It should be rather obvious whos a smoothtalker and who isn't. Ghost, probably not. Sylph, maybe. Garret, doubt it. The girls? Jill, yes. I know her. Judith, maybe not today. She seemed miffed earlier. I don't want her getting mad.
Green Eyed Monster
Is there some sticking point that your characters would not accept this run? Then we can get on with specifics instead of playing twenty questions? I am waiting for someone to ask if it is smaller than a breadbox.

Is this time of day good/bad for everyone?
ARKARY
Well with CHA 5 I don't thing Ghost would complain. biggrin.gif

But really, there doesn't seem to be a whole lot to ask about before agreeing. If he's expecting the rest of the costs to be covered through looting, we're probalby not going to squeeze too much more nuyen either.
Samaels Ghost
Anymore cash we can get out of him easy easy money. I say Lilith would take the intiative to press for cash, being as her toys costs more than most people's. And she could probably get it done.

Press for more cash then accept when it looks like you've got all you can without pissing him off. Hayter is waiting for SOMEONE to take the intiative.
LilithTaveril
Make an etiquette roll for Jill. She's trying to sooth things over with her comment.

As for why I didn't have her negotiate for more money: Wasn't thinking of it. Hold on while I edit my post. And, add a negotiation roll to it.
Mekalus
Slyph by nature is more likely to be subtle and play off others so he would automatically defer to whomever in the team looks to be taking the lead in negotiating. As far as the job is concerned he has no further questions until the rest of the info is out. He listens a lot and speaks very little in talks such as these as a rule. In this way he gets the most info he can possibly get. He will aid Jill so if you are rolling then please roll a negotiate test for Slyph to aid Jill if applicable. Other than that...
silentmaster101
Garrett doesn't really need many of those answers, all he does is heal those he is working with and shoot those he isn't. That and he is not a leader, more concerned with teamwork and survival then ordering people and stuff.
FanGirl
I'm sorry for being pissy, and I also want to make an Etiquette test to negate my social gaffe. biggrin.gif

EDIT: Oh yeah, and of course I want to add my dice to the Negotiation test. biggrin.gif
Samaels Ghost
That's a good point. I think working together should give us a bonus. I also remember it being harder to negoitate with a group, so this Johnson may have trouble keeping the price down.
Samaels Ghost
Looks like everyone has agreed to the job.
FanGirl
Yeah, I wonder why Green Eyed Monster has yet to post Mr. Johnson's instructions, especially after he expressed his impatience to get things going.

Green...you're not dead, are you? wink.gif
FanGirl
Oh God, I hope he's not actually dead. eek.gif
Samaels Ghost
If he is it's your fault ork.gif
LilithTaveril
Damn... Okay, I call dibs on his credsticks.

What?! Why me?!

Don't you dare try and survivor guilt me! mad.gif
Samaels Ghost
You jinxed it! ork.gif Thinking such things, one must wonder: Did FanGirl really want GEM to die? Is her question a projection of her desire? What murderous intentions does our fellow online-gamer harbor? Who is her next victim?

/me hands FamGirl her smartlinked Pred 4.
Green Eyed Monster
Yes, I'm alive.

I am frustrated with my internet connection.

I can read much more easily than respond, and reading the thread just makes me think it is spiraling out of control. First is mostly my fault. I had a post I was writing leaving room for our tardy character/player to start playing or for us to easily allow a replacement to enter. I posted the entry, and got my internet connection to comply, when I see the player in question has posted during the interim. I hurriedly edited my post to work his post's information into mine, and luckily got my internet connection to post the edit. A long explanation for the "tardy runner" bit some found inappropriate. If I go by her character reactions, Mr. J. is going to have more and more problems with her passive agressive actions. But this is all OOC as far as I am concerned.

Next spiral seems to be the question about alternate plans for completing the deal. The Johnson left the details up to you, so every possibility is an alternate at this point, right? Why ask such a question? I was trying to answer it in character from his point of view with 2 of the worst reasons I have seen for PCs to ask about an alternate plan. So maybe a bit of player and GM misunderstanding.

