Actually the great thing is that I couldn't see them putting that in earlier editions ~_^
Needless to say, when I opened up my friend's SOTA:63 to that page, I had to do a double-take to determine if all the things I saw in that picture were correct.

Actually that second one, if you look at the enlarged version of it, like the sample
here, the woman on the left looks elvish while the other looks human. It could just be the angles, but I have had more people say its an elf and a human than two elves.
Might be they're trying to breed inter-racial bisexuality or lesbianism so it's not just for the elves anymore.

It is an elf and a human. There's really no way around the round ears on the woman on the right.

Her nipples were described in a book and most male gamers can't forget the word nipple, long after it's been played out. Kinda like an SR version of "All your base are belong to us."

"Nadja Daviar has luscious gams" is mentioned in shadowtalk for one of the books (I can't remember which) as being the password to access some hidden Matrix node.

I was looking up the Despair, Inc. posters and came across a DIY motivational poster maker (Google it, I'm too lazy to make a link). I made some posters of
myself,
Emo, and
SL James - the latter has earned this honor because he's only a old grouch who just needs a big hug!

I'm not crazy about the captions for SL James and me, but I must admit that I think Emo's caption is very fitting.

I was able to see the picture SL made earlier - it's a poster of Emperor Palpatine/Darth Sidious from the Star Wars films.
The more I think about it, the better I feel the comparison between SL James and Oscar the Grouch is. I didn't even make the connection until I did an image search for the word "grouch" and got a bunch of pictures of Oscar. But now the idea is cemented in my head: whenever I read SL's posts, all I can see in my mind's eye is Oscar, sitting up in his trashcan as he types away at an old desktop computer.

Yeah, although I think he's finally realizing that just because a bunch of users on a web forum think his fiction is better than the official stuff Privateer Press pays someone to write that writing fanfic is for suckers because a) he's not getting paid for it, b) he's not getting any real publication credit, and c) he's stuck in someone else's universe.
I mean, he's known it for a while. But I think it's inevitable that he will give it up as nothing more than mental masturbation.
As far as Shadowrun goes he pretty much doesn't care about the game anymore.
Grinder
Jul 23 2006, 11:21 PM
Imo writing fanfic can be a good way to introduce you to the movers and shakers of a rpg, especially when you post that fiction in a forum frequented by members of that company. I did so and got the chance to work with the RedBrick-guys which turned out really well and earned me my first writing credits.
You have to start somewhere.
Critias told me that he simply isn't interested in SR anymore. Too bad, he had some nice ideas and his own speical view on the game. But priorites change.

Jul 24 2006, 02:21 AM

I see your pont, but sometimes you just need to be patient and annoy the guys in charge a bit. Or, yeah, move on and try it in a different genre/game.

Howdy all. My name got said three times in one thread, so I got summoned. Might've noticed, but I slipped back into posting on a few threads again, last night. My counselor calls it "backsliding into destructive habits," and is none too pleased with me, but... I kid, I kid!
I just haven't been in much of a Shadowrun mood lately, to be honest. Nothing in particular I feel like typing up the essay required to pin down, but the mix of mojo and machine just hasn't been pushing my buttons lately. Burn out over SR4 (and the ensuing arguments) probably didn't help. I got more interested in Warmachine for a bit (my fanfic thread over there currently has over 13k hits, which is kind of an ego boost while, simultaneously, I'm frustrated they keep not accepting submissions for new fiction, even for their magazine), but I dunno. Somethin' just had me not in too Shadowrunny a mood.
I'll be at Gencon (nothing SR related, in particular), though, and might go back to lurking here and there a bit. I'm not dead or anything.
