A Drop Bear wielding Excalibur and conquering England... biggrin.gif

If Harley has in fact getting hisn hands again on his old sword and using it to [i]do good[(i] to England, it would as least give the eternal clown a serious approach.

But IEs all the time? Nah. I hated it when it was revealed that IEs were many many improtant persons in history (Barbarossa and Eva Braun among others) and that Leonardo is one of their pack too.
ChicagosFinest
Frosty is probably the newest IE and son of Ethran the scribe. Hareley is training her now. She also has started posting on the new shadowland (i forget what they call it now).

Damn! Help me out: who's Frosty?

Real name, Jane Foster ... Ehran's daughter, and Harley's semi-apprentice/protege.

I like that idea, but why should it be named Excalibur back in the 4th (or even 2nd) world? And no, changing the name is not really a solution.

How do you know that it wasn't named Excaliber, and that the sword just wasn't important enough (or hadn't reached its potential) at that stage? wink.gif

Suffice it to say I'll be pitching London for one of the upcoming location books, which one I'll leave it to you all to work out...

a touch of inspiration from Mr. Moorcock and Mr. Orwell, Ima wiki these although I'm familiar with Orwell i need to flesh more info

Mr. Michael Moorcock's Eternal Champion series has some brilliant ideas (though people tend to have a thing for Elric for some reason I tend to prefer Cornelius and Hawkmoon). Regardless, there's all that cyclical nature to the metaverse...

a smidgen of China Mieville (okay more than just a touch)?? You got me

The master of New Weird and somewhat of an acquired taste. "Perdido Street Station", "The Scar", and "Iron Council" have made him my fave Brit author. Though the latter came out after SoE it definitely parallels a lot of my vision of the Underground.

some touches of 2000AD

The late-80's/early 90's runs. Before the US snatched up all the good writers.

a whole lot of "Golden Age" SR references and my own twisted imagination. (MMMMMMM! Yummy)

As usual, your mileage may vary.

The first part of the Elric story I thought was interesting. After that, I dunno, I got spent on it. I liked the ones that had multiple Champions/aspects. There was one that had like 5 of them, got into some weird metaphysical thing where they needed all their potential to stop something from devouring existence, and did a voltron bit where they jioned to make a truer aspect of the eternal champion... I just can't do it justice.

The coolest one was the first one where this guy is jsut chilling, and then suddenly is this huge Norse guy tring to figure out what's going on. Eventaulyl remembers who and what he is, and that his eternal cahmpion-ness was on vacation. Good times.

Nice to see another Hawkmoon fan. Though I draw the line at animalmasks (except in ED where I stole the Orders whole heartedly).

A very interesting list of influences BTW,must read some China Mieville, this is the second recommendation he's got in three days.

Does any one know where the City of Spires(I forget it's actual name, Sereathra or Shosara, I forget which) is? If it was on Britain Harle could be the Once and Future king. He was head of the Knights of the Crimson/Crying Spire.

I'm pretty sure that Sereatha, the City of Spires, is in Latvia, just off the Gulf of Riga. Definitely not Britain.
Ophis
Yeah, I'm just trying to remember where they were. The Serethra and Shpsara I figured were respectivly Latvia/baltic and possibly Greenland (as a source for Thule myths). I was just wondering how to tie Harle to Britain. Unless there was a migration of the people at some point. I figured it was an elven city that the DIMR where digging up there.
fistandantilus4.0
I got "cheesy" from Martin Gotthard , one of the guys who wrote Target:Awakened Lands. That was his word for including the Noble Drop Bear. Credit where credit is due.

A lot of folks migrated, if ya' think about it. For starters, Harl/Cambieul was the ambassador to Blood Wood. At some point, BloodWood died/de-patternized. So all those elves had to go somewhere. Also, IceWing/Ghostwalker, and Mountainshadow/Dunkie both moved to N.A. Aina was in England at one point, no reason Harl couldn't have gone there.
ChicagosFinest
Yeah he spent a lot of time with her but she was also connected to the Horrors. Arthur a horror? sic and twisted thought.

yeah but not at the time. It was the down cycle after all. Still wanna get that Scars book. sarcastic.gif

Mea culpa. smile.gif

As for Blood Wood: why did the IEs leave their homeland? I mean, even after the 4th Age was over and BW vanished, they could have stayed on its former location.