I have been trying to make this as easily acceptable a run as possible, but it seems like the things I am doing to make it acceptable are taken as too good to be true or raising red flags about what is he up to, or giving the impression he is new or stupid. If it makes you more comfortable, I can make him more assertive, controlling and demanding.

The comment of being on par with stealing cars. I'll start by admitting stealing cars is a pretty good gig in SR. If we assume the Johnson knows about threat and difficulty levels, he is thinking they are about the same for this team as boosting cars.

TURN OFF SIGS in IC thread! Is it so hard? I see them and wonder why they are still there. I'll start listing possible reasons, but that will really help this spiral into oblivion.

Also, when you want me to roll, it would help if you tell me your dice pool. The more windowes I open, the better chance my @#$%*&^% internet connection acts up.

No one responded to my question of when everyone is usually online and good posting times. I am in the eastern time zone, and lately have been sleeping during daylight hours. 9 or 10pm my time seemed good for people.

I am going to try to get this posted, then post an IC piece about accepting the job and giving out detailed information.
Samaels Ghost
Just to clairfy, Lilith and FanGirl still have sigs on a post or two. Just trying to be helpful

Times I am available....will be changing soon. I am starting school Monday, so I am unsure af when i might have time. I'll say for now that 11 pm central sounds good to me. I'll post before GEM gets on so that he can read and respond to anything lengthy.
LilithTaveril
Central Tiume Zone, and during the week, I'm typically available in afternoons and evenings. Weekend and Friday? Your guess is as good as mine.
ARKARY
I'm in Mountain Time Zone, and I can post every day, typically in the mornings though I can have time to post intermittently thoughout the day.
silentmaster101
hey thought i posted my time, but it is anytime after 4 pm est, all week, including weekedays that is good, usually in bed at 12ish
Samaels Ghost
Depending on what happend within the next week I may not have internet access for a little bit. i have to configure my computer to the college network, so I may have trouble getting online for the first week. I'll try to get on in the computer lab.

Just a forewarning
Samaels Ghost
For later arguments: Drones are much more useful than exposing ourselves by breaking in or causing distractions. We don't get caught or seen if a drone is nabbed.
Mekalus
Sorry looking back I see I did not post good times. Usually I am able to post 11pm central or later. I work overnights several days a week and stay up on my days off. All the questions are just our way of obtaining as much info upfront as possible. I can not remember all the runs I have been a part of where we didn't ask enough and missed some key piece of info that could have made the difference. As far as dice pools Slyphs negotiate skill plus Charisma gives him 5 dice to roll to assist Jill ( I believe who was going to negotiate?) or whomever is taking the lead in negotiating with the Johnson for the wiggle room mentioned.
Samaels Ghost
That's why I was attempting to pass the buck to lilith. About the drones that is. If she can convince him that we do need planning money then we can work from there. If we come up with a way to complete the run without spending the planning budget then we all get a bonus biggrin.gif

And I can contribute five negoiating dice too.

Or we can use the "Opposed test vs a group" rules (pg. 58) and just get a straight +5 dice. That might not be as much as we would get using teamwork, but it seems more realistic. We don't know each other very well and probably can't take each other's cues and work together that well. It cuts down on rolling too, which is a plus

It's up to GEM, of course.
silentmaster101
Garrett's negotiation involves bullets so no help there:-(

I specialize in housebreaking! What am I gonna do, sit in the car and mope? nyahnyah.gif

But seriously, do drones have fine motor coordination like humans do? For example, could a drone cut a hole in a glass window or panel without letting the glass fall and shatter? Seems like an extremely tricky operation for a drone, but a relatively simple one for a human, who could just catch the cut-out glass with his or her free hand. Plus, I understand that drones don't often have the intuitive reasoning to adjust quickly to new and unexpected hurdles. For these reasons, I feel that drones are probably best used as a supplement to a human infiltrator's efforts; they could perform reconnaissance, or perhaps be used as backup if things get hairy.

