Wanted: Shadowrunners who are disenfranchised with the established Church or actively wishing harm to the organization known in whispered conversation as Templars. Applicants should have combat and reconaissance experience and be available to work immediately. Must be willing to work in high stress, team-based environment.
If interested, leave brief bio for consideration.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Okay, so give me a concept, a history, a breathing person--Character sheets themselves are not immediately necessary.
This game will revolve around an active hunt of Templars and their agents, as well as, the repaying of certain debts contracted during Chasing the Prize. Characters with a personal stake in such endeavors will be looked on more favorably than those just in it for the money, but all concepts will be looked at.
Post questions if you've got them.
Re:Karma--I'm not posting a build guideline yet because I want to see what characters and concepts get thrown into the circle. From there we can discuss what you need to make the concept work the way you want it to...if it is overpowered, I'll work with you to scale it down and vice versa.

Y'know it's funny, I was just talking about a concept I had with a friend of mine, and then there's someone recruiting
Anyway..
My current concept is an ex cage fighter turned Yakuza/Mafia goon/bodyguard turned shadowrunner.
He was born in the Sprawl, poor family, area pretty much run by whichever criminal syndicate (not sure which just yet). Anyway, he learnt how to fight to protect himself, and when he was in his late teens he heard that there was big money to be made in illegal cage fights run by aforementioned crime syndicate. Makes a name for himself in the fights, and the syndicate running the cage fights offer him a job as a goon/bodyguard for a mid ranking officer in their ranks, which he takes, thinking it's his lucky break. Works as a bodyguard for a few years, before eventually becoming jaded with the lifestyle and decides to move on...pulls a vanishing act and ends up working as a shadowrunner to stay alive, and stay out of sight of the syndicate he left.
That's all I've got for now, I can refine it a bit as time goes on...so, what you think?
Edit:
Actually, I've just had a thought...
Scratch the disappearing act, have him still working for the crime syndicate, and they send him after the Templars because they want something, or someone...
Hmm...I'll need to think about this angle a bit more, but I prefer it to him just being in it for the money, instead he's following orders (maybe with something in it for him if he pulls the job off?)

I think I';ll throw my hat into this one. Sounds neat.
I have a few ideas that popped into my head. maybe one could be developed more:
A dissillusioned ex desert wars force chaplain.. seen a lot of war, death, killing, etc...
An ex priest or one that didn't make it all the way through the seminary due to some collateral shadow activity, maybe a former member of the order of St Sylvester who used his "gift from god" to kill someone, or was forced out due to church politics... (friend / family member was kidnapped / killed...got them back or killed the perpetrators, but couldnt complete the ceremony because the guilt was too great or something similar)
Conspiracy nut who thinks "big brother is going to take over the world through the masons ruling all the corps.. etc...." I cant help but think of a crazy eye'd dwarf with scraggly hair living in a trailer in the woods surrounded by landmines waiting for the mothership....

