Bad moon!!

Great mission!

love the pre-gens. wish I could have been there for the convention. would like to have seen players reactions to people getting in character
though i spotted a few glitches, overall the mission is good. Alot of options are open to the team.
good info for the GM to run it.

I didn't expect some of the plot twists, given me ideas for my own game, which has started in Ghost Cartels. I can still see using this mission with the rest of the Cartels Campaigns. a good filler between the 1st and 2nd parts
maps are a good touch

wish i could talk about the job itself, but i don't want to spoil it for any players who haven't play it yet
but...
i will say mind your etiquette, or Hong Kong may become your PC's new home....

just wondering, anyway we could find out how players did during GEN CON...an overall After Action report
aleast some of the highlights..please nuyen.gif nuyen.gif

The PDF costs $3.95 plus approximately $0.50 to $1.00 for ink (assuming you print the colour cover), paper and wear on your printer to have a print copy complete with the smell of paper. You can even use scented paper for a little extra.

Scented paper would make it hard to smell the paper. wobble.gif

I don't even want to speculate on this; it might happen, it might not, for the reasons John has outlined.

I do, however, want to point out that all of the "new content" PDF releases are additional to the print schedule: we aren't taking books off the print schedule and turning them into PDFs. We're taking product types and concepts that likely wouldn't break even or make money in the traditional three-tier [publisher -> distributor -> retailer] environment and making them available directly to you.

No cancelations? Wise. Still hoping to avoid a mutiny huh? wink.gif I understand your points, and I appreciate your position and the (somewhat narrow) line you guys walk just coming here due to the nature of publishing, business realities, and the constraints you work under, I was mostly just curious. I likes teh paper. And, I'll be watching hopefully (but not unrealistically) to see if you make enough money off of this for your bean-counters to change their minds... hmmm, pliers and a blowtorch, that should help them see it my way. I'm pretty sure BishopMcQ (among other Dumpshock members) GM'd this at GenCon, so perhaps he could spoiler a couple of highlights.

Grabbed mine last night. Gotta print most of it up (except for the full-page artwork) & read through it.

We do have some print adventures on tap for 2009, too.

Adam,
Please forgive any lack of diplomacy in this question series but I don't know how else to ask.

Complete Adventures, like Bad Moon Rising? Those that are ready to run
or
Something closer to Ghost Cartels, which some would consider a framework for adventures. And some interesting fiction sections to boot.

Dawn of the Artifacts will be in a traditional adventure format. Unlike Bad Moon Rising, which was designed for the GenCon tournament, it will not have pre-made characters.

Answering for Adam since the PDF-exclusives are actually my domain.

It's pretty unlikely that this scenario (or any of the other PDF exclusives) would see print release. These are being released as PDFs based upon sales expectations. In the event that the PDFs sell astronomically well, it's certainly possible that CGL would consider a print release. However, it's reasonable to say that's extremely unlikely.

Essentially, in order to justify a print run, it has to be reasonably likely that a book will sell a few thousand copies. These scenarios are unlikely to hit that target for a number of reasons.

Hey Dunner,

Why not put them all together in a book o' missions sort of compilation. Volume 1, Missions 1-6, $14.99 + tax/VAT sort of thing?

That way the cost of printing is spead out over all the pages rather than having a higher cost for a fewer page printing. That whole economies of scale and such.

Is there any talk about releasing other GenCon (or Origins) tourney adventures if Bad Moon does well?

It's a nice thought, and it's certainly one that I've investigated. I can't speak to what will or will not happen in this regard, however, if it was my money being risked, I wouldn't gamble with this sort of expected ROI. OTOH, I don't play the lottery either.

Well, Adam did mention that it was part of a trilogy, and there were 3 Shadowrun convention tournaments in 2008. wink.gif