Oh yeah, and I doubt that just sending in the drones would remove all of the risk of getting caught. Jill would probably control the drones from the getaway vehicle situated just outside the house, right? If you noticed a strange drone in your home, then looked out the window to see an unmarked van parked across the street, wouldn't you put two and two together? wink.gif

EDIT: Oh yeah, the times. I usually have the time to do extensive writing during the late hours evening (or the wee hours of the morning) here in Chicago. However, I am going back to college on Thursday, the 7th of September, and don't see myself posting very extensively then. After that, I'll probably be available earlier in the evening, but I won't be able to say for certain until I settle into my daily routine.
LilithTaveril
Nope. Jill would park the next block over.

Sorry about my delay in posting. Storm issues.

Last I checked, some drones were capable of surgery. I may be wrong. But, yeah, using a drone would be more interesting... If Jill had the drones for it, of course.
Green Eyed Monster
By all means, keep asking questions. They keep giving me ideas of things I overlooked adding. devil.gif
Mekalus
Sheesh ok I suggest all the players start PMing each other so our GEM has less of a leg up on us. eek.gif Just kidding. In case anyone is wondering about my IC post Slyph has the Astral Chameleon and Blandness traits as well as melanin control and facial sculpt. He is built for B&E and not being remembered. I liked the direct blowing a hole in the wall approach post. biggrin.gif Good stuff.
silentmaster101
eh sometimes it works, sometimes it brings down security on you. i am all for simple plans, but any simple plan still needs a few critical parts, and a backup plan. first things first, gather info!
FanGirl
I just want to make it clear that Judith agrees with the importance of getting info. It's just that Johnson was all condescending and nasty and she wanted him to leave ASAP. See, Judith was surpressing the urge to grab him by his shirt collar from across the table and loudly denounce him as an arrogant son of a bitch, and she knew that that would have been a dealbreaker, so she wanted to remove the risk of that happening. biggrin.gif
Mekalus
Cant say as I blame you. I was tempted to thrash him myself but then I remembered how broke Slyph is heh.

LilithTaveril
I wonder: Could we have simply killed him, hacked his accounts, and took the money by force?

I think I just came up with Plan F.
silentmaster101
thats generally bad for reputation, but if say he tries to grease us then maybe its worth it.
Samaels Ghost
Doubt he will. This is a milk run
LilithTaveril
Last time I played a milk run, it was the first step in a bug spirit conspiracy to take over Seattle and ended with a three-way battle between a mob of runners and go-gangers, spirit-possessed Lone Star employees, and the UCAS military.

You'll have to excuse me if I'm a little paranoid.
silentmaster101
eh me too. whcih is why i'd like to go shopping a bit.

FanGirl
Ugh, I think I got my mom's cold, and I'm going to have to get up early tomorrow to go see my shrink. I won't be able to type up anything substantial tonight, so just assume that Judith tacitly approves of whatever the rest of the characters decide tonight.
silentmaster101
Now what type of test do i have to do to use my contact to aquire a low-middle class place for a week? im assuming that the available funds will be 200 from each other member in the group plus 500 from me. Total would be 1500 if everyone gives 200, which is really enough to rent a middle class place for half a month. But pass back any money not spent divided evenly among all teammembers please.

[ Spoiler ]

It may seem like he is spending alot of money, but Garrett knows the value of loyalty and how much developing new friends, especially friends in the shadows can really help out later.

Remember, the back room at Matchsticks is cut off from the matrix either with a Faraday cage or the special paint. The creek is little more than a ditch to collect runoff and eventually leads to a storm drain. I'm sorry if I made it sound navigable in my description. To clarify, the hill is about 1000 feet in elevation, it is not shear, but would difinitely need hands available to scale. It is covered with brush, a few trees, many fallen tree trunks, and grass/weeds.

