Yeah, cash cost should probably come down, but Essence cost needs to come down. I'll look at at it when I can.

I'd go as far as to say that memory costs a flat .1 Essence (just for the interface, therefore less than a chipjack), and you can load whatever memory chip you want into it. For an extra .1 Essence you can house it in a specialized body compartment so it can't be seen; otherwise it'd stick out of your skull or wherever you want it, just like a chipjack. With the ultra-rapid advancements in storage space versus size, I can't see something like memory capacity being something you'd need surgery to upgrade.

Headware memory: I'd go with half cost - essence and nuyen. 1 essence gets 600 Mp. Double that with an SPU: Data Management and double again with delta grade to 2400 Mp. Holds 22 rating 6 skillsofts with change. For storage (rather than RAM) get a Data Compactor and hold 12000Mp.
Also, is cyber memory treated as SR computers where the memory size defines the computer, it's not just storage. It's somewhat implied and is how we always done it - cyber-memory as effectively a brain-computer.

Link, prehaps I havent had enough coffee yet. 600mp of headmem is currently 2.00 ess, not 0.20. Never mind that its ¥90,000.
So how do you get to double it with delta grade, and what is this data managment thing. Also, the data compactor is +80%, so would only gain you 480mp anyway.

600Mp for 1 essence was the adjusted figure derived from my suggestion to halve essence costs.
Delta grade 'ware halves the essence cost or conversely allows double the quantity of cyber-memory.
The SPU: Data Managment is cyberware from Shadowtech that doubles the effective memory while still allowing it to be used (albeit at a slower rate).
Here is the relevant Data Compactor info. I think my calculations were right - rating 4 would reduce data size by 80%, effectively a five fold increase in capacity (although inaccessible until decompressed).

A quick search reveals, for example, the 40mm HEDP (High Explosive Dual Purpose) round for the M203 grenade launcher, which incorporates a shaped charge. I think it's just spin-stabilized, like all other M203 rounds.

The US Marines are also field testing similar rounds for a 12 gage shotgun. For info check out SOFMAG.

I think an AV hand grenade would be possible, just not in the way most players think of it. Incindiary grenades use Thermite to burn through stuff. Most fancy gear comes with it when you deploy during wartime, in case you get overrun and need to destroy your fancy high tech comm gear before the enemy can get ahold of it. You can also use em to scuttle boats, frag up field artillery, etc. Generally, an AV hand grenade would simply burn a hole through components of parts needed to operate your vehicle/gear. You couldn't throw em and blow up an APC, but you could destroy the enemies ability to use said APC if you pay a visit to the motorpool before you set off any alarms.

As far as the HEDP rounds, we used them standard issue for the MK19 which is a fully automatic grenade launcher. They'd go through about 2.5 inches of armor, as I recall, which is enough for some APCs but definitely not anything close to heavy armor. They also have a huge radius in which they're distinctly unfriendly to fleshy bits. Don't recall the exact numbers off the top of my head, but thats the DP part, armor and personnel.

So here’s a thought I just had: by analogy to Closed-Circuit Simsense security, Rigger-connected wearable gear with no independent mobility but with various communications, monitoring, and C&C features plus the ability to add things like injectors and turrets or rear-arc-covering weapons. Probably wouldn’t be able to get past Machine Pistol-level except on Trolls, at least not without really cutting into the wearer’s ability to function, but I feel like there could be something there.

Also ties into another thought I had back in the day, Simsense Input running off something like Wired Reflexes to allow rigging (or drone-piloting) a metahuman body, which could also give a way to keep on-site wireless-link Deckers mobile (drone brain keeps them walking along).

Anyway, that’s my crazy ideas for now.

I’m not sure why I didn’t see it in 2007, but yes, it makes sense—it’s very un-grenade-like in that you’d be firing for a direct hit, so it might require some funky rules, but this does seem reasonable.

Some thoughts, not all of which I like: use shotgun skill, might need different ranges and/or a TN penalty, there might be something in drag-stabilized indirect fire but that could be a bridge too far, I’ll have to give it some thought.