Yeah, perhaps one of those things where any real hint is basically the same as the answer. Too bad. Worth a shot. At least we can answer Chicago's questions I guess.
ChicagosFinest
LOL my questions are mere speculation on where the plot can go and who the players are on stage. From there Maybe we can make an accurate prediction about whats next on the list.

besides this is one of the better meta plots out there besides trying to save Chicago biggrin.gif We chicagoans got a long way to go, but its SHE-CAI-GOH! Name another city that almost got burned down by a cow?! You can't wanna know why? Cuz it's SHE-CAI-GO home of Da Bears and Da Bulls
PlatonicPimp
You've been smoking Chicago's Finest again, haven't you?
ChicagosFinest
Nah not yesterday, maybe tonight. But if you visted you would laugh out loud about the way people talk about the city here. That Saturday night live skit holds some truth to the south side and suburban superfans who claim chicago.

Me I'm one of those normal northsiders who make fun of those who embrace the stereotype.

Back to Pendragon... Whats the word on the Lyonese island? I know its on a Ley line (is that the same as a mana power site) but other than that does it mean anything?
Fortune
QUOTE (ChicagosFinest)
... a Ley line (is that the same as a mana power site) ...

Basically, yes.
ChicagosFinest
So I can expect it to be whored out soon like stonehendge (the site everyone gets a turn using)?
Fortune
The British Isles are riddled with Ley Lines (synonymous with Dragon Lines in Asia). Every second ruined castle and old monastery is located on some kind of Ley Line or Power Site. I wouldn't worry about too much foot traffic in these kind of sites in relation to the major mojo makin' places like Stonehenge.
Grinder
A Ley line doesn't need to have a physical manifestation. Many Ley lines run across the earth and only on "crossroads" where two or even more lines meet, exist physical manifestations iirc.
ChicagosFinest
Hmmm. Remebering the black lodge post in threats would it be possible to use these as astral highways to teleport from one place to another? What about granting immortality?

Thanks for answering my speculative questions it makes me feel all warm insde biggrin.gif

No teleporting in Shadowrun! Bad CF!
ChicagosFinest
LOL! Chill old man I was just speculating. It was thrown out in the black lodge so i threw it out again in this post. I agree teleporting is probably a no go, it would take so much fun out of the game. But how do you explain the black lodge post in threats if they cant telepot?! Maybe an illusion spell of some sort. Geesh!

...no self respecting bloke would ever even think of telepoting. It's not very cricket to mess with one's tea, not much less the crumpets and marmalade.
ChicagosFinest
LOL ok everyone pick on me for just speculating! In fact let me draw a bulls eye on my chest so everyone can take a pot shot!

Wishfull thinking my ass I just like investingating every angle to try and get the most info. Fuck the black lodge anyways there wanna be immortal elves.
FrankTrollman
Members of the Black Lodge are spirits, which explains the "pure magic" BS, the "teleportation", and the fact that the Penultimate Master no longer shares an astral contact with his fellows.

The rite of ascendance to the title of Penultimate Master is actually simply an inhabitation ritual that leaves the lodge member's skills in the hands of a powerful spirit.

Penultimate Masters never die, because they are already dead.

Oh... Umm... My bad?! biggrin.gif I know sometimes I come off as a little green but thats because I'm young enough to have totally missed Earth Dawn because I was to busy begging my older brothers to let me play shadowun with them (they were mean to me like that).

Aaaahhhhh memories if it wasnt for those bastards I would never play roleplaying games. You gotta love em but hate there guts at the same time

Having once profiled the true origins of the Black Lodge in an unpublished appendix to the Vigilia Evangelica, I can only say that's one take on it. Mine was slightly different though it had points in common - as fistandantilus will attest.

Read my mind

So much in common, but important little differnces that I for one liked.

Edit: so.. what's stopping you from explaining your take? Or do you mind if I do?

I've avoided posting it on the net in the hope that one day I'll get to tell that story officially. That being said I don't think it will happen in the forseeable future, so I might just post it here... if I can dig it up.
