kill you? No one except Mickle5125 has a clue right now. Provided she screams and points (or shoots) you'll be able to make an attack in the general direction of badness but i'm going to ask that you spend a simple action to take a look around and figure out what the fuck is going on. If you choose to do this, roll perception, if you don't, standby for penalties to hit.

Madrigan. If you're choosing to look astrally as your simple action you can read Mickle5125's spoiler in this post. This of course will only be immediately helpful you if you make the threshold 4 surprise test.

UPDATE: Alright you guys are about 10 meters from entering the chamber and you're standing on the usual 3 meter wide ferrocrete ledge. You're standing on the left side of the tunnel (facing towards the chamber) and I have your marching order as follows:

@Dumori: Please clearly detail what you're doing with your drones and try to number them as I have so we can keep track of what is going where. Since the doberman is the only one that is armed things should stay fairly simple... unless you start suiciding your rotodrone into the darkness.