Operations File, Lancer Merc Div. Seattle Area. Classified M-6 or higher. Do not distribute. Name: Daniel 'Downtown' Townsend
Occupation: Mercenary
Former Occupation: CAS Special Forces
Primary Weapon: MSG90
Secondary Weapon: P-90
Training:
Infantry, Airborne, Air Assault, Pathfinders, Rangers, PLDC, Sniper, Spec Force.
Personality Profile
Downtown is the perfect team player, he is comfortable taking orders as well as giving them. He can operate independently in support of a team or in the front line. He rarely looses his cool, if ever.
History:
[ Spoiler ]
Daniel Townsend “Downtown” to his friends goblinized at 11 years old. His parents were devout Catholics, and at the time thought he was a spawn of the devil. He lived in the slums of Atlanta Georgia. 3 years into high school the quiet shy ork was very good at avoiding his fellow schoolmates. Who made a practice of beating the crap out of him whenever possible. Unbeknownst to Daniel he was using his adept abilities to avoid the beatings. Once on the way home he was unable to avoid the 5 gangers who were pursuing him. He was in the local mall when he saw the Recruiting station for the CAS army. He ducked in because he figured he would be safe. He talked to the recruiter and found out a lot about the army and himself. He could join without parental consent at 17 (which he was) at the moment he also did not need to complete high school. He thought about the offer on the way home. Which is probably why the gang was able to find him. They beat the hell out of him. The next day he joined the CAS army.
He picked 11-Bravo (Infantry) as his specialty, more because he felt after infantry training he would never get beat up again. During indoctrination his magical nature was revealed to him. He was pulled aside while waiting in one of the many lines. He was told what he was and what his potential was. And if he chose, the Army could help him unlock it. So far they had done nothing but help him, so he signed. 14 weeks later Daniel Townsend graduated Basic Infantry training a changed ork. Strong, agile, and full of confidence. During the 12 week Advanced Infantry course it came out that Daniel was very good with a rifle, incredibly so. Immediate after he graduated Advanced school he as loaded on a bus and went to the other side of the Fort. For the next four weeks he trained at the Airborne Infantry School. Upon completing his 5th jump he graduated and wore the red barrette. But not for long. Daniel was assigned to the 6th infantry division, 123rd battalion in Florida. He served there for 6 months. Shortly after being promoted to PFC he received orders to attend the Air Assault course at Fort Polk Louisiana. Over the three week course he learned how to jump put of helicopters. After completing the course he was held there and assigned to the 3rd Battalion headquarters to work as an armorer. He was stationed there for 6 months and then sent to PLDC school in Virginia. He graduated the 8 week Non commissioned Officers course at the top of his class. After only a year in the Army he was on the shortlist for Sergeant. David had found in himself a depth of loyalty, courage, honor, and patriotism he had never know. Loyalty, duty, honor were not just words to him.
After PLDC school he was flown to the Joint Training Command in Honolulu Hawaii. Where the Path Finder school taught him how to survive and fight in almost any situation. He stayed on as a Corporal at PF school to be a adjunct instructor for two years. His original enlistment was coming to a close and David was offered some choices if he chose to re-enlist. He picked Sniper school and the CAS was glad to give it to him. On the beginning of his 4th year in the CAS army David attained 2 things. The black rifle in a sniper scope on his chest (next to the wings with a parachute, and the wolfs head) and the rank of e-5, Buck Sergeant. It was at this point the David earned the nick, Downtown. For his amazing ability with a rifle to put a bullet anywhere he wanted it. After achieving sniper school David was assigned to the 181st Airborne division stationed in Italy. He spent two years there as a sniper. He was often put on “Leave”. He was tasked by the NAC for special ops. He was out in the field more than he was in the base. He shared a barracks with the 181st, but he usually was on assignment in Germany or Russia.
8 years after joining the CAS army Daniel attained the rank of Staff Sergeant and graduated from Ranger school in Fort Benning Georgia. His acceptance to SF was dependent on him successfully completing Ranger school at Fort Benning.
SF training started rather roughly at FT. Brag where he spent the first few days in the REC. Downtown was arrested by the MP’s for belting a officer in the jaw at a local bar. Luckily the officer was not wearing a uniform, nor did he identify himself. After that minor altercation DT got up and running in the SF program. Like all of the schools before him the strong willed ork put his back to it and excelled. The shooting wasn’t a problem, nor was electronics. He had a tough time learning the languages of his region, Eastern Europe and the middle east. He did well enough to pass though and before his 9th year was up he found himself stationed at the 1st special forces command at Fort Polk, Louisiana.
A year after he joined the elite SF units Danny, and his unit, was deployed to a small country called Basarah. It hid itself in the shadows of the larger Arabic countries and tried hard to stay out of the way. The CAS was trying to promote a change in government do to the high traffic of illegal narcotics that flowed from the small country strait into the CAS. The SF’s mission was to aid locals in raiding shipments as well as teach them tactics. Unfortunately the rebels were little better than the government they were trying depose. Instead of destroying the drugs like they agreed to do in exchange for help, they stockpiled them, and sold them to finance the rebellion. When Danny’s unit showed the evidence to the CAS there controllers turned a blind eye. When the rebels started executing locals who wouldn’t play ball, Downtown had enough.
On a windy day in the middle of the desert Downtown set his trap. He was on a hill over looking a small village the rebel leader was do to ‘visit’. Danny had used his access to the comm. Gear to over hear that the leader was planning on giving the village a choice, “send all your men to fight, or we kill you ourselves.” The leader arrived onsite at the specified time. When the man exited his vehicle, a 7.62 round exited his skull. To all the bystanders it was as if his head simply exploded.
While they were unable to prove that it was Downtown who pulled the trigger there was sufficient evidence to pull him out. Disgusted with his government Danny asked to ETS and exit the service. Danny now freelances out of the Seattle area as a merc for hire.
Recently he was ona 6 month long operation in a hell hole called, Azerbaijan. He teamed up with some old army buddies as well as a devout Catholic named Bishop. Being in such close proximity to a man of the cloth awakened some latent memories of the terrorizing he went through as a kid. He suffered another loss as well. While away in Azerbaijan his on again, off again, girlfriend married an Ares exec she met while he was away. Not a good year for the sniper.