The hill is also several homes view out their front window as things are lined up as target house, target house detached garage, hill obscuring view of target house, creek/ditch, street, homes, backyard fence, homes, street ... (heading up another much gentler slope.) On a right to left basis, the pattern looks like a home, a buffer of vegetation (trees, hedges/bushes), a home, that homes drive leading to a garage, the next homes drive leading to its garage, a buffer of vegetation. Most homes are like the target's, and have several steps leading up to a front porch as the homes are built on a slope that is higher in back than in front.

The houses in the neighborhood were built in the late nineteenth/ early twentieth century. It is doubtful anything is going to be found after 150 years and 2 major crashes.

By doing a simple search (when you get where you are able to do one) of phone records and surrounding addresses, it looks like the immediate vicinity is fully occupied.

It should not be difficult finding matrix location.

eh me too. whcih is why i'd like to go shopping a bit.

Make an availability test for garrett for clips of apds rounds, which is 42x1 rounds for the rifle, and 15x2 for the pistol.
72 rounds total, so default to 80 rounds, im willing to pay 200% for them adding 4 dice to my pool, so 3+4+ aditional 6 for my contact sting to look for them.
Thats nuyen.gif 540 for the bullets against a threshold of 16, with an availability of one day.

What about the test to contact Sting, he's a busy guy? frown.gif

17 07 05 05 05 04 04 03 03 03 02 02 01 = 5 hits
13 09 05 05 05 04 04 03 02 01 01 01 01 = 5 hits
08 08 05 05 05 05 04 04 03 03 03 02 01 = 6 hits

also i would like to get 6 fragmantation mini-grenades, same test at %200 price, so 3+4+6 for the contact against an avaibability of 10f. price is 420 for them. availability still one day.

11 05 04 04 03 03 03 02 02 02 02 01 01 = 2 hits
11 08 05 05 03 03 02 02 01 01 01 01 01 = 4 hits
05 05 05 05 05 03 03 03 03 02 02 01 01 = 5 hits

same goes for 6 high explosive mini-grenades, %200 price, 3+4+6 against 7f. price is 540 for them. availability one day.

09 07 05 05 04 02 02 02 02 01 01 01 01 = 4 hits
05 04 04 03 03 02 02 02 02 02 02 02 01 = 1 hit
11 08 05 05 05 05 05 04 04 04 04 02 01 = 7 hits

Looks like at least a 3 day wait for everything.
silentmaster101
ok, and oh sting is a female, leader of the ancients, forgot that part haha, used data from the seatle sourcebook from back in version 3, but all non-numerical data from that book is still pretty good fleshing out info.

and the three day wait isnt a big deal, nothing is recon critical, assuming we arent going to do the run for three days.

when i talked about going into the ditch to get to the place i had crawling along the side, and then scaling the incline to come in with low-visibility, where a slow approach is less noticable.

however i dont know if thats the kind of stuff he had in mind as well.

A relative of one of the gang members has a garage or basement (your choice) they will rent that is a mere 10 blocks from the target (by a circuitous route.) Both have water and electricity as well as powder room w/shower type bath. They include second hand refrigerator and microwave for "kitchen".

If you want something else, please let me know more what you are looking for. What part of Seattle? (I was assuming you were asking for either downtown - where Matchsticks is, or near target - Queen Anne Hill.)

Just going through some want ads will probably disclose some homes for rent in Queen Anne Hill. With it being an old neighborhood, there will no doubt be some fixer upper properties that could be rented that could be considered low-middle. There are also probably rooming houses available weekly, although this would mean splitting up the group as it is unlikely that there are accomodations for 6 in one "room". If you are lucky, maybe everyone can stay in same building.
LilithTaveril

Just assume Jill forked over 200 nuyen.gif and went along with everyone.

i was thinking something downtown, so we have a place to hide out for a day or two until the dropoff, someplace not too far from the target, but not too close as to have out vehicles recognized quickly. In other words, that place will do just nicely.

Once told about the base of operations Slyph will head to his doss to pick up his gear and then head over to the base of ops. Will post IC once it is appropriate. Just posting as it seems very quiet all of a sudden.
