Just grabbed the pdf and it looks nice (and my first post here).
One thing that came up though (that is noteworthy) is that my Acrobat 6 full version seemed to crash (or at least really really take its time opening) with the pdf, Adobe Acrobat Reader 7 works flawlessly though. so if you have an old version of Acrobat and run into problems you may want to get the latest release of Acrobat Reader.

Wow, Acrobat 6 really throws a hissy fit with this, Page 4 is very tempramental. Upgrading to Acrobat 7 clears it up nicely and allows it to work perfectly.

My Machintosh Preview program decided to show it in black-and-white. Is that normal? That is without pictures. Never mind, Acrobat Reader 7 works it like a charm anyway.

Anybody any suggestions what to do?
Try to buy again and demand a refund for the first try?

Check your PayPal account to see if the transaction has actually been processed, if not then you can try it again (or use a credit card).

Had the same Problem.
I´ll wait. You can´t expect somebody to be at work 02:30 am.
It is the first time I got Problems with PayPal. It showed an error report and crashed the browser window. As it tells me I have payed, it should also tell BC that I paid.
So it´s just to be patient and see what happens.

6-pack of what?

Not sure whether or not he drinks beer. But a 6 pack of Red Bull would probably do him good.
And have you seen that boy? Give him more than one sandwich. he needs to eat!

Anyone else having trouble opening it in Acrobat 6.0? It's working fine for me in Acrobat 7.0 but not the earlier versions. Course, since 7.0's a free download from Adobe, it's not so bad.

It doesn't work in Acrobat 6 as far as I can tell. In Acrobat 5, it sort of works, but with lots of stuff missing. I haven't tried Acrobat 4.
It doesn't even work all that well in Acrobat 7--page loads are quite slow, but not as horrifyingly slow as some of the previews. At least everything shows up, and if you're going to read it cover to...er, well, start to finish, the slowness won't affect you. If you like flipping around a lot, really fast, you'd better either have a very fast computer or print the thing out.
(I don't think Acrobat is designed for graphic art on every page, or if it is, the encoding tools aren't designed to efficiently place the art on every page so Acrobat can load it rapidly.)

Preview makes the thing take an acid trip and a half, as others have noted.
It makes the cover actually look decent.

Is it just a .pdf I can download? Like I can read it both at home and at work? Or is it some funky other thing where I need to be connected to the internet and install odd software?
CrystalBlue
Aug 31 2005, 03:15 PM
When you buy a PDF off the internet of a book like this, most times it will be water-marked with your name on it. This means that the file is yours to do with as you please, just like any other PDF. However, because it is watermarked (though I'm not seeing the watermark on mine), this discourages people from freely distributing it over the internet. Not that that kind of thing won't happen. It just makes it easier to trace backwards.

In my opinion I really found Drek and Frag annoying. We know what they are implying and kid's ain't as stupid as grownups think.

I too always found it a bit asinine and juvenile. It was a concession made to protect the kids who would likely buy shadowrun from the Big Bad Words. Besides, these things go in cycles. In another twenty years people will get tired of these "old" curse words, and Drek and Frag will be back again.

Preview does this on most Acrobat 7 files (and a few 6.0 files). It's a bug in the app itself, not the PDF.