I present to you my rough concept for Rowan MacBride, aka Sister Suffering.
[ Spoiler ]
Rowan MacBride
`Sister Suffering`
Proof looks can be deceptive. This fresh faced, angel eyed beauty is in fact a former soldier and sometimes assassin for the Official IRA in Tir na Nog. She was born into an Catholic family in an almost eclisivly elven villiage, the sort of place where the wealthy like to maintain a home, the families who've lived there for generations be damned. While her family wasn't badly off financially, she learned at an early age that in Tir if you were human and Catholic, you were a second class citizen. She idolized her two older brothers, both of whom were members of the Official IRA, and would tell her stories of their exploits. Still, her parents would have none of that in her, and they encouraged her to lead a more pious life.
Determined to protect their daugter from the violence associated with the lifestyle of their sons, they sent their daughter to a small convent on the edge of town. There she lived until her eighteenth birthday, and, in order to please her parents, she became Sister Rosetta. She went on to serve the Lord for three years, until the death of her brothers at the hands of the Ulster Revolutionary Force.
A crisis of already tenuous faith turned to something much more when she uncovered evidence that one of the Bishops in her dioces was in fact a member of the shadowy organization known as the Templars. It was in fact this very Bishop who had brokered a deal with the URF which had provided them the arms used in the attack which killed her borthers. Love of her family, and a desire for revenge, overrode any loyalty she held to the Church at that moment, and she killed the Bishop soon thereafter, making it look like a random act of violence. While she remained with the convent under false pretences, she joined the IRA cell that her brothers had been a part of. She soon thereafter became one of their premiere assassins, for when other means just couldn't get the job done. She used her position as a nun, and her innocent appearance, to gain the trust of her given targets, and get close enough to get the job done.
Still, she was only an ameture at the time, and eventually drew the watchfull eye of both the Tir Republican Corps, and the Templars themselves. She was forced to leave the country, and eventually Europe, ending up in the Seattle Shadows offering her services as a freelance assassin. She has been working the shadows for several years now, and while she no longer maintains cover as a nun, her street name continues to reflect her strange relationship with God.

Okay, dual character concept myself and Buddha are working on:
Two members of Tigger's Hunt Club. Part of a somewhat more...proactive approach, this pair is seeking to prevent the deaths of any more shapeshifters at the Templar's hands. With the information passed on from Tigger, they've targeted the Society as their next proactive step in protecting the community.

Overall I like the concepts that are rolling down the pipe...
I'll make final choices Thursday and we can get moving.
For characters, use 125 BPs to get started and then add a reasonable amount of karma. This will be a run specifically targeting an organization that has world power on par with a Corporation, plan and build accordingly.

Ok did a little think tank action and we (me and Fenris) are doing Elves (mage/adepts) from Tir na Nog out to put down the Society for actions against the Elven People. McQuillan seems jazzed by the concept so we're going to work it out over the next few days. We'll do modern versions of simple weapons (bows, swords, etc) and follow the Paths of the Wheel magical tradition. We'll divide up the spell selections into utility and combat. We'll post more when we have more.

