After reading this thread i just wanted to inform people that both Bull and Synner have said that the new chargen system is NOT Becks.
Critias

Thanks for clearing that up.

We can only hope the all uppercase, seperate thead title will be read understood and remembered by those that missed it the first 4 times. wink.gif
L.D
I was hoping that a new thread might do it... a lot of people seem to "skim" threads they've read the start of.
Kagetenshi
My god, BeCKS? How could they?

I've known this practically from the beginning, one of the dev logs said they were ditching priority in favor of point buy...
Shadow
Its point buy, but its not like anything we have seen yet. From what I gatehr a starting character gets between 300 and 400 points (this is from a friend at Origins).

They may have of course changed this by the time the book gets released.

I am still hoping they didn't just double ROF on guns just because the round is now 6 seconds.
L.D
This is part of what I mean. The round IS NOT 6 seconds. It is still 3 seconds.
Paul
We'll have to Prod Bethyaga to update BeCk's to reflect SR4.

Well unless they changed it in the last two weeks, the round is 6 seconds.
Synner
You have been privy to outdated information. It was one option being playtested, but using 3 second turns was the option taken (the decision is certainly more than 2 weeks old) - and that is why people who've signed NDAs shouldn't leak stuff they're privy to under any circumstances even less so before its finalized.
Ellery
Sounds like we need another new thread titled, "It's 3 seconds" with a subtitle "SR4 rounds are not six seconds!".

I would say they changed it more like five or six weeks ago. Either way, I can also affirm that the combat round's duration will be three seconds.
Shadow
I read the 6 seconds from the origins thread. I did say that it may have been changed. I don't read all the threads here nor do I follow you guys (freelancers) around on the boards so I miss things when they have been updated.

And I am glad they changed it smile.gif give me hope.

Got it covered. Also i took the time to put up a helpful, health wise public service announcement.
Homme-qui-rigole
How can you confirm it's 3 seconds? I thinked that those who the read the rules was under the lock of a NDA...

You know who gave that "6 second" information? I'm gonna tell you: Rob Boyle. In the Game Trade Magazine article. So better check your facts before accusing the wrong people.

Bethyaga is a god.
Paul
At least a minor diety if not a major pantheon of his own. Let's kick him and poke him with sticks to get v0.4 BeCK's.
Kagetenshi
A trickster god, spreading suffering.

While this is usually a viewpoint I've derided as based on false assumptions, with regard to chargen as far as I've seen we really don't know anything significant about it—might want to wait on that before planning an alternate system.

Or have I missed something?

Paul
Nope, I just like BeCK's. Haven't seen what the new system is, obviously, but what could be better than BeCKs????? cool.gif

An excellent example of why the game designers should, and do tend to, keep as tight a lip as possible on details during development.

Also a good couterpoint to those who kept saying the devs didn;t listen to playtest or fan feedback on stuff...