This game is going a little too dark and personal for Tigger but he's got a big old crush on Edana so put him down as a level one contact at least. He's pretty jaded about people but she left an impression that struck.
Speaking of karma, was there a wrap up bonus at the end?
And what cash should we be looking at having post creation and any cash for karma in effect?

Chasing the Prize was my Bounty Hunter game, inspired by Ecc’s call for a legitimate team of Bounty Hunters. His call evoked too much interest and so I volunteered to pick up everyone who didn’t get selected for his game.
The story was basically that they had to bring in a Virologist to stand trial for murder charges and illegal medical studies. The virologist they learned had become a ghoul and released an airborne strain of VITAS in the Seattle subways during rush hour.
That’s when the run began to go down hill. Legitimate bounty hunters began taking loans from the mafia and hiring smugglers to get out of town. They made their way to France and in a confrontation with another Bounty hunting team known as the Society had several fatalities including their mark who had to return alive if they were to be paid. During the firefight, the alarm was sounded and French National Security arrived because they were in the chateau of a French Aristocrat.
Several members of the team were captured and some cooperated with the investigation more than others. Survivors called for revenge while the mafia and others called their balances due…

Recently he was ona 6 month long operation in a hell hole called, Azerbijan. He teamed up with some old army buddies as well as a devoute Catholic named Bishop. Being in such close proximity to a man of the cloth awakened some laten memories of the terrorizing he went through as a kid. He suffered another loss as well. While away in Azerbijan his on again, off again, girlfriend married an Ares exec she met while he was away. Not a good year for the sniper.

Alrighty, concept's locked in, time to craft... only thing is, I reckon I'm not sure whether to go the mundane, magical, or machinated route for Ms. MacBride... I do know she'll be well rounded in her combat, with enough face to play up the 'innocent flower' bit if need be...

Still working up details... might go Adept, but that ability would probably have been recognized while she was with the church... cyberware would seem sinful to her, but given her vocation, she'd probably consider that she'd ultimately be forgiven... she is doing God's work, after all...

Does anyone know how much karma we got by the time Chasing ended? As in... how many weeks did it run, cause we get 1 karma for each week.

Ok guys, since I felt...errm...fragile (note to self: Next time, go home earlier) yesterday I didn't get much done, but I'm now in the process of writing up a character, so I should have it finalised by Saturday.
The only thing I do need help with is karma, since I've never been in a game that lasted particularly long so I'm not sure how to spend it.
Oh, also...on the subject of hard to find equipment, would a Cougar Fineblade (long) be allowed? It's Avail. 8 which isn't too bad, but I thought I'd check.

Nightcrawler The Cougar fineblade is fine. On the how to spend karma question, it depends on what type of character you're wanting to make. I know you're doing an ex-cage fighter but is the character cyber based, skill based or an adept? With a little more info I'm certain we all would have suggestions on how to spend the karma.
Shadow I will send you a PM with questions about your character so far, so keep an eye out.
As a player (takes off Proxy hat), are we going to have any connections to one another before the game starts? McQuillan mentioned that someone else was from Tir na Nog so they might already know the duo Fenris and I are doing.

Edana is from Tir na nOg. As is Rowan, DH's character.
What's with the all the nOg love? Wow.

Bishop and Danny are old service buddies. So they have somewhat of a connection.

Well, my character'll be mostly skill based (as the Adept system confuses me), but have some cyberware to make him a bit more long lasting. So, I'll appreciate any advice.
Oh, also, can anyone think of anything similiar to knuckle dusters or armoured gloves? The closest I can find is the Hardliner Gloves in the CC, but if anyone can suggest something else I'd appreciate it.
This game should be fun

Well a pair of elves who're fighting anti-elven movements, if that's what I saw, might not get on too well with Rowan, given that she was Official IRA, and likely clashed with the elfstocrisy from time to time...

That's good to know, we can switch it to just going after the Templars. They've been messing around in Ireland and we could even work the angle of the enemy of my enemy is my friend with Rowan.
